Here is where I will document the lives of the Endler's from Akari and their offspring. So far I have 3 generations of fry, month old, week old, and day old. I have roughly 20 month old, who were started for their first few weeks of life in a makeshift fry container. I kept Momma in the main tank and just caught fry when I saw them. After I got to around 20, I stopped collecting/protecting any additional fry. When my keyhole cichlid passed, I released them into the main tank because he was the only one big enough to eat them after they reach a week or so old. These guys are a little less than an inch long as this point, and about half of them have gravid spots, so I'm assuming the ones that don't are males. No coloring on the males yet.

I'm also hoping to do an experiment. Another gaia member brought up the question of whether or not it's healthy for the females to be having babies all the time, and I explained that since they can hold sperm from one mating for months that it can be kind of difficult for them not to. So, I may separate a few of the females before the males mature and see if they live longer than the ones who are allowed to mate.

I'll post pic of everyone later on ^^

Yay babies! I noticed it took a while for the males to start coloring up, but once they did, it was only a couple weeks until they were fully colored.

I'm interested in seeing how this experiment goes, myself. If you were to do it, they'd needed to be separated as soon as you can tell the sexes.

I'll work with some of the younger ones then. Just not sure where I should keep them, lol.
