Since there is no topic on my main favorite character, I made one. mrgreen
My theory is Sheik is a female. Female warriors use to bound their chests down so they could fight with the men. Sheik may have a general male apparance, but if you listen to her voice in Ocarina of Time and Super Smash Brothers Melee it does sound a little fem. Another thing is, yes Impa is a female sheikah but there is no need to hide her apparance. That's why she's not wearing tradtional sheikah clothing. ninja

In OoT especially, it's really easy to tell she's a girl.

Yeah it is, but then you have people who think Sheik is a guy still going through puberty and that's why her voice is like that. rolleyes ninja

Actually, if you read the manga you find out that Impa has actually changed sheik from female to male (only by appearance).

I've got a friend that would argue guy, because when you find Ruto in the Water Temple, she says something along the lines of "This guy named Sheik came and he rescued me" or something like that... And I think Sheik is a girl pretending to be a guy, sorta like Alanna the Lioness pretending to be Alan the page in Song of the Lioness (If you've ever read it...). But that's just my opinion.

Ah, the Is-Sheik-Male-Or-Female debate :3 I personally like to think of Sheik as a male. No, I don't think Sheik and Zelda are two different people, but that Zelda used her magic to transform herself into a man to better hide from Ganondorf. In the game her eye color, body type, and voice are all different from her female form. In SSBM, her skin color is different as Sheik. I think that it's much more logical to assume she went all the way and transformed herself completely into a man than assuming she changed just those features. However, it wouldn't be incorrect to refer to Sheik as a female [the SSBM booklet does this] because it's still Zelda's mind in that body.
My ideas are based largely on the manga. Since not everyone's read the manga, here are the pages dealing with Zelda's transformation:

Now, I know the manga is not the game, nor is it a Bible for the Zeldaverse, but I like to refer to it for answers to questions that the game might raise. I mean, it is official and everything :3

i personally think shiek is a female but changed her apperance to look like a man to hide but either way i'd like to difinitively decide this dellemma

Sheik is just Zelda in disguise. So female. Zelda mostly used magic, but she probably bound her chest and stuff too. o.o;

Look out... I'm about to go technical. Shiek is technically a male, even though Zelda is a female. Zelda uses magic to basically, have a sex change for a disguise.
