The Feminist Guild of Gaia!

Current Business:

The guild is still new and needs much work, so that is why I am asking for some assistance.

We need a crew with some education in feminism, sexuality, or female studies. An educated political queer a liberated male! Anyone who has got a couple of books under their belt. Basically to judge this start posting and I'll start electing people for positions.

sabre_the_bogle because of her repeated donations and active participation will be our vice president. heart Thank you lady!

Secondly, I'd like to have somekind of contest to make feminist banners to help promote our guild. We have a fair sum of gold, from our gracious donators, left over which I need to tally. I was thinking there could be some sort of cash prize for the most sucessful ones.

Other than that. Start posting!

Share your favourite quotes, articles, books, or just opinions.
Try to be "literate" in terms of posting on gaia, but don't be afraid of posting playful and entertaining topics.

Be respectful of everyone's view and be open to new ideas.

If any problems arise as we're posting please ask question in the Suggestions sticky. Thank you for all your help.

Hi, I would like to help out with the crew. As far as feminsit literature, do you want strickly philosophy or just literature in general.

As far as literature in general I took a course in college called post-revoloutionary feminists lit which was very interesting. Basically it was a cross section of post-revolutionary women's views from america to zimbobway.

Um, probably my favorite book from that course was "The Handmaid's Tale" that everyone should read. It's by Margaret Atwood.

As far as feminsit philosophy goes, I really line up more with first wave feminism than 2nd and 3rd(being pro-life and all) but I do like the way feminism is heading for the most part.

Anyways, more about me personally, Im a nursing student, a mother, a wife, and very determined to stop sexism. It's ridiculous that in this day and age women are still not payed the same as men, given adequate accomodations for the fact that sometimes they have babies, or looked upon as equally skilled as men.

Anyways, I guess that's all. Thanks for the invite to the guild smile

Well, I'm a gay male who has a lot of knowledge about the feminist movement in general, and who has an interest in all sorts of literature, not strictly feminist. I can't really say if I've read a lot of feminist literature, but I read a lot, so there's that.

I don't know if I'm what you were looking for in a gay male, as a mod, but I am a mod in other guilds, and I have experience.

If you guys could put a poll in each thread you make that would be really nice. I went around earlier today and added them in.

Would you like to make that a rule?

If so, We could make a "Rules" sticky, or something.

PM me if you want to work on a rules sticky, that we can present to the other crew members. (I was just dubbed a crew member today. <3)

I said something like this earlier but I deleted it 'cause I was all like, "Oh, I shouldn't make any commitments because of [insert all sorts of deadlines this week]." But... heck, I changed my mind: xp

I'm not asking to be crew or anything, but I have graphic making skills if you ever need a mini banner, banners to advertise, and a little layout for the guilds front page if you're interested.

An example of my work is in my profile.

(Oh, and I am aware of the banner contest. I just need to whip up something first.)

Well, I'm an open minded male that can look at things objectively and I've modded in other guilds.

(:

I just finished my Women in US history course and I think I'm pretty educated about sexuality and the whole body networking system. whee

Let me know if you need any help!

ps. I'll try to whip something up for a banner! One for the guild list screen and do you want anything for the front page? Just say how big you want it and I can put something together. (I love making pretty things like banners and stuff)

Hi. Was a kinda wondering if I could apply for the job of moderator, if that's still allowed. whee

Credentials:

- I'm on Gaia most everyday. I check for new posts in all guilds I'm in whenever I'm on Gaia. Thus, I can catch spam, trolls, etc. quickly. Basic guild maintenence stuff.

- I don't have a long list of feminist literature I've read, but I am fairly educated in it. Plus I keep up with feminist news via online newspapers, blogs, and reading magazines (Time, Newsweek, etc.)

- Graphics are my speciality. Any picture the guild needs, I can whip up.
