Suicide Slum
Southside, known better by it's occupants as Suicide Slum, is a neighborhood in Metropolis that has been known to have a much higher rate of crime than the rest of the city. It is a down market area that many who can not afford the apartments and penthouses of the main city live, the property prices of the Slums being lower due to the corruption. Suicide Slums has been, at various times, the stomping ground of several superheroes, including the Guardian (who protected the Newsboy Legion) and Black Lightning. The human personification of the New God, Black Racer, lied paralyzed in a hospital located in the Slums, which is also where he was eventually murdered. Darkseid's lackey, Sleez, operated here for a time, until he was slain. It is also the home of Jose Delgado, a schoolteacher who is also a masked vigilante Gangbuster. Suicide Slum was reputed as a lost cause that many Metropolis residents believe not even heroes can do anything about.

Allies: None Enemies: None, yet. Saving: Someone soon. A strange green, glowing door emerged in the darkness of an alley and opened; revealing what some might recognize as the small staff cupboard of the Ace o' Clubs and a figure standing in its frame. The figure, although clad in shadow, was tall and quite skinny with a large green ring glowing on his finger and as he stepped out into the dimming streetlight; it was revealed that the mysterious figure was actually Earth's newest Green Lantern, all geared up in his new regalia, which he designed himself and ready to go out on patrol. The door slammed shut behind him and completely dematerialized in a strange sort of green fog that took the shape of numbers and letters and at some points whole words. Looking around with his newly whited eyes thanks to his Green Mask, bartender Ian Wickes was a superhero and also determined to get to bed sort of early so he could wake up for his class tomorrow. He looked towards the ring and spoke gently to it almost as if it was a person: "Ring, how much power do you have?"
The ring was quiet for a few seconds, only letting out the quietest of ticking sounds, almost as if it was thinking and calculating the precise amount of energy it had left. "Ring precise power level at 67.8921%, recharge advised."
Great, just what I need. It was a little hard to carry around his Power Battery and still being a rookie, he hadn't quite got the hang of storing it in the ring's pocket dimension like all the other lanterns seemed to; in fact, he kept it at home, in plain sight, on his desk so he could swivel round in his office chair as and when he liked to recharge. It also didn't help that he had to do it once every twenty-four hours anyway because he was a rookie and the guardians didn't quite trust him with a time-free will meter that just ran out at zero until he recharged. It was like one fo those shitty facebook games where you had so much energy to do stuff for so much time before it just magically ran out and you had to either go through loads of painstakingly trivial crap or just buy it. Looking towards his ring though and done griping about it internally, Ian or better yet, the Green Lantern set about to rectifying his current power deficiency.
"Ring, cheat code: Up, down, left, left, square, circle, L2, start." "Preset Command recognized. Creating warp hole to Power Battery."
Ian's eidetic memory made it easy for him to not only remember but encrypt his preset ring commands as different console cheat codes. It had saved his life more than once during his training as a white circle on Oa and as he reached his hand through the portal and knocked the ring against his power battery, Ian began to recite the oath and concentrated hard on keeping the wormhole open. Because if he didn't he was about lose an arm. If anything, this was proof that cutting corners came with risks.
"~ In Blackest Day, In Darkest Night... No evil shall escape my sight... Let those who worship evils might, Beware my power... GREEN LANTERN'S LIGHT!"
The Green lantern's aura rippled and you could feel his energy burs from his as his ring regained it's charge and he removed his hand from the wormhole. The wormhole disappeared soon after his hand was free and looking towards the night sky, he lifted himself off the ground slowly and began looking around for trouble. He was a little bit of a target, bright green against the black canvas of the sky but Ian had faith and to be honest, there weren't many supervillains and flyers running around at this time at night; it would be street thugs if anything and bullets. Nothing too dangerous. Let's just get this over and done with, I can't afford another missed class. O.O.C ~

Nathaniel Grant "Burn like his power, Sinestro's Might"
Allegiance: Sinestro Corps Status: Healthy Thoughts: Target Located. Commencing OperationHe had been waiting in the skies for close to an hour now, his form invisible due to the light being refracted around him. The only way he knew the time was by the constant checking of his ring and the setting sun. It was night now, the moon was beginning to rise. And unlike his target, Nathaniel blended in with the darkness. His suit being mostly black save for a few yellow lines that all intersected on his chest, where the Sinestro Corps emblem was proudly displayed. And he did take pride in his organization. After all, who else can say he was the only human accepted into one of the most feared Corps in the universe? Though that moniker ostracized him when he first came to Qward, he eventually earned respect from his fellow Corps members. Even the mighty Arkillo respected the fear he exudes. The same one that would eat you for breakfast if you failed even one task given by him.
"Target has been acquired. Ian Wickes, Green Lantern of Sector 2814, is nearby."
His ring stated. Finally, his waiting paid off. For his target was now rising above the city, no doubt looking to fight some crime tonight. Though he won't be fighting mere thugs and robbers. At least not after Nathaniel's done with him. Descending, he began to pick up speed, an evil smirk painting his face behind the helmet his ring made to hide his identity. As he got closer and closer to the unsuspecting Green Lantern, he let his cloak fade, thrusting one fist out, aiming to hit the Green Lantern straight in the face. The velocity he was going would be enough to hopefully drive his opponent straight into the asphalt below them. Provided he connected or his opponent didn't grow wise to him approaching.
Behind the helmet, his grin faded, and he clenched the fist that had the yellow ring on, a ring now glowing the same light as his body was. The emblem on his chest now alight as if lit by an intense golden flame.

Allies: None. Enemies: SINESTRO CORPS GUY! Saving: SELF!
Flying about, Ian's eyes scanned the streets below, tonight looked like it was bound to be a quiet night and Ian was kind of glad that was the case; with everything goin on right now in his life, plus his hero duties, it was all beginning to get on his back and weigh him down. And it was just as the wise men somewhere far away once said: "You will carry that weight." Ian could definitely testify to that. The piles of homework sat on his desk beckoned him but that call of duty was seconded by the call of the warm soft pillow on his bed. Sleep's a good idea, Ian thought to himself smirking and closing his eyes I wonder if I will it the ring will go on auto-pilot?
As if in response to his request, Ian's ring did go onto a sort of Auto-Pilot but not for the express purpose of taking him to his bed and allowing him to rest easy for tonight; it began flashing brightly indicating danger and soon even began to give vocal warnings about the incoming threat to Ian's safety: "Yellow Energy Build Up Detected. Immediate evasive action advised." Ian's eyes opened wide as he pushed his dreams of an early night to one side and bent his fore arm and imagined a small mini map, like the ones you saw in the bottom of video game HUDs, a small circle appearing just above the ring showing Ian as a triangle and a yellow dot for the Sinestro Corps member whom was trying to sneak up on him.
Looking at the dots he realized that the enemy was right on top of him, both in a metaphorical and literally; the guy was right on top of him but the Ian couldn't see him. Panicking the Green Lantern turned himself upwards a little too soon, watching as the Yellow Lantern emerged from his stealth and smashed him straight in the face. s**t... Forgot about invisibility...
Ian plummeted towards the ground, creating a creator in the ground and Ian simply laying in it, creaking at the bones as he gripped a jutting rock and pulled himself onto his feet. "Wow," Ian groaned, rubbing his throbbing head "Did anyone get the number of the yellow car that just hit me? If so, I claim the punch buggie." O.O.C ~

Nathaniel Grant "Burn like his power, Sinestro's Might"
Allegiance: Sinestro Corps Status: Healthy Thoughts: So this is the Green Lantern? Looks a lot scrawnier than I imagined. This won't take long.Sneak attack successful. Though Ian was able to notice his arrival, he couldn't dodge what he couldn't see. Until it was too late. Smirking behind the helmet, he watched as his victim tried to pull himself out of the crater his body created by plummeting from the sky. Leisurely, Nathaniel descended, folding his arms around his chest and waiting patiently for Ian to get up on his feet. Meanwhile, he took in every detail of his opponent's stature. And he was not impressed.
"Wow, the Green Lantern Corps are getting desperate for new recruits if they picked up a scrawny kid like you," Nathaniel mockingly said, chuckling under his breath. He wouldn't even last a day under Arkillo's tutelage. In fact, Nathaniel would guess Arkillo would have him for breakfast on first glance. The Sinestro Corps member certainly looked intimidating, being everything Ian was not: tall, muscular, with a confident, or more like arrogant, attitude around him.
"Well, come on Ian Wickes, the Guardians gave you that ring for a reason. Now is the time to prove your worth. Otherwise, it won't be as fun for me when I grind you and your pathetic will into the dirt," Nathaniel was challenging Ian, the last words filled with as much bile as he can muster as he punctuated throwing down the gauntlet by willing an intricately manufactured chainsaw into his hand. Crafted by yellow light, it roared to life, dripping a darker yellow liquid onto the asphalt, as if the very instrument had recently carved into human flesh. He then without a word, charged forth, swinging the yellow construct straight at Ian's head, the glowing blade cutting an arc into the air.

Allies: None. Enemies: Sinestro Guy. Saving: Self.
Ian straightened himself up, clicking the bones and joints in his back to limber up. With the mask on, Ian was somewhat more confident, more at peace with himself. And yeah, he was tall and skinny but what of it, while wielding a construct a Lantern could lift weights into the regions of hundreds of tonnes. Plus, the bigger you were the harder you fall, right? "Really? Runt digs? I thought Yellow was the colour of fear, not pettiness." Ian's eyes focused for a second on the yellow construct that materialized in his hands. It growled as its blades spun but Ian stood vigilant constructing his own weapon around the arm his ring was on. It did the same as all of Ian's constructs, something that the Yellow Lantern would probably find as weird as the Green Lanterns did when they first did. Green letters and numbers floated around Ian's arm, smashing themselves together in order to form Ian's construct, it made no sound but as the strange coding locked itself together; you could tell that the construct unlike many, was not hollow. It was solid, it was steady and Ian waited long enough. For the Yellow Lantern to charge forward and commit. I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid.
Ian knew that to defeat the Yellow Lanterns you had to accept your fear. But being badass when it came to constructs didn't go amiss. At first, Ian's weapon would appear as if it was a simple Gauntlet, with ability buffs towards simple strength and defensive measures. However, the inside of the gauntlet and it's mechanics were actually quite complex and with a slight "click" the gauntlet's mechanism went to work, expelling pressurized gas from the cylinders inside it and launching the balled fist on the gauntlets end, that was the size of Ian's standard fist, straight into the Yellow Lantern's stomach in a split second. Commited, it would be hard for him to dodge and most of all it would be hard for him to understand how it covered the small gap when Ian didn't even really throw his fist out. He just bent the crook of his arm and a small circular lance launched itself from the gauntlet, extending itself according to Ian's will if needs be and smashing the victim with about 16 tonnes of force. Ian watched as the Yellow Lantern would be launched but probably self right and with a smile on his face, hovered above the ground and ignited his green aura once again. "Oh look, you were right... They did give me it for a reason, so I could do cool s**t like that." O.O.C ~

Nathaniel Grant "In Blackest day. In Brightest night! Beware your fears made into light. Let those who try to stop what's right -- burn like his power -- Sinestro's might!"
Allegiance: Sinestro Corps Status: Healthy Thoughts: Interesting. Perhaps I can get a good workout. The construct Ian was forming perplexed Nathaniel. It seemed like a weird way to construct something, but after a while of watching, he smiled. Gauntlets. Though these seemed to be much more complicated than the average light constructs. They seem to be solid, not hollow. Undaunted, Nathaniel charged forward, his chainsaw ready to tear into the kid's body. Until he realized that something was amiss. He didn't punch, there was just a simple 'click'. Followed by the sound of gas being expelled at a highly pressurized rate. To continue his attack, or to receive what he perceived as a powerful attack from the young Lantern. In the battlefield, split second decisions mean the difference between life and death. Nathaniel knew this better than this rookie Lantern did.
So he chose to halt his attack, skidding the chainsaw against the green ball. Green light, skidded against yellow light as he used the added momentum to aid in launching himself to the side, just mere fractions of a second from getting pummeled. Ian was right, he would have to right himself, but not because he was sent flying, but because of a wise decision. Then the kid retorted, and Nathaniel had to admit, that was pretty cool. Maybe the kid would prove to be a good fight after all. Nathaniel smirked as he countered, forging a different yellow construct with a cacophony of metal and parts being put together, as if it was coming straight off an assembly line. It formed into the shape of a Shoulder-Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon, or a SMAW. Basically, a man portable rocket launcher. He took aim at Ian and fire, the barrel glowing for a brief moment before letting loose with a large ball of yellow light. Regardless of whether it hit or missed, it would explode and explode hard. A weapon like this in an Army was meant to bust down bunker, fortifications, and Battle Tanks.

Allies: None. Enemies: Sinestro Guy. Saving: Self.
Ian watched as the Sinestro Corps member narrowly dodged his blow; it was pretty inconsiderate of him when this whole affair was pretty much his fault. Ian was just on a routine check and some guy just smashed him down into the ground, wearing a yellow ring and trash talking him for no real reason. But then again, he was also part of the Sinestro Corps and when did they ever seem to be reasonable. They believed that fear was equal to power. The only problem though was that not everyone was afraid and when they weren't afraid: It was death. That was it. They were nothing but murderers and fear mongers and tyrants. It made Ian's blood boil as he shook off the gauntlet, letting it disappear off into the ether and watching the Yellow Soldier as he constructed his cannon. That's some serious hardware but... Ian's eyes widened with intrigue He seems to know what one of those is... A soldier or an avid COD player?
Watching the man aim and just as he was about to pull the trigger; Ian punched the air, causing his ring to glow and constructing in front of the bazookas mouth, a large box, that would be capable of containing the blast in it by itself if Ian wished. Yet, that actually wasn't his plan. With the lid unable to close thanks to bazooka itself, the yellow blast of energy would simply hit the bottom of the box and backfire towards the soldier holding the bazooka like when the barrel of a gun is clogged. Initially, Ian had hoped to somehow use the box to store the energy like a battery and use the energy in his own constructs using a vast series of pipes and circuits. However, making the mistake of putting the box a little too close had amounted to surprisingly good results.
The Green Lantern could only smile to himself as he watched the Sinestro Corps member be rocked by his own blast. "Ha ha! Looks like this scrawny kid is kicking your a** Mr. Yellow Man!" O.O.C ~

Nathaniel Grant "In Blackest day. In Brightest night! Beware your fears made into light. Let those who try to stop what's right -- burn like his power -- Sinestro's might!"
Allegiance: Sinestro Corps Status: Healthy Thoughts: What in the world?Well that was unexpected. The barrel of the bazooka was snapped shut by what Nathaniel guessed was a contraption you would see on a movie. Was all of this kid's constructs going to be based on games and movies? Regardless, once again he had to think fast and the split second decision was to let go of the SMAW and quickly throw up a force field to absorb the impact of the explosion. The resulting explosion threw up a lot of smoke, and while the cloud was up, Nathaniel used it as cover, punching the air above him to construct something new. But it was not in front of him, it was above.
Another symphony of metal and parts would coalesce into the form of a full scale model Boeing AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopter. The model was in fact so realistic, the rotor blades on the top and tail even spun, making the whirling noise that signified that it was in flight. With the construct in place, Nathaniel directed it to attack, which it did, letting loose with it's many, many armaments, including a 30-mm Chain Gun, a salvo of Hellfire Anti-Tank missiles, and Hydra unguided rockets, blanketing his opponent with a withering barrage of relentless fire.
As the helicopter attacked, Nathaniel used it's distraction to re position himself, constructing another object, this one being a large ball and chain that he whirled over his head. After a few moments, he let the chain go, sending the solid yellow ball straight towards Ian's stomach, hoping for a clean hit. In mid flight though, his ring glowed, and the ball expanded to a massive size, about the size of a wrecking ball. Just like the real thing, if this thing hits, it's going to hit hard.
All the while, Nathaniel was as silent as the grave. While he's opponent was taunting him, he kept a cool head and just kept fighting. Taunting your opponent was usually a bad idea. Sometimes you can cause them to let their guard down, but more often than not, you're the one who ends up exposing yourself to an attack by him.

Company: Lanterns?! Thoughts:Should I help? Meh... Location: Suicide Slums
[Nightingale][Sonokinesis][Legacy Initiative] Nightingale peeked around the corner to see a fight ensuing. Flashes of green and yellow hues danced before her eyes. The two energies were locked in combat with one another, each wanting to be the dominant force by taking on various shapes. Her cerulean orbs eyed the wielders of the light based powers. 'Lanterns?!' Taliana wondered what a protector of Oa was doing fighting a member of the Sinestro Corp here on earth. Looking closer, Taliana almost shouted in excitement. The Green Lantern looked more human than the more alien lanterns she had see while with the league. Maybe the rumours of a new Earth Lantern were true?! Taliana smiled to herself as she watched the battle. Instead of helping right away, the siren decided it was best to decipher just how strong this new hero was.

Allies: None, soon though?? Enemies: Sinestro Corps Soldier. Yep. Definitely some sort of soldier. Saving: Self or at least trying to.
Ian smiled to himself as the Yellow Lantern had to ditch the bazooka and quickly throw up a force field in order to protect himself from Ian's ingenuity; Killawog had always said that out of all the Earth's Lanterns, Ian had a strange way of doing things. Which was especially a well earned piece of back-handed praise considering Kyle Rayner was an artist and his need for expression in his constructs had always seemed to result in some odd but fascinating things and then there was Guy Gardener, now that guy was a different kettle of fish all together. Guy would just spark all over the place, like he was bursting at the seams with green, whereas Ian, Ian just seemed to like doing stuff no one really expected. He was original. But that's what you got being a gamer, you were exposed to some pretty weird but deadly weaponry and when you want to design that sort of thing for a living; your brain begins to make all sorts of weird and wonderful connections.
Waiting for the smoke to clear, Ian turned around and kissed his ring, ready to walk away from it all; in his mind, there was no way that the Yellow Lantern could get away from that unscathed. Even with the force field the Green Lantern had seen him put up, he would have been knocked about a little bit and would probably have to make a hasty exit. The sound of rotary blades cutting through the air, painted a different picture in Ian's mind and as the young man turned to see the Apache Helicopter about to unleash all manners of hell on him; Ian's will began to falter.
T-t-t-there's no way! The Lantern was stumped at what to say as the helicopter emerged from the smog and began peppering him with machine gun fire. Crap! Strengthening the aura around him, Ian flew into the bullets trying to take them and absorb them so that the surrounding area wasn't damaged. His opponent may not have cared but Ian did. People were looking out of their windows surveying the battle and Ian couldn't let any harm come to them; that's what the Justice League had done, in all their battles, in all their fights they tried as hard as they could to minimize the collateral damage and Ian needed to do the same. But he wasn't about to stand up to missles, taking the machine gun fire was one thing, it was easy to strengthen the green aura that surrounded his body enough to resist them but he didn't know whether it would have the force to withstand a missile. It could probably save him from being incinerated but even them, paralysis or bloody pulp wasn't quit in this week's edition of Superhero Fashion Weeky.
It was at this time, in the back of Ian's mind, thoughts of the bed he was so desperate to clamber into seemed to materialize from nowhere; the rockets were let loose and punching the air with his glowing ring; Ian created a massive wall that he hoped to whatever God there may be would be able to take the damage without allowing much damage to come to the slums. However, as the first missile hit, the wall did not stand firm but began to crumple a bit like paper. The folds originated from the points of impact across its surface eventually causing whatever it was Ian had constructed into a ball around all of the explosives and containing the ensuing blasts within it. What Ian had done, even to his surprise, was having thought about his bed created a construct that he thought was synonymous with safety and comfort: A blanket and this blanket now had a tonne of weaponry about to go off within it. It works I suppose, Ian thought to himself, focusing hard to keep the woven barrier up as explosion after explosion went off inside causing a huge chain reaction that could probably wipe out the block. Sure glad I'm not snuggled up in there though.
Sweating, Green Lantern gritted his teeth as he shrunk the huge throw over into eventual nothingness averting disaster for the rest of Suicide Slums citizens but unable to see the incoming attack the Yellow Lantern was actually preparing for. The Apache was a distraction. The wrecking ball was the true move and unable to react fast enough, Ian tried his best to raise his ring but was struck by the ball and taken along with it as it traveled through the air and smashed him into the entrance way of an apartment building. Will fading fast, Ian's Green Lantern costume seemed to fray in certain areas, rip in the legs and each of these battle damages seemed to glow with the same tinge of yellow as the Yellow Lantern he was fighting.
Ian Wickes was afraid.
He was aching and he was losing but covering his hand in the Green of Will Power punched the wrecking ball off of him with what looked like relative ease but stumbled out of the now ruined doorway; broken and feel onto all fours, trying to regain the wind that had been knocked out of him and straighten his now groggy sight. S...s**t... Can't... Lose... Now... Ugh..." O.O.C ~

Nathaniel Grant "In Blackest day. In Brightest night! Beware your fears made into light. Let those who try to stop what's right -- burn like his power -- Sinestro's might!"
Allegiance: Sinestro Corps Status: Healthy Thoughts: I see fear in him. His will is fading. Goooooood.Direct hit. When he saw the yellow ball slam into the young Green Lantern, who had heroically caught the many missiles and rockets his helicopter construct fired at him, Nathaniel was pleased. Maliciously pleased. The collateral damage was a bonus, as it spooked any civilians that were brave or stupid enough to stay and watch. Some may have been crushed under the rubble, but the lucky ones began to run. Fear. They were stinking of it. Exactly as he wanted it. He wanted people to be afraid of him, afraid of the power he wields on his left hand. Afraid for their worthless lives.
Even the Green Lantern, who had just crawled out of the rubble, was not immune to fear. And it showed. His outift was shredded, and he can even see streaks of yellow on the fabric. All Lantern Corps outfits were a product of a certain emotion on the emotional color spectrum, and thus constructs in and of themselves. And if your clothes begin to fall apart, it would signify the same thing as if your opponent broke through a construct wall with a kick: your mastery of that emotion is not strong enough. And Ian Wickes was afraid, thus he was beginning to weaken. While Nathaniel, who even now was spreading fear around the Slums, was getting stronger. The yellow lines on his outfit, the Sinestro Corps emblem, and his power ring now seemed to burn like fire.
Slowly, Nathaniel floated towards Ian, and roughly hoisted him up so that he was staring straight at the helmeted head of Nathaniel. What looked like eight barbed spiderlike legs began to sprout from his back, quivering with ecstasy as they stabbed towards and into Ian's body, "You reek of fear, Ian Wickes," he said in a foreboding, deep voice. Then a horrifying scream echoed around the two as a short little thing that looked like an alien tongue sprouted from the place that his mouth would be on his helmet. It looked like something straight from a horror movie, complete with sharp little teeth....and a small cannon. The tongue charged up for a little bit before the spider legs on his back disappeared. Finally, the tongue released a powerful blast of yellow energy, possibly disintegrating the apartment building behind him and in general causing even more havoc around him.
And throughout this, he didn't let Ian go. He wanted to see the Green Lantern suffer in his helplessness. To break his will so thoroughly, he will regret the day the green ring crashed into his car and made him a part of the Lantern Corps.

Company: Lanterns Thoughts: Whose the Damsel now, hm?! Location: Suicide Slums
[Nightingale][Sonokinesis][Legacy Initiative] The constructs being formed by the Green Lantern. He was using unique shapes that she wasn't expecting. The kid was imaginative that was for sure. Such refined control was impressive, which meant he was no pushover. Taliana regretted her words once she saw the Yellow Lantern over power the new lantern. 'Me and my big mouth...I suppose I should help him now, hm?!' Nightingale sighed as she stepped out from behind the brick building. The young lantern wasn't putting up the fight she had expected. Weren't the Green Lanterns supposed to be the strongest? Especially the protector of earth. Maybe that was just her misguided perception due to her having seen Guy Gardner in battle. Never the less, all heroes needed help at some point. Nightingale's eyes widened as the Yellow Lantern's alien tongue whipped out. "What the hell...." Nightingale said under her breath just as the Yellow Lantern obliterated an entire building with a blast from his disgusting mouth. Taliana's fist clenched together as she heard the final moments of a family inside. What kind of monster could be so cold hearted?! This is why she showed no mercy. Villains never, ever deserved it. This alien wanted a challenge, and now he had one. Taliana confidently stood her ground as she shouted at the monstrous man.
"Nice trick. Let me show you some of mine!" Taliana opened her mouth and released a booming sonic lance that locked in on the Yellow lantern. The vibrations coming off the sonic blast shattered the glass windows as it passed and pressed a ripped a vertical crater into the ground.

Allies: A girl!? Enemies: Sinestro Corps Soldier Saving: Self and Surrounding
Ian felt the Yellow Lantern grab onto the collar of his tattered Lantern uniform and felt himself leave the ground with an almighty pull. Ian's arms felt somewhat like lead, heavy and immovable by any sort of thought he made; he wanted to move, he knew he needed to move but try as he might his body just refused and he was left dangling and staring into the opaque black helmet before him. Even his own reflection seemed to look away, appalled and deeming the young Lantern as pathetic almost. Blood trickled from his nose, he could feel the warmth of it on his tongue and the taste of iron quickly building up in his mouth. His ring couldn't keep up with the damage even without his will faltering. So, watching, Ian heard the yellow Lantern gloat. But he wasn't wrong, Ian was afraid. He was afraid of failing the people clutching onto their loved one's in the glass of windows, afraid that the ring had chosen wrong, afraid that all these people and he would die at the hands of this one man just because Ian wasn't good enough. It was like all of his worse nightmares about being a Lantern were true, his opinion of himself finally proven to be fact and the stakes were too high...
It felt like he was already dead. He could see his gravestone now: "Here Lies Ian Wickes, he tried." No! Screamed the Green Lantern in his head No! Unable to let it end this way, willing to go down fight; Ian tried his best to get his hand to move. His ring glimmered in excitement as it recognized the tenacity of its owner like an old friend: It was like Hal all over again, refusing to give up, even though he didn't quite believe and the ring almost purred with joy at the prospect of Ian Wickes finally beginning to tap into his potential and show the world why this ring; the ring of Hal Jordan, the Greatest Green Lantern, chose him as its wielder.
Finally getting a response from his hand as he felt the creepy spider's legs burrow into his skin Ian made a construct in order to bind them in place and keep him and the Sinestro Corps Chimera together long enough for Ian to try and do something about the immense amounts of energy building up on the dude's weird tongue. The constructs looked somewhat like plugs but closed so tight around the legs that they could not move too deep into the skin to majorly wound Ian but also could not be retracted; it hurt but heroes had to put their body on the line now and then. His ring flamed amazement, energy compacting itself along its emerald surface as Ian, with all his might and all the will he could muster lashed out with on final punch; the ring connected with the energy and in that moment; Ian burned brightest. For now, he was really beginning to push his will to the limit, for now, he was the epitome of the Green Lantern Corps.
I WILL not fall here. I WILL live up you Hal Jordan's Legacy as the Green Lantern of Sector 2814! I WILL prove everyone wrong! I WILL show this guy and I WILL SEE HIS FACE!
"IF YOU'RE HUNGRY FOR FEAR BIG GUY THAN EAT THIS!" Pushing on the tongue with all his might, Ian eventually burst through it and released the energy built up inside it prematurely, his will had been strong enough to break the construct but both his ring and the energy from the Sinestro Corps attack flared out of control, dematerialising both of their constructs and damaging some of the structure around them but the one amazing thing it did do was leave both Lanterns surrounded in an electric field of their opposing colour wrapped around them and pricking them with its harmful touch before dissipating forcing the two meters away from each other and leaving the two of them looking worse for ware.
Ian's uniform was almost completely gone, his Corps insiginia and mask some of the only pieces remaining save for one sleeve and shoe. He gasped for air as he tried to remain standing, remain strong but upon. Whatever happened next was Ian's last move and watching the girl leap out from nowhere, Ian tried to move but in doing so almost fell over from exhaustion... F- No! O.O.C ~
