The Red Lantern Corps Headquarters

The Red Lantern Corps Headquarters finds it's home on the shore of Ysmault's Blood Ocean, where it was moved to recently by Atrocitus. Seeing the vulnerabilities among the structures of the other planets, Atrocitus relocated many of his structures in order to afford them better protection.

The Headquarters itself is made out of blood crystallized to look like red glass, providing a somewhat clear view, but only for a few inches into the other side of the wall. The Headquarters itself is divided into numerous rooms, and always has the ability to be expanded. At the moment the Headquarters has a main throne room and reception area. It is a long hall with several pillars down the center leading to the massive throne at the head of the room. The throne, with a back shaped like the Red Lantern crescent, sits atop a pedestal that has been raised a full six feet above the level of the normal floor.

The rest of the Headquarters is divided into living quarters, storage, and food production and preparation for the members of the Red Lantern Corps.

The Blood Ocean

Created by Atrocitus and used to create the Red Lantern Power Battery and the original Red Power Rings, the Blood Ocean is exactly as it sounds; an ocean of blood. It was initially created with the blood of the Five Inversions, minus Atrocitus, but as their blood was used to create the Red Lantern Power Battery, however it is now made up of the blood of hundreds, if not thousands of victims of the rage of the Red Lantern Corps, much of the blood added as a result of Atrocitus himself. Among the blood also lingers the blood of failed Red Lantern Corps members.

The Wall of Rage

Built by Atrocitus as a memorial to the massacre in Sector 666, the wall is comprised of the skulls of all murdered citizens of Sector 666. Every Solar Year on the anniversary of the massacre Atrocitus showers the wall in blood, preferably blood from the self-proclaimed 'Guardians of the Universe.' The wall rests along the Western most wall of the Red Lantern Corps Headquarters and is seen by all who enter and/or leave the headquarters.

The Red Lantern Power Battery

Towering at the head of the North shore boundary of the Blood Ocean sits the Red Lantern Power Battery. Though the Red Power Rings do not depend on the battery for power to recharge with, the battery is necessary for the creation of new Red Power Rings. Without the battery, which like all others can be rebuilt, Red Power Rings cannot be crafted easily.

All was quiet across the surface of the plant Ysmault. A dull reddish glow permeated the very air of the plant's atmosphere. It swirled with the winds that raced across the planet's skies, causing the winds to appear as visible red streaks across the very sky of Ysmault. As the sun rose upon the horizon of the planet the rays hit the red gasses of the atmosphere, giving the planet the illusion of being on fire itself. But was it really an illusion of flames and destruction across the planet? Or was the planet truly consumed by the flames of pure and utter hatred?

Cracks ran across the surface of Ysmault, yielding pure molten rock from the inner rings of the planet. Yes, the plant was very much a picture of desolation, destruction, and pure malice. And the picture fit the planet's purpose perfectly. Ysmault was now the home of the Red Lantern Corps, a legion of beings from across the universe who were consumed by pure and utter hatred; beings who used their pure hate as the motivation of the actions and source of their power.

Upon closer observation of the planet, a single ocean could be seen, however it was unlike any Earth ocean. For this ocean was made purely and completely of blood. The winds rippled the surface causing light waves to lap against the shoreline. Upon the north edge sat an enormous crimson colored lantern that shown with a dull red glow. And off to the west rose an enormous red building, a castle by any standards in the universe, even if only in size rather than structure.

Suddenly a loud crack permeated the air around the building, followed by several more creaking and cracking sounds. Then there was a moment of pure silence before suddenly a section of wall in the building suddenly exploded outwards, followed by a small body in a red uniform....the symbol of the red lantern emblazoned on his chest. From the red dust created from the hole in the wall came a figure. This figure was much larger than the body that had come through the wall, and was dressed in a uniform much the same as that upon the smaller body. However this figure bore skin that was red like blood. Behind the figures snarled lips rested dozens of razor sharp teeth, each one resembling a long white fang. Where the figure's eyes should have been rested two yellow-golden orbs, each one blazing with the heat of the sun.

The figure walked calmly from the wall, confidence boarder lining arrogance was evident in the man's stature, and pure power in the form of malice and hatred radiated from him.
"Another failure Tal'maran! Once again you were instructed to prevent any losses. Once again you were instructed to weed out the weak. Once again...you were tasked with sewing the seeds of chaos. And....once again...you...have....FAILED!!!!!!" With the last word from the larger figure's mouth came a rumbling across the area and even the ground seemingly shook. At the same time, the smaller figure, identified as Tal'maran, pushed himself into a sitting position.

"My lord. I promise you....I did all I could....Revolts started on the three planets you sent us to. I killed all of our men that failed, Lord Atrocitus. I killed every...single...one..."

The large red figure, named Atrocitus, stood still for a moment, his eyes staring down at the figure of Tal'maran. Nodding, Atrocitus beakoned Tal'maran to get up and come towards him. Slowly, the small figure stood and stumbled towards Atrocitus, a look somewhat akin to relief across his lips. And then suddenly a look of pure disbelief and agony fell across Tal'maran's face. Slowly the small man looked down, only to see the claws of Atrocitus' hand piercing his stomach, and the red glow of the being's red power ring emitting from inside of his stomach. Tal'maran looked up to meet Atrocitus' gaze, as if to ask why, but at the same instant Tal'maran seemed to know.
"Yes, Tal'maran. You killed all of the weak....except for one.....yourself. My Red Lanterns never....no....are not ALLOWED to fail. Failure means death, especially after how often you have failed me. Now you will be more....useful....as fuel for my hatred."

As the light faded from Tal'maran's eyes no blood left his wounds. In fact all of the blood seemed to drain from the figure's body to some currently unknown source. After a few moment, Atrocitus removed his hand from Tal'maran's stomach, holding a hand over Tal'maran's body as a red ring floated up into the corps' commander's hand. Turning back towards the castle-like structure, Atrocitus looked down at the ring with a smirk. There was need for a new Red Lantern, but who to chose? Who had the most hate to foster, and therefore the most potential use for Atrocitus. As the ruler of the Red Lanterns and Ysmault walked back through the hole in the wall, the shattered pieces of crystalized blood floated back into place, repairing the hole in the wall as if nothing had ever happened. Even the body of Tal'maran turned into red ash and blew away in the wind that blew across the surface of Ysmault....leaving the scene just as calm and motionless as it had been moments before.

O.O.C.

Together with our hellish hate,

We'll burn you all, that is your Fate!"

▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ Ҳ With blood and rage of crimson red, Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead Ҳ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇

Ysmault, a planet of blood red color from that that looked far away from it. A figure darted through space, a red aura trailing off his back as he came to the planet feared by many. Oliver landed on the blood covered planet of Ysmault after traveling for so long from Earth. Rage filled his body as he gripped his ring covered hand tightly.

He was sent to Earth to conquer, but he was now returning partially wounded from his battle with the Green Lantern. What was the edge the other had over him? How did he lose? The frustration boiled further.
"Atrocitus!" he yelled out from his mouth, red liquid pouring out of it as it gave a rather disturbing tone to his voice. Oliver came to Ysmault, seeking out his master, Atrocitus. The Green Lantern ruined him, again. What else could one of the Red Lantern Corps. best soldiers do other than return and find ways of improving?

The surface of Ysmault was calm, at least as far as calm on this planet went. No one ever..felt calm even near this planet. It radiated hate and anger. Just being near it was almost enough to set individuals fighting among themselves. Still, the Red Lanterns would be used to it, and Atrocitus, and those who had the privilege to undergo his special ritual, would still be able to act completely rationally despite the permeating rage that made up the atmosphere of Ysmault.

Within the Red Lantern Headquarters' main room, similar to a throne room, sat a large red figure. Behind the figure's back could be seen the symbol of the Red Lantern corps, and the room seemed to glow a dull, blood red that got brighter the closer one looked to the large figure in the room. He was clad in a normal Red Lantern uniform, and his golden-yellow eyes stared intently at several transparent red screens that just seemed to float in front of him in the throne room he sat.

The room was silent, save for the constant murmurings coming from the floating monitors. At least, until Oliver showed up in the room. Atrocitus had felt him coming long before the man had shown up. His anger was great, and even now was not at its fullest potential, but was more than enough to make the human useful to Atrocitus. Looking past the monitors to Oliver as the figure shouted Atrocitus' name, the large red figure stood, his eyes narrowing at the human.

In an instant Atrocitus stood only a few inches from Oliver's figure, his eyes staring down disapprovingly.
"Fool!! You dare barge into MY building....MY room...and shout out my name as if I beckon to your call like a dog?!?! You best rethink your approach, Oliver....lest you wear out your usefulness." Turning away from Oliver, Atrocitus walked back towards his throne, sitting down once more as the monitors hovered to his sides, all silent now. From where Oliver stood he would be able to see the screens. One showed a green lantern in a press conference setting, the other showed a green lantern in flight, and the other showed a green energy object flying through the door of a building. The last monitor was of great interest to Atrocitus, and anyone seen coming into or leaving that building would be documented and tracked.

"So, Oliver. You return having failed your last mission. Perhaps Tal'maran should remind you what happens to those who fail me....oh...that's right...he can't. He had to be reminded himself!! So tell me Oliver, prove to me. Why should I let you remain in existence? Why shouldn't I kill you here and now for your failure? And be quick about it....my rage boils over more so than usual today."

Oliver Colt

▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ Ҳ With blood and rage of crimson red, Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead Ҳ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇

Oliver landed on ground of Ysmault as a building was now in front of his face. He thought to yell out to his leader again, but he could tell Atrocitus was near. Instead, the male walked inside the place in search for him.

Greeted by the grotesque figure, the being instinctively bowed down before his leader.
["Apologies...." the male struggled to get the words out of his mouth, though it should be noted there was no trait of remorse in his tone. Oliver could not feel anything but the rage that burned within his body. Instead, his words were empty as they came.

Oliver's red eyes trailed around the castle like building, seeing Tal'maran's corpse outside of the room. The human began to chuckle sickly, the demonic dual tone voice becoming louder with each second.
"...Didn't fail....Su....cceeded" it was true his original purpose to kill a Green Lantern had failed, but the goal had remained obvious. Oliver drew the Lantern out. His eyes rested on Atrocitus's screen, seeing the exact same Green Lantern flying around. The lantern he mistook for Hal Jordan, the very one that put him in such a predicament in the first place. "I slaughtered.....maannNY!"

Oliver's knees bended as the human rose back up. He both feared and respected Atrocitus, but Oliver was certain where he had failed in one aspect, he succeeded in another. Ian was flying past the University he attended and a brief glimpse could be seen of the recent destruction of the University along with the ruins that Oliver caused when he first returned to Earth. The Green Lantern was surely broken over several aspects: The fact that he could not save so many from Oliver's insurrection, the fact that he could not save Oliver altogether. There was a lot of failure for the new Green Lantern. Failure him and his ring was certain was eating away at his heart like a plague. And now, the male was on his way with more rage towards the other Green Lantern.

"Ambushed by othersss, but succeeded. Tal'maran failed altogether." The male finally mustered enough will to get a full complete sentence out. "I failed...once...in fight...need to become stronger....still not ready...." Oliver knelt back down before Atrocitus wondering how his leader would determine his fate.

The lack of remorse in Oliver's voice meant nothing to Atrocitus. Atrocitus' voice had long lost any sense of any emotion other than anger and disdain. That sort of thing happened when you say a construction of another race, that claimed to righteous, destroy everything you once held dear. Few had experienced true loss of life, and Atrocitus had felt just that long long ago. So his voice, just as Oliver's, had every right to be void of emotion.

From where he sat, Atrocitus simply listened as Oliver attempted to speak. The effort was pathetic, and sure...Atrocitus knew why. Oliver had not been subjected to the rage control ritual, which was a slightly misleading name in itself. Nothing could control rage and hate. Nothing. However, Atrocitus knew that in a sense, Oliver was right.

Ian Wickes was in a dire mental state, and the introduction of red energy into his power battery, ring, and his mind itself now, was surely a sign of at least some success. Events had transpired in rapid succession that allowed for such measures to be taken. The Green Lantern known as Ian had been unable to save Nathaniel....to save Oliver.....to protect his precious classmates and human beings....unable to protect he friend's lover, though Atrocitus knew nothing of that fact,....but most...every day Ian was proving more and more unable to protect himself.

Even if his friends were to remove the taint of hatred from the green lantern battery that Ian carried. Even if they were able to remove the taint from his ring and thus from his body...the taint would still be in the human's mind. Rage, once sewn, never disappears. True, some learn to deal with it and come to terms with it, but it never leaves the mind of anyone it affects. And Ian had more pressing on his mind right now than anyone knew.

Looking at Oliver as the man mentioned that he needed more strength, Atrocitus shook his head.
"No, Oliver. I have fostered the hate in you...forced it to grow, even before you dawned the prestigious ring of my Red Lantern Corp. Few harbor more hatred and anger than you. This is not praise Oliver, but mere fact. In the Corp, only I have more hate than you at the moment, though there are beings with far more hatred than you in the universe. What you lack is not hatred to fuel your strength...what you lack is full control! For I have not elected to grant that to you yet. However, with Tal'maran gone and you thus filling the spot as the second most hate-born being in my Corps.....I will grant you this control, and with it will come more rational thought. But know this, Oliver Colt."

As Atrocitus almost spit out Oliver's last name, the being stood, his eyes narrowing as he looked down at Oliver and took four steps forward before stopping.
"If you anger ever falters....if your rage calms the slightest...if I ever get the hint that you are plotting against me or resisting my rule in any way....I.....Will....Destroy....You." As if to emphasize the last four words he spoke, Atrocitus raise his right hand and clenched his fist, almost pointing it at Oliver. For a moment a red light would flare in the room before subsiding. Atrocitus would drop his hand back to his side and crack his neck. "So, Oliver....Are you to be trusted with control? With actual thought? The choice is yours, but make it quickly. This will never be offered to you again."

Oliver merely remained in the same position as Atrocitus began to speak. The young male never knew what Atrocitus truly meant by being able to grasp better control over it as he was too blinded by rage at the moment to understand, but his next set of words understood very clearly."I will never betray you...."

Oliver's rage stood for one thing at the moment and that was for the Green Lantern Corps. as a whole. It was true he held a high disdain for any so called hero on Earth at the moment, but the green ran across his eyes like a red flag supposedly does to a bull or how bees are attracted to seeing the color yellow. Oliver could not stand what the so called space police stood for and every time he glanced at the screen, seeing Ian in his green suit and the other Lantern he had yet to meet, angered his tortured soul even further.

"I exist..." Oliver rose back up again, awaiting on his leader's next chain of actions or commands."To eliminate every Green Lantern in sight. I will take this control."

Looking back towards the screens, Atrocitus made a generalized motion towards one of them. The screen showing an aerial view of Queensland Park and the events there. A wicked grin spread further across Atrocitus' mouth as he watched the Green Lantern Wickes' construct punch straight through the other Lantern's personal shield. It was no surprise to Atrocitus how it had punched straight through, but the extent to which the anger was consuming Ian was a bit surprising. At this rate, Ian would be filled with more hatred than Oliver had at the moment, but that was good. It benefited the both of them either way.

Turning his gaze back to Oliver, Atrocitus had heard all he needed to hear. Whether Oliver understood or not...whether he meant what he said or not. That did not matter, not to Atrocitus.
"Very well. Do not move. Stretching out his right index finger red energy shot out towards the ground around Oliver. Quickly a symbol was drawn and Atrocitus would stand motionless, his eyes fixated on Oliver. Suddenly, blood seeped up through the ground.

The blood would collect in the ruts created around Oliver's feet. The same ruts that Atrocitus had just created with the red power. As soon as the ruts were filled the blood would begin to glow, the glowing brightening as time passed. Still, Atrocitus would stand motionless, his eyes focused entirely on Oliver. And then suddenly, the blood would shoot up around Oliver, cutting him off from the surrounding world and swirling around him like a tornado. Instead of the normal wailing of wind, however, only the wailing of the damned souls and tortured spirits that had once owned the blood would be audible. Outside of the tornado the sound was deafening, but inside it was oh so much worse.

And then, just as suddenly as it started, the blood would stop and crystallize around Oliver. If the man had survived he would shatter the blood wall around him and stand, his mind cleared somewhat of rage allowing rational thought. The rage was still there, definitely still there, however it would no longer cloud the man's ability to think logically. If he had not survived the ritual, well, that would be dealt with later, but there was no reason he should not have survived.

▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ Ҳ With blood and rage of crimson red, Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead Ҳ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇

The Red Lantern stood patiently as commanded by Atrocitus. In a matter of a few seconds, his leader began to craft a construct around him, the said construct taking the form of their Lantern's insignia and Power Battery. The red eyes hidden under the crimson stained mask had glanced out of the window for a brief second, taking in the sight of the large Battery that fueled their very power. When he glanced back, the process was already beginning to take place.

The male was swarmed by blood as it tore from the very foundation of the floor. Oliver's reflexes and mind thought to have him move out the way, but his body stood firm as the blood began to encircle him, covering over him as if he was in the eye of a hurricane or some other fierce disaster created through storms. Oliver's body began to float slightly as he was carried by the tornado, the sound of rushing wind greeting his ears. That is if it was wind at all in the first place. At first, they were faint, but eventually the young male could hear the voices; their screams. This was just a regular tornado, granted regular tornadoes were not made blood; this was instead a tornado of any Red Lantern that fell. He was hearing and seeing all of their rage as it swarmed in on him, prompting the the Red Lantern to make futile efforts with his ring.

Eventually he was stuck in place, their voices, their screams plugging his ears from anything around him. No longer could he see his leader. Instead, like he watching on various television screens, Oliver could see the lives of other Red Lanterns that died, their rage now fueling their Power Battery. For a mere instance, there was nothing but raging beasts surrounding his every thought, but then there was darkness and shortly afterwards, silence. Nothing was heard except for one raging soul; the soul of a boy becoming enraged as he was surrounded by dozens of men, a big burly man towering over the battered and bruised soul.

"Please...."the broken soul's voice cried out in pure desperation, tear welling up as he stared out into the sky hopelessly. A green light shot past the building as the man clad in a white suit, chuckled, one of his men lighting up a cigar for him.

"Oh?" the man glanced up, taking a puff from the cigarette, before looking down at the black haired male. "You were expecting him to come and save you? Heroes like that don't save dirt like you, Ollie."

The men chuckled as one of the two men that held the male down delivered another blow to the boy's blood riddled face."Let's face it, you're going to die, your family's gonna die and it's all because of some shithead like you."

The figure in the suit turned away, talking to one of the men, his words being exactly specific:"Off him"

The blood cocoon twisted and cracked as a surge of bright red energy seeped out of it. With another outburst, it cracked open, spewing the blood forward as the place was otherwise blinded by bright light and wave of energy surging through. In a mere instance, Oliver stood there, in the same position he was in before, albeit floating before landing down. His eyes stared at the screen that his leader was looking at, Ian seemingly enraged as he pulled back the other Green Lantern and speaking in a rather questionable tone towards the Blue Lantern.

"I take it all is going according to plan?"His voice still sounded demonic in tone as it seemed like two voices were talking in unison, but Oliver seemed to be in control more than he was earlier.

Of course Atrocitus had not idea of what transpired within the cocoon of blood. He heard nothing and saw nothing, though he probably could have had he really wanted to. Instead, Atrocitus knew nothing of what transpired for Oliver until the bright light began to shine through the blood cocoon, the same light which eventually shattered. The light was bright enough to cause Atrocitus to squint a bit, but otherwise the large red being did not move as Oliver could be seen again.

As Oliver spoke, already by his action obviously more in control of his mental state and thought process, Atrocitus turned to look at the screens as well. In response to Oliver's question, Atrocitus nodded and watched the screen for a moment.
"Yes. Very much as planned, save a minor detail here or there. The Green Lantern Wickes' anger is growing much faster and stronger than expected. It has already leaked into his powers, and soon his own ring will reject him. When that happens, we will pull him into our corps. That will prove to be more damaging to the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps than the death of any of them, for it will lead to the death of all of them. The only potential danger comes from that Blue Lantern. I should have ripped her head off the moment I saw her, but I elected to wait. So....I have a task for you to complete...the first one for your new....more competent mind, Oliver."

Oliver walked towards Atrocitus. Glancing at his monitors, the male caught site of Ian. Blood boiled over in his veins as he wanted nothing more than to tear him apart. There was however something different about him. Something almost like him; full of rage.

"What is it you would have me do?"

With a free mind full of rage, nothing was beneath him. Would his leader send him to deal with the other Green Lantern? What about the Blue one? For all Oliver knew, he could be going back to deal with Ian. It simply came down to what Atrocitus wanted and as a soldier in his hellish corps., he would succeed no matter what.

To say that Atrocitus was annoyed at Oliver's long pause to answer was an understatement. Perhaps a ripple in time or something of the nature cause time to pass by slowly on Ysmault, or accelerated time elsewhere, but a lot had changed since Atrocitus had made his last statements to Oliver. Turning away from the newly awakened Oliver, Atrocitus watched the monitors that tracked the known green lanterns on Earth. Within moments a wicked grin spread itself across Atrocitus' lips.

Turning back to Oliver, Atrocitus cracked his neck and began walking for the door to the Red Lantern Headquarters.
"Come, Oliver. There is always a fall after the summer, and a new leaf is about to fade from green to red.....blood...red." With that said, Atrocitus suddenly took flight outside of the large building, his path taking him directly towards Earth. Combining his Red Lantern powers with a small ritual, Atrocitus and Oliver, assuming the boy obeyed and followed, would find themselves at Earth within the time span of the current Earth day.

Oliver watched as his leader monitored the Green Lanterns. In a brief haste, Atrocitus set a course for Earth, immediately heading for the planet. Now with a clearer mind, Oliver merely floated himself, taking off shortly afterwards. He had not been there since his foggy insurrection. Would things play out differently this time? It was obvious they were heading for the Lantern who was on the verge of completing his indoctrination into their Corps.
