Dropaway Beach & The Crystal Grave

Being on the Coast and also being called Coast City, it is only natural that Coast City has a beach. Dropaway Beach is a lush stretch of golden soft sand that wraps its way almost all the way around the South coastline. A section in the West is out of bounds and used as the U.S Naval Base Port West's perimeter. The rest however, is open for public use and well renowned for its amazing surf and promenade.

Some people were skeptical that Dropaway beach could never be restored but after its completion were rather impressed with it and do say it is as good as it ever has been.

Post Fear Description:
Coast City's famous surf spot was the battleground of The Green Lantern and Nathaniel Grant. During the fight, Ian lost control of one of his constructs and effectively dropped a nuclear bomb on the unsuspecting Yellow Lantern; despite the devastation caused to the beach in the forms of craters and super heated glass, the shoreline was relatively undamaged only suffering from minor concussive damage and a few broken windows which have mostly been repaired using the glass remnants found on the beach.

What's worse is the new Martian Manhunter dug a huge mass grave into the sand; cremated the ashes inside it and through the heat caused a weird phenomena called: "The Crystal Grave". Known as such because the combination of the ashes and the superheated sand caused a strange aurora effect to occur on the glass pool's surface, Coast City Officials are wondering what to do with it and have cordoned it off until a decision is made.

The Hopeful Sea Shell & The Rage Ridden Graffiti:
After the Reign of Fear, the Blue Lantern Anya Summers left a seashell on the Crystal Grave so that the cremated residents of the grave could "hear the sea". Not moments after she left, Atrocitus also came to the Crystal grave but not to pay his respects. Atrocitus reflected on the battle that had happened and the warriors buried within the crystal. However, upon deciding his opinion of the grave, the battle and the participants of said battle Atrocitus simply charged his finger with the Red Plasma of Rage and wrote "Weak" across the Grave's face.

Everything rides on Hope now.

A young woman stood with her toes buried in the soft, yellow sand, sneakers in her left hand, starring at the battle ground of the yellow lantern. She wasn't sure what she was thinking. It was an eerie feeling, standing where someone she hardly knew fell. The spot where hope seemed lost, but hope was never lost with her.

She didn't really understand what happened, just that it happened. She hadn't been paying much attention to the news, lately. Her ear-buds went silent as the song switched to a soft instrumental piece, just right for the occasion.

As she walked along the battleground, Anya wondered what the battle was like but wasn't too inspired to go recreating the event.

Anya began to walk away from the grave site that had been roped off by the local law enforcement. She listened to the waves and turned back around, to watch them. The small breeze played with the ends of her pony tail as she watched the waves reach out to the shoreline and pull back. It reminded her of Jude.

Her brother was a great kid but got involved with the wrong kind of people. She knew that Nathaniel was a Yellow Lantern. They weren't exactly the heroes of the stories they were written in. Anya knew first hand that sometimes the 'bad guys' weren't all bad. Sometimes they had no choice and were then a victim of circumstance. Sometimes they did the wrong things for the right reasons. That's what happened to Jude and sometimes, there was no easy way out.

Anya glanced at the crystal grave. She hoped that the person who's remains lay there, that he was good. No, she believed that he was, no matter what he did. There was a balance in the universe. No one could be all bad, just like no one could be all good. But it was the traces of good that mattered to Anya.

The music switched to a lively tune, in Anya's headphones. She checked the time before smiling at the grave. It wasn't a smile of happiness, but one of hope, one that knew somewhere beyond the yellow ring that determined his fate, Nathaniel was good. She picked up a conch, shell that was near her left foot and placed it as close to the grave as she could get it.

"So you can hear the ocean,
" she whispered and stood watching the undecided waves try to reach the shore.

Anya watched the waves for a few minutes before deciding that she would finish her run and find something better to do while she waited for a call that said someone needed her. As long as that someone wasn't Morgan. She didn't know where he was, but she knew that he was alive and well. At least, that was the hope that she clung to.
The search parties had nearly given up, but she hadn't. Morgan was her best friend, he didn't have the will to die.

Anya reached the boardwalk and washed the sand off of the bottom of her feet, before slipping her socks and running shoes on. Her phone buzzed and her heart skipped several beats, before she realized that it wasn't Morgan's ringtone.

"Talk to me," she answered, pulling the headphones from her ears. "There has been an incident in memorial park..." That was all that Anya needed to hear. She quickly hung up and dashed for her car, which had her EMT equipment in the trunk. She slid into the tiny car and sped towards Memorial Park to help where she could. On duty, or not, it was her job.

Status: Well; Unharmed
Mood: Calm, as far as I can be considered calm.
Company: The body of Nathaniel Grant

A loomed in the shadows cast by the scattered groups of trees that overlooked the Dorpaway Beach. Even in the dark shadows the yellow-golden eyes that seemed to shine with a light of their own could be easily seen. Below the eyes could be seen dozens of long, sharp, white teeth, each one looking like a long, somewhat thinner fang. However, even though the overall face of the figure could not be seen, anyone could have guessed that the figure's mouth was twisted into a snarl of a smile.

The eerie eyes tracked a female figure as she moved slowly away from a crystal object, off towards a wooden structure in the distance. As the woman moved, the figure's eyes locked onto one of the woman's hands, specifically a ring that she wore. Even at the distance he was at the figure recognized the ring.....a blue power ring. So the woman had to be a Blue Lantern. Earth was known for its Green Lantern, but never before had Atrocitus taken note of a Blue Lantern on Earth. Yet there one was, walking on the beach, unaware of the doom that loomed not too terribly far from her.

However the figure made no move towards the woman, but instead simply watched as she passed by. Once the woman was in her vehicle and out of sight, the figure moved from the shadows, allowing the Earth's sun to reveal his appearance slowly. A uniform, similar to that of the Green Lantern's, could be seen, schemed in black and blood red. On the chest was the symbol of the Red Lantern Corps. However the red color did not stop there. The figure's skin was just as red as his uniform. The being was large, much larger than any human, and instead of regular hands the being had claws.

Soon the figure was standing next to the crystal object, looking down into the crystal. From Ysmault he had been able to observe the events that transpired, his only regret being that the yellow power ring that Nathaniel wore had been destroyed. Yet another reason to hate the Green Lantern Corps. Still, they had destroyed this Yellow Lantern, and for Atrocitus that was a good thing. Less allies for Sinestro and all of that such stuff.

Still, the Yellow Lantern did not deserve his prestigious memorial. He lost. He had failed, and against a Green Lantern at that. True, it all worked for Atrocitus' benefit in one way or another, but still. The man was weak, and weakness deserved to be marked as such. Reaching out with a clawed finger, Atrocitus placed it finger lightly on the crystal, right above where Nathaniel's face would be under the crystal. Red energy soon coated the finger as it was drug across the surface of the crystal. Once done, a word shone red across the crystal. 'Weak'. That was all it said. Soon the glow vanished, leaving behind a black color, as if the crystal itself had been burnt.

A rumble of a chuckle erupted from the towering red figure's throat before the figure was consumed by a red light that suddenly shot up into the sky, vanishing quickly. For a few more seconds the laugh echoed across the beach before vanishing just as the figure did.

O.O.C.

Together with our hellish hate,

We'll burn you all, that is your Fate!"

1 Week On 16/01/2014
After The Reign of Fear and the eternity it seemed to last, time once again began to fly by like normal until eventually, a week had passed. The main areas that bore the brunt of the assault: Coast City, Metropolis and Gotham easily begun their repairs and using their experience in cleaning up after super-powered individuals shortened the process to take little time at all.

Now that it was all over, the heroes now united could return to their normal lives. They could go to school. They could work. And eventually they could go back to their duties as superheroes; what's more is that more and more Legacies also began to develop. The world was finally recovering, the Void filling.

But just as the Crystal Grave was now inscribed with the word "WEAK" across its beautiful face, more and more things began to change. The White House shuddered. The President was unsure. How was he meant to deal with the Gods Now Amongst his people again? How was he meant to reign in people so powerful that they could decimate a whole army with a shoddy construct and a misfire?

The World was on the edge of its seat...

And the Universe looked on expectantly...

The ocean was beautiful even in the dusk's Sun rays. It added a certain type of glimmer that eased the mind as they danced upon the waves. As relaxing as it was, the ocean was never relaxed. Waves were only forward movement of the ocean's water due to the oscillation of water particles by the frictional drag of wind over the water's surface. The tides were only the gravitational pull of the Sun and Moon on Earth's ocean. There was no peace in any of this, but yet. Jane felt at ease.

Strands of her red hair floated lightly in the wind as it blew against her. The cooling breeze only added slight corniness to the whole scenario. She had come there to clear her mind, something she couldn't do in a cave where she knew work had to be done. Here it was different. Jane sighed as she sat down next to the crystal grave. "How did you manage to pull off an invasion? A full scale invasion.... You were a guy with a troubled past, who seemed to make a change and joined the army. Right?" She asked, her eyes glancing over at the grave. That was stupid, he can't talk back.

"You were leading a platoon when your troops were ambushed and slaughtered as you tucked tailed and run with those you could. Then you were discharged.... Why did you become a Yellow Lantern then? Was it something that happened in the Middle East? Or did you never change..." Jane mumbled softly.

Her eyes drifted to the ocean in front of her but as she looked up, she noticed a flock of sea gulls. Their flight pattern was random, but it was still organized. It wasn't as if they were flying in random directions. And that was when it clicked. "You united them... even if you failed, you united them nonetheless. But the reason you failed, was because heroes stood against you... they united as wel-"

Jane's thoughts were suddenly interrupted when her phone buzzed from a notice. Not waiting, she dug her hand into the black hoodie's pocket and pulled it out. Her eyes scanned the notice before clicking the video. It wasn't what she expected in the slightest. The video feed had come from a cell phone, but from the looks of it. The brunette was unstable, the male would be hard to track down especially with his face covered, but the brown haired girl would be easy. Taking a snapshot of the frame, she used a facial recognition app on her smart phone. It took about ten seconds to get results of who she might be. "Isla... that's an interesting name..."

There was something about her powers though; it felt as if they were connected to her. As if they were the same, but it was only her imagination. She didn't know this girl. Her eyes drifted over to Nathaniel, smiling as she got up. "Nice chatting with ya Nathan, sucks you had to die."

xxxIsla hadn’t really thought of where she was going, just that she needed to get out of there whatever the case. For the most part the girl stayed high enough in the sky not to be noticed by those down below, but when she neared the shoreline of Coast City the girl lowered herself before landing gracefully on the beach, which from a quick glance around didn’t seem to be too busy save for one or two people in the immediate area. Yet there was too much on the girl’s mind for her to really care about whether or not they could see her. Sheer intuition had already told her that her public identity was most likely compromised by now, having ran straight into the heart of the chaos while everyone else was fleeing, but there was still a faint glimmer of hope that no one had stayed long enough to witness everything happen, and thankfully the girl hadn’t gone too deep into the Red and drawn from some of the more powerful animals that would have made it plainly obvious she was anything but an average human.

xxxWhen she finally began to feel the onset of a headache in the back of her mind, Isla stopped thinking about that, turning her attention back to the beach and its lack of people. The decrease in volume of visitors wasn’t too shocking to Isla – she couldn’t help but to notice a lot of people were staying away from the place in the past week. This was understandable, considering the lingering memories that many of the citizens would have of the events that transpired here, on top of the constant reminder left behind, known simply by the citizens as the ‘Crystal Grave’. The grave had an eerie feel to it, and the more Isla looked at it the more uncomfortable she felt, so the girl never tended to stay long on that part of the beach. Today was no exception – after a soft landing in the sand, the girl barely even stopped to gape at the crystalline construct, choosing instead to find her way to the nearest road and hail a cab.

xxxThere was more than enough excitement for one day, and part of her just wanted to crawl into bed and sleep for the next twelve hours, no matter how unreasonable that might be. Part of her had a feeling that the fatigue came as a result of such extensive use of her abilities – there was only maybe two or three times where Isla had exerted herself to this level, and every single time that she could remember, Isla was drained by the end of it. Was she really that weak? Her memories flashed to Vixen, a true hero, her mentor and her ‘mother’. Did Isla have any potential to be on that level? Never once did Isla really want to follow in Mari’s footsteps, but no matter how hard she tried to avoid conflict, her powers would somehow find a way to make her take action, as was the case during dinner – ’Oh s**t! The dinner!’ Isla’s eyes widened when she suddenly remembered that she’d left the restaurant abruptly. Judging from the position of the sun, Isla figured it was too late to go back now and prayed she’d never encounter Aoshi again, at least until he forgot about her and she could make a better impression.

Jane really hadn't thought out her next move yet and had only planned on leaving the beach, researching, and taking out her first target. As simple as it sounded, she still wasn't sure about this girl. Why? Why did she project the energy forms of animals? Was it like her powers, but in a different form? It was bit puzzling, but it was something she could think about or confirm when she did finally encounter that girl, Isla.

Slowly, she turned around to walk away from the grave and leave the beach. Until she saw a girl land on the beach and she was sure of it. She had been jumping already or anything, she landed. As Jane walked towards solid land, she studied the girl by channeling the sight of a hawk. She was the girl from the video, that Isla girl. However, why did she come to the beach? From the looks of it, she seemed to be troubled, but she couldn't be sure. Though, in order to approach her, she had to do something smart, logical, teen-like. She couldn't be like a creeper even if she technically was by description.

As Jane quickly, pulled together her facade, she headed over to Isla. Slowly, she removed her hands out of her jacket pockets and jogged up to her. "Hey! You're the girl that was on the news!" Jane smiled, showing a mild case of surprise on her face. It wasn't all fake, especially since she was surprised, not just completely. However her smiled faded quickly, "Oh my God, I'm so sorry. I much sound like a total creeper. I just think what you did out there was awesome. It was almost like you were "Supergirl"."

Dean ‘Aquaman’ Meriweather

With the waves crashing onto the shore, Dean wished the last bit of his trip to be slow. Dropaway Beach – what a disaster. A final resting place for many of his people and even though he had no part in it… it was his inability to act that bothers him the most. If he had been in Atlantis when the decision was made, this could’ve ended differently and lives would’ve been spared. Instead, the battle ensued and now he’s forced to deal with the aftermath. He could only dream of the political tension he’ll have to deal with.

Upon nearing the beach, the Atlantean allowed the waves to carry him closer. Washing up on the coast, he found no words to express the scene. It was a beautiful sight. The fading light of the setting sun was coupled with an array of crystal colouring. The glass was glistening and the shore was almost clear of people. Instantly, Dean crouched to place his right palm against the glass as if he was admiring its twisted appearance. Yet still in the beauty, he could feel sorrow. His heart sank, and his knees almost buckled in thought of the lives wasted away that day. What a tragedy.

Coming back to himself, the King shook off his thoughts of misery and stood as tall as he could. He embraced the breeze beating on his tattooed back, and closed his eyes to allow the dead a moment of silence. ”Goodbye, my brothers.” the blonde whispered to the wind in finality. Even though Atlanteans will carry a violent stigma on the surface, he couldn’t care less. The ones that died on this beach died bravely and with trust in Atlantis’s leaders. It’s unfortunate they’ll never see retribution.

Dean found his thoughts interrupted by a “Supergirl!” comment and his head shot up immediately. The blonde turned his attention to two girls standing not too far from him. He thought about going over to find out what the commotion was – perhaps one of them was the famed superhero herself. He gave his trident one twirl and decided against it. Instead, he pulled over to the steps leading down to the beach and collapsed himself on it to sit peacefully in thought with his comrades.

xxxxJolted from her thoughts, Isla turned, staring at the girl who spontaneously began to speak to her. Isla had been so focused on the idea of damage repair with respects to Aoshi - how, if the situation arose, she would face him again in the awkwardness – that she was slowly losing sight of the physical world, letting her body go on autopilot as she pondered the thought. So when the girl spoke to her, Isla was caught off guard, jumping slightly as she turned to the girl and stared at her dumbly. Isla only managed to catch the tail end of Jane’s initial sentence – something about the news… ’Oh great..’ Isla thought, mentally kicking herself. ’I’m on the news now. Of course. This is just perfect.’ Just how stupid was she? Rushing into the chaos so recklessly, knowing full well that something bound to happen where the media was concerned. Isla stopped in her tracks, turning to Jane just as she made a comparison to Supergirl.

xxxTilting her head to the side, Isla gave the stranger a puzzled look. ”Me? On the news?” She repeated in an amused but confused tone. The confusion in her voice was mostly genuine – this was the first time Isla had heard of her little news appearance. Isla looked up as if in thought. ”I think you’ve got the wrong person,” She said finally with a little shrug. ”Sorry to disappoint… it would be exciting to live the life of Supergirl though, I could only imagine what she has to go through on a daily basis. All these superheroes are popping up in the news more often these days, it’s kind of scary if you ask me.” She said, shrugging again.

”I’ve just been here on my evening jogs… not necessarily news-worthy even for a slow day.” Isla explained, though this time it sounded less convincing and more easily detectable. But there was no turning back now, she had to commit. ”I’m part of the track team at school… hey, I’d love to stay and chat, but I really should get going. It was nice to meet you…” Smiling apologetically, Isla turned her attention back to the sandy beach, awkwardly looking around to see if anyone else was around.

xxx’The faster I get a cab and get out of here, the quicker I’ll be away from people… I’ve had enough interaction for today…' She thought, feeling the gaze of another individual just behind her when Jane had mentioned the idea of Supergirl – a trident-toting blonde who she could only assume was cosplaying the man once known as Aquaman. Cosplay wasn’t uncommon in a city as big as Coast City, and his costume took the cake as far as Aquaman was concerned, but that was neither here nor there. ”I’ll.. uh… see you around.” She said, a little rushed as she abruptly turned on the ball of her foot and began to jog away at a brisk pace, albeit clumsily as if she were severely off balance as Isla wasn’t fully accustomed to running in the sand, which wasn't really helping her ‘I’m just an innocent jogging bystander’ story.

Company: Dean.
Thoughts: Hello, Handsome...Atlantean?
Location: Beach

[Taliana Lance][Sonokinesis][Legacy Initiative]

A warm breeze swept across the beach, wrapping Taliana's exposed legs in bliss. She hadn't been to this beach in years, and was sure to take advantage of that now. Although she was here to see Jonathan, he hadn't picked up his phone at home, so she assumed he was busy. So the siren would pre-occupy herself here before making a trek up to his estate. Taliana breathed in the ocean air as she began making the walk from her car down to the beach area. The blonde was currently wearing her bikini, a silk beach skirt, flip flops, and a sun hat. She was dressed for the occasion, and ready to have some fun! Most would find it silly to come to this beach so nonchalantly after everything that had happened with Nathaniel. Her blue eyes scanned the area as she came to the stone steps that led down to the beach. There was still graffiti along the beach walls, among other notable marks of destruction. In spite of it all, the beach still retained the breath taking quality she had grown accustomed to when she was younger. "So many memories...." The rhythmic lapping of the waves brought her back to a time much simpler than this. When dreams felt like reality, and peace truly felt achievable. Her mind felt so clear. All the stress, and the doubt seemed to dissipitate from her thoughts. This is what she needed; a place where even her own thoughts had to be silent. Hell, she could shut out all sound but never achieved that herself!

The siren continued down the steps as a blonde about her age caught her eye. She smiled gently to herself. It seems she wasn't the only one who came to this beach to find some peace of mind. The man had tattoos running up his back, and was dressed in a garb that reminded her of something out a fantasy book. Well, technically, she was living a fantasy book. That was beside the point though. It was reminiscent of what she saw many atlanteans wearing. Could it be Arthur Curry?! Taliana had met the Altantean king before, but she didn't remember the body art. Plus, she never found Arthur attractive since he was her senior at the time. This blonde male intrigued the seductress. And we all know Taliana can't pass up opportunities like this. The blue eyed beauty sat down next to him, taking off her sun hat before speaking. "This is a great place to sit down and reflect, hm?! I suppose the beauty of this Ocean has much to do with you." Taliana spoke with genuine tilt of her head, signaling that she was not fooled, and knew of his Atlantean heritage. "I'm Taliana. What's your name, handsome?"

Dean ‘Aquaman’ Meriweather

With a couple minutes passing, Dean soon found himself accompanied with another blonde. She was cute, human of course, and very open. This caught the Atlantean’s attention because not many people are very quick to sit with a tattooed man holding a trident. At the same time, he hoped that she knew he was Atlantean and was comfortable with it. It would only show that there exists acceptance of his kind. Dean smiled back with her and introduced himself, ”Dean Meriweather, Love.” He wasn’t too used to being approached on the surface by strangers and especially while grieving the lost.

”It is quite beautiful isn’t it? the Atlantean replied with a chuckle. As much as he would like to take responsibility for its beauty, he had nothing to do with it. It was created before he even existed and the most he could do is make it calm or angry. Dean shook his head at her assumption and kept his smile. So she does know about his heritage – though his attire was quite the indicator, ”No, Love. The ocean’s beauty is a thing we all contribute to.” Dean wasn’t one to be all philosophical, but she caught him in a moment where he wasn’t necessarily himself. His mind had been pondering the tragedies that occurred on the beach and well, he had been one of those most affected.

Shaking off his thoughts, he stood tall and extended his hand out to the young girl. He needed company and someone to talk to. Perhaps this was fated. Perhaps she’d be the one to talk him out of feeling angry at the wrong people or maybe take the topic off of his mind. ”I’m having dinner, join me.” the Atlantean spoke with a confident yet welcoming voice. Not too far from them was a boulevard renowned in the city for its restaurant and shopping. ”I know this great sushi restaurant,” he added.

A frown tainted her face; Jane had to use overreaction of a child in order to enhance what she was feeling. Sadly, that wasn't a power she could channel. However, she figured it wouldn't be easy to get her to fess up. She knew why she was trying to hide it, which was the easy part. The hard part was how to exploit her weakness in her ability to mask the truth? The frowning red head sighed, shoving her hands in sweats' pockets.

Jane glanced to the side for a brief second, only to catch the sight of a man sporting a trident. You got to be kidding me... Either this girl attracted the wrong type of attention or the guy on the beach had a bad sense of humor. She was unprepared and it was showing in her performance. If Slade could see her now, he'd be disappointed, but she wouldn't even give a sh*t like usual. The only problem she had was that, this was her only chance and she had to play it smart. Though, why was Isla so confident that no one had seen her use her powers? She saw the manifestations herself; with her very own eyes. Unless, people usually couldn't see the aura at all.

By time Isla had finish, 'It was nice to meet you.' Jane was ready for a counter. Doing subtle hair flip, she tilted her head as if she was a confused dog. "I saw you do it!" Jane said a bit too strongly, playing the part of a teenager a bit too well. There was a brief shock expression on her face as if she was surprised it came out that loud. Jane slowly took a few steps towards her, hoping she would stop." I saw you inside the aura of the squirrel, beetle, eagle, and worm.... And I know I wasn't imagining it." She said, softly as she regain composure and reassure the fact no one had heard what she had just said. She wasn't exactly sure of how to come out with the fact; she had powers as well, but for now. She just needed to reel her in.

xxxAll it took was three words. ’…inside the aura…’ They reverberated in her head and brought Isla to a stand-still, a look of panic on her face as she bowed her head for a moment, hiding her face from the stranger. ’How did she know…? How was she even able to see it in the first place?’ Isla thought, recalling her old memories of the few times she’d accessed her powers, only for others to ask what she really meant by the flying animals that accompanied her or asked what she was doing. It was then that Isla deduced only she could see the avatars of the animals she emulated when tapping into the Red. But this girl saw, and not only did she see, she listed off the animals that Isla had borrowed from with pinpoint accuracy. How was Isla to respond to that? What could she say? Regaining control of her emotions, Isla turned, raising her head again. She was still visibly confused, even though there was a slight look of panic in her eyes.

xxx”I’m sorry?” She asked, looking quizzically at Jane. Isla desperately wished that Mari were here to save her now, whisk her away in the car so she’d never have to deal with people again until the ordeal and cleanup and excitement of it all died down and she could return to her normal life. It wasn’t that Isla found it hard to talk to strangers, it was Jane in particular… something about her seemed off, almost like a gut feeling. The girl knew something, and Isla didn’t particularly want to stick around to find out just what this something was. ’How do I dig myself out of this one…?’ Thinking on her feet, Isla decided to go with the easiest option – ignorance. ”Inside the aura? I really don’t know what you’re talking about miss…” Isla told her patiently, frowning as if she were concerned for Jane’s wellbeing. ”And besides, I don’t think you can trust everything you see on TV, they do a lot of editing these days, video processing software and stuff… maybe you should take your mind off of that… even if you aren’t imagining things, maybe you just need to rest?”
