So a new Crysis game has finally made its way in stores now. It looks promising at first, but then I decided to put off buying it. Any thoughts?

So both my friends who bought it say it's really lame.
The player is now slowed down so you feel very restricted and apparently there's no freedom in anything.
Basically they say it's pretty bad.

Games these days are now starting to become too enamored with the "style over substance" schpiel as well as focusing more on multiplayer than single player. Both developers and fans are getting lazier than ever.

I'd say style and multiplayer have been a main focus for a very long time. Good games have always been few and far between.
I don't know what the difference is now, maybe it's just more pronounced than it used to be. With things like CoD selling a billion copies and each one is the same it's hard not to try to imitate that.

Counter-Strike, Rainbow Six, and Halo are the ones to blame for all this. If it weren't for them, the gaming world wouldn't have an influx of games focusing on realism and other drivel like that. Though, it's the FPS realm that suffers the most on this issue.
