So hello, I'm Milk. I'm a 19 year old Canadian female (my birthday is March 1st -winkwinknudgenudge-). Craft-wise I focus on knitting but would love to learn to crochet, do some paper making, and maybe even bookbinding. I also want to learn to sew, not just because then I can make what I want but also because I'm really interested in Lolita fashion and that stuff can be way expensive. My size isn't so common in regular stores... so I'm not sure how that translates to Lolita stores. I also want to bake and cook more. Maybe garden some. I like the who DIY, uh, culture a lot. I didn't want to say "thing" even though that's what first came to mind. I'm pretty sure it's sort of a culture on its own... isn't it? =/ I'm unsure.

I'm a sun sign pisces, moon sign gemini, and rising sign taurus. I'm still learning tarot but seem to be fairly proficient... sort of. I don't have any significant negative feedback at least. xd That being said I don't believe in any of it - nothing supernatural or "real" about it at least. Dundundun. That doesn't change that I'll do readings for believers and generally chat about it. I find it fun. It can relax me. It has practical uses (at least for me). Yay. I also want to learn to read playing cards since it seems interesting and gets noticed less than tarot when you're shuffling them on the bus.

2012/13 is going to be my high school grad year (I'm 2 years late xp ) and I'm also doing some university courses part time so I probably wont be around as much as I'd like but I will be here. I'll try to do crafty things and post about it here. That being said I want to continue my schooling into the Child and Youth Care field. I'm interested in working at youth centers, camps, and the like but we'll see where my schooling takes me. In the end I sort of would prefer to be a house wife/mother. I want to home school my kids and maybe have an etsy store. And garden - lots and lots of gardening.

Yeah, the little text header was made by me and has a picture I took of some of my recent knitting as the image. I can do some for others if they like that sort of thing... and stuff... yeah. Gimp is great. -cough-

Look, I have relevant pintrest boards... yeah.

These are my two current on the go projects.
This is the third time I've done the cloth. It's really easy. I knit it mostly when watching tv. Right now I'm hooked on catching up on Breaking Bad (I just started it a week ago-ish).
The green thing is a phone cozy. I'm going to be knitting two of them. This is the first one I've done and I'm about half way through. It's basically a 2x2 rib and gives a nice texture.

Huzzah, another multi-crafty person! As you noticed on my intro yesterday, I can't decide what I like best. XD

Good luck with school! Hope it leaves you some time to be creative and work on projects.

Hehe. Hopefully, yes. whee
I don't think I want to play favorites with my crafts. I know I'm going to go through waves of liking one more than the other then moving on and on and cycling through.

Thanks! Me too. If nothing else I'll do easy knit projects on the bus. xd

One thing that's nice when working with lots of different crafts is that a lot of materials and tools can overlap, so you don't have to go out and buy tons of new stuff every time you want to try something new. Well, sometimes. I have a craft supply-buying addiction. >_>

That's a good point. Knitting and crocheting overlap for me a lot 'cause they use the same material and I started with knitting first. One thing I picked up was a crochet hook or two to help pick up dropped stitches. xp
The book binding and paper making should overlap too. If done right. Maybe even some scrapbooking if I pick that up for cover designs. I can see the possibilities.

I can understand the addiction. Every time I see yarn I think of the possiblities. Same with pretty much everything I see now-a-days. All crafty and diy. Bah. Even milk jugs! You can make two types of shovels from them.

Finished the cell phone case. Thinking I'll be able to finish the cloth when my significant other gets back and we can finish the episode of Breaking Bad we started. whee

I have been doing some knitting. I'm even launching a knitting project aimed at knitting a quilt for charity while teaching kids and perhaps visiting elders while doing so. So I'm really excited to have such a project. Here's to that working out! biggrin

I don't have pictures of what I've been knitting but I wanted to share what my current project is. I'm learning to hand sew 'cause I'm really really interested in lolita and lolita inspired clothing. I've always sort of like styles similar to it and I asked my mom to make me a petticoat for christmas which she has agreed to. She may even make me some bloomers. So I'm really excited and figured I should learn to hand sew so that doesn't go to waste.

Here's the first thing I've completed:

I used this tutorial as my base: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5clO49Ie0Vg&feature=related
Instead of just ironing edges on the bow body I backstitched the lace onto the ironed edges then did the running stitch ruffle in the center. Before securing the middle strap I made a small button hole then sewed it on upside down, just loose enough so I could flip it. It looks fairly professional so I'm quite happy. It's my first hand sewn project. Because I have button holes on the backs, other than the hair clip option, I can attach them to a top blouse button and (as you'll see in my next project) I can attatch them to knee high socks.

This is actually what I started with:

I'm taking old leggings of mine and making knee high socks. I washed them in oxy clean today to whiten them up a bit after cutting them (as you can see above). I have elastic I'm going to sew into the the tops tomorrow along with some lace and - dun dun dun - a button that fits the holes for the bows I made above. Ones that'll hopefully look good even when bows aren't on them. whee So I'm really happy with how everything is going right now. Never thought I'd endeavor to learn to hand sew so I could make skirts and the like but I am and I'm excited.

Side note - once everything is sewn the socks wont go above my knee like the above picture. I'm not adding a lot of lace either. It's a nice subtle medium -ish quality vintage lace from my great grandmas old stash. whee

I'm on pintrest now! [Here's a sort of relevant board of mine] [as well as my to-knit board,] [and a board to encourage me to take up tatting.]

I really need to start posting pictures of the stuff I've made and am working on. xp
