"Some Days, Nothing Seems To Go Right...."
Love and warm greetings in the glorious name of Jesus!
Imagine waking up and as soon as you put your feet on the floor, your stubbing your toe against the nightstand as your getting up and out of bed in the morning.
It's not broken, it just hurts something awful.
You pour your morning coffee and promptly spill it all over the breakfast table as well as your shirt and pants.
Are you with me so far?
The right rear tire on the family car is flat and the spare donut is in the carport behind some boxes of junk you forgot to take to the curb for pick-up.
About now things are really going down hill and you ask yourself,
"Why me, Lord?"
What is happening is simple. You are experiencing adversity. Praise the Lord. Comfort is on the way.
King David understood adversity and found joy in simply trusting the Lord.
Let's look at Psalm 34:19 - "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all."
Let's face it; Christians have not cornered the market on life without problems.
I have to bring up the fact that Jesus never promised us lives without problems or persecution.
As a matter of fact, Jesus warned His disciples to expect challenges, storms and downright attacks from the enemies of God.
In the Book of John 16:33 reveals Jesus words as recorded by the beloved disciple. V33 -"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
As Christians, we have a church family to pray with us and share the adversity that we deal with, we also have a church/guild family right here, that will do the same with us if we let them.
King Solomon had a reminder for the followers of God. Let's look at Proverbs 17:17 - "A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity."
We have a friend and a advocate with Christ and we have a family to pray with us within the church family here.
Finally, let us remember the comforting words from the Big Fisherman, Peter who comforts us with the following words. Look at this please from the Book of
1 Peter 4:13 (K.J.V.)- "But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
James tells us that adversity causes us to learn patience and Paul tells us that we need to rejoice in hope, to be patient in tribulation and to be constantly in prayer.
I had to remind myself of this very lesson just the other day when we had a unexpected visitor to this guild spouting hated towards God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, God's Holy Word the Holy Bible and against Christians and a fellow Christian member of this guild.
Looking back at the moment, and everyone knows that hind sight is always 20/20; that I could of handled the person and the incident with more tact and spiritual diplomacy.
For that and any ill manners of mine that was done that day when I was having a bad day. I have already asked the Lord to forgive me for being blunt and ill mannered in any way.
I shall now ask you my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus to forgive me as well; and I pray:
Lord, help us to always remember that you are our source of assurance, comfort and joy. I pray that we will always look at our challenges as learning experiences that remind us to cling to you as the author and the finisher of our faith.
Brother Aaron.
