Warmest greetings in the precious name of Jesus!
What is time?
Where does the time we have in this world come from?
How much time is there throughout eternity?
I submit that time was given to us by our Creator, Sustainer and Giver of life.
Time, as we know it, is a gift to us from God.
Time, unlike money, is something we all treasure to some degree.
Some folks waste time, some invest time, some take their time, and others never seem to have enough time to do what needs to be done.
Let's see if we can tie the concept of time, faith, and serving God into one neat package.
If we look at the book of Hebrews, Chapter 11, we see that faith is a thing that allows us to understand time, temporary things, eternal things and just how precious creation is in the sight of God.
Let's look at verses 1-3 in this chapter.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."
Looking at God's Faith Hall of Fame, we see that faith allows us to see how God blesses us with the ability to see things that have not yet happened as though they have already taken place.
God allows us to see the victories before we even face the storms of life.
God not only gives us life, but He gives us TIME and the OPPORTUNITIES to see how HE walks with us during our lives, now and throughout eternity.
Briefly, God allows us 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, which comes out to 168 hours per week.
With me so far?
How many hours do we have per year?
It looks like 8,736 hours per year.
Since we work eight hours, sleep eight hours (on average), which leaves another eight hours to eat, relax, and spend quality time with our families and to serve God our creator.
This begs the question,
"How much time, based on the concept of tithing, does God require of us?"
Based on the non-negotiable ten percent, that would be 16.8 hours per work or 873.6 hours per year.
Relax, these are just numbers.
What God does expect us to do with our time is to use it wisely and take very opportunity to share His love, mercy, and grace with everyone we know.
He expects us to do this every day, as the opportunities arise.
If we are truly grateful for what God has done FOR us, we should also be truly grateful for what He can accomplish THROUGH us to expand His kingdom and to prepare for the day we all stand in His glorious presence.
Hebrews 11:6, gives us some insight.
Heb. 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."
Faith, you see, like TIME is a gift from God which is active and grows when we execise it.
Faith and time are to be used for bringing honor, praise and glory to God.
Your brother in Christ.
