In every meaningful relationship, there must be mutual interests, mutual respect, mutual trust and the ability to be able to share each other's lives without any fears of betrayal of trust.
When two people are comfortable in each other's company and become lonely when they are apart for any length of time, there is a closeness that is nearly impossible to destroy.
That is the kind of relationship that God desires with each of us.
As flawed as he was, David had that special relationship with God.
God even referred to David as the "Apple of His eye".
God also had that relationship with Jacob.
If we read Deuteronomy 32:8-10, we find these scriptures;
When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when He separated the sons of Adam, He set the bounds of the people according to the number of children of Israel.
For the Lord's portion is His people: Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; He led him about, He instructed him; He kept him as the apple of His eye.
Do we have that intimate, personal friendship and partnership with God?
Have we truly made Christ the absolute center of our lives?
As a nation, it looks as though we have turned our backs on Christ completely.
We see corruption amoung some of the country's political and business leaders.
We seem to be surrounded by lust, greed, anger, depravity, and evil of every kind.
What is most disturbing, there are daily news stories telling of senseless and wanton murders.
It appears that many people have no regard for anyone or anything.
Few people want to take responsibility of their own actions, and fewer want to be held accountable for doing harm to others.
God has been removed from our public lives by a loud minority of people who seem to be offended by Godly virtures.
This demand for removal of God has been accomplished by the alleged need for separation of church and state.
My reading of this amendment to the U.S. Constitution tells me that our federal government was prohibited from establishing a national or state religion.
The same amendment also forbids interfering with the free and open practice of religion.
Having shared all of this, please allow me to encourage you and all of us to pray for revival in our land.
We are in need of revival and a return to a deeper, personal relationship with our Creator and our Savior.
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalm 1:1-3.
May God draw each of us closer to His perfect will.
May He always lead us and direct our paths in such a way as to draw others into our relationship with Christ.
May He stir hearts and bring about revival in our land and around the world.
Amen!
