Sam lay in bed, in a deep sleep. She dreamed of flying on Honchcrow, the wind in her hair. She landed in Canalave city, where she could take the boat to where Darkrai was rumoured to take residence. Suddenly, she felt something hard and wet on her face. She groaned in her sleep. "Mighty.. Geroff", she said, still half asleep. "Mightyena!" she groaned, now fully awake. As she opened her eyes, Mightyena jumped up and down and wagged his tail wildly. He barked his pleasure at waking her up. "Mighty, why do you always have to wake me up so early?" she asked. She reached forward and scratched him behind the ear. He calmed down instantly. He was exactly the same as he had been when he was just a little Poochyena. She got out of bed and got dressed. She ran downstairs and grabbed a slice of toast and her bag. "Morning, I'm off!" she called to her mother as she stepped ouside. She breathed in the salty scent of the sea, Mightyena trotting along happily at her heels.

Mightyena bounded ahead of Sam, tongue lolling and tail wagging in glee. Many people would be intimidated by a Mightyena, but in Sam's eyes, it was the cutest Pokemon there was. She whistled and he came running back to her. "So what do you want to do today, Mighty?" she asked him. He barked happily in response, then crouched forward and wagged his tail playfully. Sam grinned. She picked up a stick from the ground and flung it as far as she could. Mighty bounded after it. He came back a few minutes after and dropped the stick at her feet. "Good boy, Mighty!" she said to him, tossing down one of his favourite poffins. "Think I might go somewhere new today. What do you think?" she asked. Mightyena barked his agreement. She pulled out her town map. Most of the cities had a little check mark next to them, letting her know she had been there before. There was only a few left blank. "What about Blackthorn city? They have a dragon gym there. Tyranitar would like that", she said. She took out Mighty's pokeball. "Return", she said. She then took out a pokeball and threw it. Honchcrow came out. She jumped on his back. She ran her fingers gently through his feathers. He cawed in pleasure. "Blackthorn city today, Honch", she said. Honchcrow took off into the sky. She told him the directions, and off they went.
