The most common objection I hear concerning the Bible that it cannot be trusted as God's Word; because it was written by man and everyone knows that man makes mistakes.

In actuality, the Bible was written through man by God. In speaking on how the scriptures were written, 2 Peter 1:21 says "But holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." The Bible writers were not inspired as great artists, or inspired to produce great art. The word "inspired," it meant God breathed. It conveys the idea that God breathed out the scriptures. Man was the instrument used by God to convey His thoughts in the Bible.

Now the Bible is not 1 book, but 66 compiled under 1 binding. It is written within a period of 1,500 years, about 40 different authors, from all walks of life, from varying occupation, written in 3 different languages, on 3 different continents, during in times of peace and the times of war. The Bible authors wrote exactly on what God wanted them to write on 100s of controversial subjects, yet with absolute harmony from beginning to the end.

Now think about this. If we interview the 5 people of the same nationality, working at the same job, living in the same year, and we ask them to speak their mind on 1 controversial subject. What are the chances that they will agree? And despite of all of the differences of the lives in the scriptures, the Bible is completely harmonies, from beginning to the end.

The Bible's remarkable continuity is evidence of its divine origin. And its unity is due to the fact that the Bible has 1 author, and that is God. The Bible served as a bases for modern day pursuits. In fact, modern day science was birth in the 17th century because of a belief of an unchanging God of order, purpose, and consistency; the God of the Bible.

It is filled with numerous scientific facts. It has been in the forefront of modern day science. When scientists thought the earth was flat, the Bible describes the true shape of the Earth ("It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth" Isaiah 40:22) and how it is suspended on nothing ("He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing" Job 26:7).

Before the oceans were explored, the Bible knew the existing valleys ("... the valleys of the sea" Psalms 18:15) and springs down in its depths (Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea).

It even mentions the hydrologic cycle with great clarity thousands of years before scientist have a drop of insight ("All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again" Ecclesiastes 1:7).

It is the only Spiritual book that contains fulfilled prophecy. Messianic prophecy, for example, foretold us that a Messiah would be born of a virgin, in Bethlehem, and that He would be rejected by His own people, yet bear their iniquities, and save His people from their sin; which ultimately came at the cross when Jesus proclaimed "It is finished."

The Bible is God's Living and Powerful Word. It can be trusted because it is inerrant, inspired, and infallible. Even though it has no contradictions, it certainly has mistakes. The first one is when man rejected God back in the Garden. Don't do the same.
