Ace o Clubs
The Ace O'Clubs was a public drinking establishment located in the Hob's Bay neighborhood of Metropolis. It was owned and operated by Bibbo Bibbowski, who purported himself to be Superman's biggest fan. In fact, Bibbo maintained a zero-tolerance attitude against any patron who dared to bad-mouth the Man of Steel. It was not uncommon for Bibbo to personally toss such an individual out on their ear. Like most bars and pubs, the Ace O'Clubs was no stranger to violence. To keep the peace, Bibbo always had his trusty double-barrel shotgun at the ready should things ever get too wild. The Ace O'Clubs was occasionally victimized by various city-wide threats, all of which involved Superman in some way.

Company: Audience Thoughts: Never a dull night... Location: Ace o Clubs
[Taliana Lance][Sonokinesis][Legacy Initiative] The brisk night air whipped around Taliana's bare legs as she walked towards the Ace o clubs bar. She was currently sporting a ice blue mini-dress, black heels, and some other black colored accessories. Tonight was her night to sing at one of the most popular bars in Metropolis. She didn't sing there every day but when she was able to grace Bibbo with her presence. He enjoyed the money she brought in since most men have no problem listening to a beautiful girl. It was the closest thing to performing she has ever done, in terms of making a living off of it. She was thrilled to sing for the lovely people with her rendition of a Billy Joel classic. Taliana hummed the tune gently to herself as she entered the bar. She was immediately greeted with the usual stares, and finally Bibbo greeted her. 'How are ya darling? The Stage is ready when you are.' Taliana simply laughed before moving with him to the stage. "I'm well, and ready to sing for you of course." She teased. Taliana moved up the stairs to the stage and stood at the mic that was setup for her.
An agile riff escaped her lips as the band kicked in with the music. "I'm in a New York State of Mind." Her sultry vocal moved like warm honey through the verses, giving off a innocent sensuality. Her hands caressed the air as she came to the closing line of the song. A smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she was met with applause. Her cerulean orbs scanned the audience with glowing excitement. "Thank you." The blonde took a bow before stepping off stage. Now it was time for a drink, her favorite part about performing here was the free drinks afterwards. It was way better than the free coffee she got at the local coffee shops. Taliana sat in one of the open stools in front of the bartender, and gave him mischievous smile.
"I'll take a cosmo darling, no ice." She purred. The siren crossed her left leg over her right as she awaited her drink. Tonight was going somewhat smoothly here at the bar. Usually a fight would have broken out by now. 'Something is in the air tonight I suppose...' Taliana thought to herself. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something extraordinary was about to take place. Other than her outstanding performance of course.

Company: Eris Thoughts: Canary got your tongue? Location: Ace o Clubs
[Taliana Lance][Sonokinesis][Legacy Initiative] Taliana resisted the urge to pounce on the woman who had sat next to her. Like she was in any position to make age jokes when she had a niece. Being the sophisticated young woman she was, she wouldn't stoop to her level. Taliana cut her cerulean blue orbs over to the girl to acknowledge her presence. "I'm the exception to that rule." Taliana nodded to the mic on stage that she had just sang at. "And you seem like your intelligent enough to know when to watch your tongue, right?" Taliana teased. The bartender set her drink in front of her, commenting on her performance as he did. "Glad you enjoyed it." She coyed before turning her attention back on the woman who was changing the tone of their meeting to a more pleasant one. Taliana appreciated the shift from catty girl talk to a more polite one. She would hate to have go off in her place of business. Looking at the woman once more struck Taliana with realization. 'Eris....Strife?' What was a woman of her stature doing in this bar? She seemed more like upscale kind of gal. Taliana looked at her dress feeling slightly happy that the woman liked it.
"It's actually a style from Giorgio Armani that was inspired by your designs." Taliana stated in an almost complimentary fashion. She sipped her drink awaiting the response from Eris. Taliana had her guard up though; she was prepared for Eris to make a smart a** remark.

ℰ ris❦Strife» The ℬad Åpple Eris simply chuckled at the girl's words. Not feeling intimidated at all by the young girl's attempts to silence her. Eris was below taunting and intimidation, it was considered childish to her and she found it interesting how the girl felt threatened by a mere comment made on Eris' behalf. Eris was all in all, an intriguing young woman with a high intellect and known to come on strong, never afraid to share what was on her mind and most, women especially, often mistook that as a sign of teasing. Upon receiving her drink, Eris' chuckles subsided as she reached for her glass. "Easy tiger, I don't bite, well, not tonight anyway. Save that for the paparazzi. It's a lovely night. No need to be tense, stress leads to wrinkles and hair loss. Secret to beauty and youth love." she raised her glass and took a sip. Her grey eyes seemed to glow as she took a drink, enjoying the taste of the cold and sweet mixture of the alcohol and peach. "Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the luckiest of them all...?"

With: Taliana Lance and Eris Strife
Brushing his way past the line, Ian made his way towards the club bouncers and nodded, they nodded back obviously recognising him as an employee and allowing him to enter. But they knew as well as he did that he was late and Bibbo wasn’t usually very happy when his staff were late, especially on nights where Taliana Lance was making an appearance. The crowds she brought with her were almost overwhelming and so, as he walked into the bar, he sighed at the three line deep wave of people trying to push their way to the bar and get a drink. Ian knew that he could possibly get away with being late if he got straight to work without meeting face to face with Bibbo anytime soon, and if it didn’t save him his job at least it delayed his unemployment till the end of the shift. That was always a plus.
Scooting through the crowd, listening to Taliana sing, the young student smiled and laughed to himself as he watched more and more people get more and more drunk and simply lose themselves in the girl’s beautiful voice. It was hard not to both on and off shift Ian had watched Taliana perform and been wowed by the girl’s talent and presence. Others had said that he had a crush on her, which many people did but Ian knew otherwise, he just liked her singing. It was nice. You couldn’t really deny that and this crowd so far, was agreeing with him. Everything seemed as though it was going to be alright.
Until Ian clocked Bibbo standing at the entrance to the small backroom the staff used to store their coats and bags. He looked towards Ian, his hulking frame dwarfing Ian’s petite skinny body and taking off his jacket, Ian let off a sigh. All he could do was apologize and Bibbo, trying to match his thuggish exterior growled slightly as he reprimanded the youngster. “C’mon kid, you gunna get it together or what you’re almost half an hour late? What you been doing flower shopping?” Ian shrugged his shoulders and stared nervously at the floor as he felt his employer grill him over and over about where he’d been. Well, I saved an orphanage from burning down… Ian thought to himself, hardly one to go about causing trouble What did you do today Bibbo? Stalk the new Superman? Bibbo tapped the boy on the arm as he sent him on his way. “Not again Kid,” he assured him “Otherwise, you’ll be looking for another job!”
Ian made his way into the store room and unbuttoned the top of his shirt, allowing the chain that his Green Lantern Corps ring was on to fall out and glow ominously in the half light. He could hear that Taliana’s set was coming to an end, or at least a halfway point but Ian still felt it was necessary to give the ring a quick once over and think about all the trouble it was beginning to get him into. I wish I could tell someone, he thought to himself, stroking the ring awkwardly But who’s going to believe me? Or worse how much faith are people going to lose if I turn around and say… I’M THE GREEN LANTERN! I mean, it’s me…
He hung up his jacket, did up his top buttons and quickly put on the Ace o’ Spades uniform tie that was in his jacket pocket. It was time to work and once he was at the bar Taliana Lance sat waiting for a drink, her set over and waiting for a drink. “One Cosmoploitan, coming right up Miss Lance." Ian smiled as he went to town on the top shelf, quickly measuring out the right measures of Vodka and Cointreau before splashing in the lime juice, cranberry. She’d asked without ice but even so, he would’ve added that before starting so that the ice slightly melted and then less liquid could get into the glass. It was an old bar trick but it proved if anything that Miss Lance was not all beauty and no brains. She’d got her money’s worth and with a smile; Ian served it up to her. “I’m guessing Bibbo has you on a tab?” he asked her, “If so, you can settle up when we close or your set’s over. Your call.” Waiting for the young lady’s reply, Ian was soon taken in by the crowd gawping at Eris Strife and he like the rest could only seem to think. What’s she doing here?
Watching her sit down next to Taliana, Ian gulped and tried his hardest to hide the sweat running down his face at the thought of serving such a controversial figure. She was probably watching his every move, scrutinizing the poor boy as he tried his best to fulfil her order in as little time as possible and all the while realising that Ian was already quite self-conscious, would take that and use it against him. That’s what the Fashion Industry was like. That was what money was like and even though Ian and his Dad had pretty much rebuilt Coast City, Ian still was nowhere near Eris’ level and he probably never would be. “There you are Miss Strife,” Ian stammered politely placing the drink in front of her and going to move away. However, Bibbo nodded towards him as if he’d forgotten something and groaning to himself silently, Ian made his way back towards Eris…
Stupid. Stupid.
“That’ll be about $20.” Ian said, masking his fear as best he could…
Although, unbeknownst to the bartender, a small green pulse could be seen through the white of his shirt, almost as if reacting to Eris.

Company: Eris Strife and Ian Wickes Thoughts:There's my favorite bartender! Location: Ace o Clubs
[Taliana Lance][Sonokinesis][Legacy Initiative] A smirk crossed her lips as Eris spoke. "My apologies. As you can see, my fangs are always ready." She was referring to her biting comment. Taliana had a bad habit of ripping into people unnecessarily when she felt threatened. But that attitude has saved her butt multiple occasions, so it was a strong point for her. Her attention fell back on her favorite bartender who had so kindly made her order to perfection. "Bibbo has me on the tab, but I'm sure he pulls that money out of my check." Taliana joked. Still she couldn't complain with Bibbo being as hospitable as he was, plus he was paying her quite nicely. Taliana opened her small black handbag and pulled out fifteen dollars. "For you." She commented to Ian with a playful wink. She was a sucker for good customer service. It was then that she noticed a green light near his chest. "Phone call?" She nodded to the light with furrowed brows. Her ears perked up as Bibbo began calling her back to the stage. Her final performance of the night, then she'd be wrapping things up to head back to her dorm. "It was a pleasure to meet you Eris. Enjoy the rest of your night." Taliana commented politely before heading to the stage.
The musician positioned herself comfortably on the bench in front of the piano and laid her hands on the keys. She began playing a dissonant melody on the keyboard that would lead into her rendition of 'My Funny Valentine'. "Your my favorite work of art." Her tone resonated with the lyrics giving off the air of vulnerability and control in her vocals. Her warm alto sound added a new flavor to the jazz standard and her noticeable melodic changes made the song seem brand new. Her eyes shut gently as she lost herself in the music. This is what she loved; Performing.

ℰ ris❦Strife» The ℬad Åpple Eris turned her attention to the bartender as Taliana took her leave. Noticing a faint green light that appeared close around the midsection area, Eris tucked a strand of her silk like hair as she attempted to bring the light to Ian's attention as polite as possible without embarrassing him. He seemed polite and sweet at that. "I believe I'll be paying once I'm through with my drinks. Thank you and um, not to be rude or anything my good sir, but you seem to be giving off a light down there." She pointed with her pinky as she raised her glass again to drink. Her eyes locking onto Ian's. "I hope that's your phone going off." she said, flashing him a witty smile before taking a sip of her drink and glancing at the clock. Her associate was late and she wasn't one who enjoyed being kept waiting. "Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the luckiest of them all...?"

With: Taliana Lance & Eris Strife Ian smiled goofily towards Taliana as she talked, nodding in agreement. It sounded like something Bibbo would do to be honest, he was a nice guy, especially with all he’d done to try and help Suicide Slum and his compulsion to do the right thing but his habit of being careful with money never really seemed to fade. He’d won the lottery for God’s Sake and he was still a bit of a stickler when it came to what he was owed; Ian even remembered once when he had been ill during his second year and poured himself a cola in order to help. Bibbo pretty much charged him from his weekly pay cheque on the spot. Ian’s mind side-tracked though, as Taliana playfully winked at him and handed him $15 from her own purse; it was somewhat disarming to get a tip, let alone a wink with it. Ian could only blush and with a hesitant hand, take the money. “Um, thanks Miss Lance, there was really no need for that much though…” Ian stuttered but a tip was a tip, especially a tip over $10 because he didn’t have to tip back to the house. It was about something he’d done if he got this much and a flicker of confidence ignited in his chest. Almost as if characterised by the glowing green pulse of the necklace hung ring under his shirt.
He didn’t quite catch Taliana’s comment as Miss Strife said something about not paying until she was done for the night and unfortunately after looking towards Bibbo, shrugging and the owner simply urging him to continue on as normal with standard procedure in case of such an event; Ian had to continue to talk to Miss Strife, whom for some reason, sent quite the chilling sensation down his spine. “If that’s the case Miss Strife,” Ian began clearing his throat and leaning on the bar cockily to throw Eris off the fact that she had all the power in this exchange really “If that’s the case and you’ve arranged that with Mr. Bobbowski, we need to take a debit or credit card from you as a guarantee, will that be a problem?” A few of the customers at the bar were impressed, some even admitted that they wouldn’t have had the stones to question a women as powerful as Strife but as Eris pointed out the glowing ring and Ian caught a glimpse of it as he looked down; the wind was taken from his sails and his mind went towards the wing, now pulsing, which meant only one thing: immediate danger.
s**t.
Cleverly positioning his hand on his chest, over the glow, Ian tried to regain a foothold in the banter between him and Eris but having given her an inch, Ian was sure that Eris was about to take that lead up to a mile. It was a shame really. Because even though Ian wasn’t dumb, he just wasn’t very able to showcase he was smart…

ℰ ris❦Strife» The ℬad Åpple Eris had a 100 dollar bill beneath the tall glass and simply removed it from under the glass and slid it across the counter in Ian's direction. "No problem at all sweetheart. Usually I have my private account with most pubs but since this is one of of the ones I've rarely visited, I don't have one. " she replied, crossing her legs as the bottom of her dress slid back from the motion, revealing a little of her long legs as Eris perched her arm on the counter . Not too thrilled about being left stood up at a bar, especially if it regarded business . Despite who she was , no one really understood her or really took the time. They only judged by what hey saw, a cold hearted beauty. And this was what Eris disliked about society. How the ones deemed heroes were never judged but praised as gods and the misfits were watched like lab rats. She wasn't the worst person in the world and if one took the time to see beneath all the power and beauty, then they'd know who Eris Strife really was. A misguided and scarred woman lost in everlasting loneliness and pain. As time passed, Eris began to feel uneasy. With having no one around to talk to and just sitting there alone to wallow in the embarrassment and humiliation of having been stood up was becoming too much to handle. And the quiet people around with no attempt to converse with the woman in her hour of need wasn't helping either. It seemed like everyone was either afraid or too embarrassed. Letting out a bored sigh, she uncrossed her legs and stood. Wondering if she should leave. "I was really hoping for more out of my first experience here, or maybe it's just the people tonight. Ah well, no harm done it taking a peek at the place. Thank you for the drink gentleman , I bid you a good night. Perhaps we'll see each other again." She blew Ian and Bob a kiss before heading for the exit, unknowingly forgetting her small white leather bag on the counter which contained her sketches for her next line. "Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the luckiest of them all...?"

With: Eris Strife Flashing Eris an awkward half smile and keeping his hand on his chest; Ian took the credit card from her and tried to conceal his actions by pretending he was scratching an itch on his chest and then, when he thought his job was done with Eris, decided it was high time to put the credit card by the till and watch Taliana's performance.
It was always quite magical when Taliana sang and even though the music she played wasn't always to Ian's taste, it was still quite nice to listen to. She seemed vocally flawless and more than able to make her voice do gymnastic movements even professionals would be afraid to try. And the worst part is she made it seem so effortless, even though Ian wasn't really a singer (unless you counted the shower, in which case, he's an X-Factor contestant) he could tell how much Taliana put into her music, it was a lot in some respects but in others it seemed like very little at all, something Ian wished he could master in his own life. But as long as he had this ring pulsing around his neck, he was a long way off of having anything easy.
Sometimes, I wish this damn ring had never found me. thought Ian, taking control of the ring back with his mind and calming its pulsing aura to a mere green shimmer. It's brought me nothing but trouble really, I mean, it totaled my car when it first found me- Eris strife was now stood up and blowing a kiss towards Ian, saying her goodbyes and leaving. It was sad that she hadn't been as entertained as everyone else that evening but it seemed as though the tension felt by the crowd subsided a little bit and things just seemed to continue on as normal, it wasn't really the whole stop start affair Eris had caused when she'd walked in. But as Ian went to wait for his next customer, he realized her white bag was still at the bar and looked towards the till to see her credit card just laying there.
Almost as if he had the mask on, the flames of his willpower began to tickle at his throat, desperate for him to call out to Miss Strife and tell her that she had not only left her card but her bag as well; yet, even then there was a chance of failure, as Taliana's singing drowned out almost everything in the room. So, bravely; Ian grabbed the card and swiped it, picked up the bag and ran after Eris quickly only showing Bibbo what he was carrying in order to let the club's owner know what was going on. He wouldn't be long but it just seemed like something Ian had to do. Catching up with the celebrity by the doors to Metropolis' Suicide Slums, Ian called after the designer and with a confident stance, presented her with her possessions.
"Excuse me Miss Strife," spoke Ian calmly, a lot less tense than he had been at the bar "You left these at the bar, I couldn't have you forgetting them. Please, come back one day, I'll buy you a drink." Ian could hardly believe what he was doing all of a sudden but when the compulsion to the right thing came over him, The Green Lantern always seemed to try and shine its light through the cracks; it made Ian more confident, more determined just less like himself in general. But to be honest, he was beginning to like it. O.O.C ~

With: Eris Strife Ian smiled towards Eris as she took the bag and card from him. She was right not to situate herself in Suicide Slums often, even with such a nice place as the Ace o' Clubs, it was still one of the roughest areas of Metropolis; a place Ian, until recently, had tried his best to avoid all together unless he was working but now thanks to his new job... It was pretty much unavoidable. If anything was going to go wrong anywhere in Metropolis it was going to happen here in Suicide Slums.
Her compliments caused Ian to blush slightly and feeling her leaving a crisp $100 bill in his hand was quite shocking, he was glad that she could make her happy, he didn't know why but ever since he'd got the ring; the ability to bring a smile to people's faces had almost become a superpower of his. Only when it felt like he was wearing the Green Lantern mask though, like now, otherwise he'd just keep his head down and out of other people's business. But seeing Mother's smile when reunited with their children after a disaster, normal people just being happy to be alive thanks to his help, it was enough to make anyone a little happier.
But the thing that really caught Ian off guard was when Eris asked him his name. Not that he didn't want to give it to her, it was just, strange that someone of Miss Strife's status and character would ever want to know the name of a goofy bartender at some club. Maybe he'd made an impression, maybe she just wanted to know who it was she was actually thanking but in his shock, Ian simply pointed to himself and slightly red in the face with nerves stuttered: "W-w-w-who? Me? Um... Sorry, Ian Wickes." He held at his hand towards Eris and tried his best to hide his blushes before once again feeling the heat of the green ring around his neck pulsing... O.O.C ~

I'm just a woman who knows how to do her job, and you're a man who knows how to do his. Or else we wouldn't be having this conversation." she complimented with a wink and smile as she shook his hand. "It was a pleasure Mr. Wickes.I look forward to our next meeting." With that said, she planted a kiss on his cheek and gracefully pulled away from the handshake, knowing he needed space to cool off from his fit of blushing as she slowly turned away to await the long & tedious process of catching a cab. With: Eris Strife The Green Lantern Mask outline that Ian always felt in these sort of situations, the thing that led him into these strange new predicaments he found himself in, ebbed away a little as Eris' hand wrapped around his own. It was soft, cool to the touch inc omparison to his which was kind of sweaty through both nerves and the heat of working behind a bar in a full shirt and tie. "I'm sorry if I made it seem that way," Ian jested trying his hardest to keep his nerves down now that the old Ian was slowly creeping through the cracks once again and causing his mouth to run dry. "I'll make it up to you the next time I see you."
It took Ian a minute or two to process what had gone one when he felt Eris' lips brush against his cheek and by the time he had, she was already back towards her original goal of trying to call a cab. He thought he should say "thank you" or something for the pleasant sensation that the quick peck and sent coursing through his body. A half pleased with himself, yet nervous shiver. If I do that, He thought to himself She'll think I'm a bigger loser than I already am. Best to just leave it.
And so he did, turning his back on the pretty young woman and making his way back up towards the bar. O.O.C ~
