We all know Sen. Hillary Clinton is probably going to run for President. Is America ready? Do we want a female president? Are we just too sexist? Please discuss this as I am curious to your opinions.

To add to my own post, this question is sexist to a degree because the implication that there is something to be ready for implies that females are somehow different. However, sexism is subject to interpretation as are other issues. ("takes one to know one" ethic) Anyway do not interpret it as such and answer the question. -Spencer

The thing about leaders is that they are usually thought of as men. I have no problem with either Clinton being president though the rest of the country might. Republicans had a serious problem with her husband so I'm unsure what they'll think of her.

Hillary still has a lot of work to do before she is really a viable presidential candidate. If she were to run now she would be destroyed. Her husband was bad too, in my opinion but at least he was charismatic and liked. Is America ready for a female President? The answer is yes the majority of America would be ready for a woman in that seat. However, the majority of the world is not and thus would cause a great deal of problems and most likely get her kicked out of the white house after her first year.

Ready for a female president? More than likely. Tolerant and willing to have a female president? Doubtful. Ready for Hillary Clinton? HELL no.
It's not really sexism, I see it more as a natural wariness about putting a woman's brain in that position. Considering our brains work differently and we react differently, I would daresay that any woman I voted into office would have to have the brass balls and thinking processes of a man. Primarilly because, as my sister says, "women are evil." They truly are, they are vicious, and I would not want something so petty and underhanded as a feminine woman in office. Afterall, power corrupts, and when your mind is already capable of horrendous atrocities against your own friends, then I wouldn't want to see how they would treat faceless and nameless masses of strangers.

Any woman is no more fit to be president than any man is.

Is America ready? Only the woman, and some men. Is the world ready? No. America is the superpower, and the world would, in my perspective, take America in a differnt view... not saying bad... but when was the last time you saw a woman leading the world... middle east will be PISSED.

And when is the entire middle east (Isreal and all the smaller forgotten countries included) not pissed the hell off? They act like kindergardners over there with the 'he started it' stuff so I say we take their attitude toward females at the same level that we would a male kindergardner.....they'll get over it. Really, the most important thing here is, why should it matter what gender, race, orientation, religion, etc, etc a person is as long as it doesn't effect there leadership? Obviously this is excluding the stupid counter arguments like mentioning satanist or something like that.

And what majority of teens and pre-teens don't? Yeah....you didn't have to be a girl to be a hateful little createn in middleschool. actually, in my experience, it was more the rich kids that did so. Sure some women are underhanded, twisted, etc, etc. But guess what? So are all to many guys. I will admit though that MY sister is the master of manipulation.

maybe, but not with Hilary. My history professor said that Hilary is far far too right-winged to win presidency.

HentaiTentacleDemon maybe, but not with Hilary. My history professor said that Hilary is far far too right-winged to win presidency. God no, she is using right wing tactics, and would honestly destroy this country from the inside out, much like Bush's predicsesor aka Clinton. She couldn't even stand up to her husband, so how the hell is she supposed to stand up to another country?

Wait, what'd Clinton destroy?
Anyway.
Female President: Not impossible. However, somebody has to lead us into the realization that women can be effective Presidents (as a culture). Which means that we need an exceptional woman who can, if she wins, convince people that she is not just doing pretty well "for a girl," but doing pretty well period.
Otherwise, our first female President would be our last for a long time.
Hillary Clinton: I hope not. Say what you will for or against the Clintons, but they're just not genuine. Image is everything for them, and image is not what we need in a President. (Although personally, I'm still missing whatever horrors keep being alluded to in the Clinton Presidency. The economy was good, the job market was good, there was a budget surplus...the only things which I particularly disliked were his pro-corporate stance and his tendency toward rash military actions.)
Condi Rice: Please, no. I'm glad that she's working on updating her image, and all, but her record of lying to the American public is not endearing.
