Situated in a rather seedy part of town, Lucien and Mikora managed to find this small two bed, one bath apartment for a ridiculously low price. It features a wide open living room leading to a secure balcony, perfect for perching birds and humans. The landlord, not entirely a man with morals (or brains), often turns a blind eye to the oddities that often occur around this apartment

{enter Mikora Tamien from Kuro Shiro Manor}

Miko lighted gently on the balcony of their apartment, looking around to see if anyone was watching before shifting back into a human. She quickly rushed inside and to her room, where she quickly dumped everything she had found into her gradually growing "nest", before doing her best to get out of the dress she was in, nearly ripping it off in haste to get out of such an embarrassing thing. Slipping into her more natural clothes, which were essentially rags with tons of pockets stitched into the fabric, she breathed a sigh of relief at the release of stress she had been in. Then she went to the kitchen to get a bottle of cool water to drain, and then grabbed a second one so that she could eat half a loaf of white bread to fill her aching stomach. She frowned in sadness as she carefully made her way through each slice, meticulously chewing a bite of bread and then drenching the remainder with water so that she could swallow the mush, whereas she used to tear through everything edible with unstoppable gusto. Thankfully the very burns that prevented her from eating the way she used to also made her lose much of her appetite, but it was coming at the cost of her voice, stamina, and all of her weight. She feared one day she would waste away. She shook her head out of this train of thought, and tried to think of something else.

She looked over her and Lucien's little apartment. There wasn't much to it, a small kitchenette, a decent-sized bath, its best feature was the bedrooms and living room. The living was largish, but it only housed a dark oak table, a few plush leather seats of amazing quality, and one large couch that encompassed the entirety of one corner of the room. They did have a small TV, though it wasn't used much, as Lucien wasn't interested in such mundane news channels and petty dramas, and he laughed at the weather channels as if they were a comedy. Miko got bored of all of the movies, except for her guilty pleasures of rom-coms. But what had sold them on the living-room was in fact that there was a door leading to a balcony for Miko and Lucien to light down on when they weren't feeling like using the door. The bedrooms, well Miko didn't go into Lucien's room out of courtesy. It was one of the few places Lucien could go that nothing could follow him into, as if it was purposefully made to be wind-proof. Miko's room was always open, as Miko had a deep fear of not having an exit to run out of. And it was absolutely jam-packed full of assorted semi-precious stuff of all shapes and sizes. And I've only added to the pile tonight, though not as much as I should have gotten.

She thought of the party now, while there wasn't a lot that she understood of it, she could tell that there was a lot of power being thrown around and that wasn't something Miko like. I should probably lay low for a while, though I hope that girl will be alright. She didn't know why she gave this address to the girl, but she felt that she could trust her, as if she could somehow sense that she had had just as rough a life as Miko has had. Miko became lost in thought for quite a while, waiting on Lucien to return to the apartment so he could explain everything that happened to her.

{Enter Lucien from Kuro-Shiro Manor}

Lucien flew through the open doors of the balcony, taking that as a relieving sign that Mikora was home. Quite often she had taken to roaming the streets of Kuro Shiro at night and would return midday of the next day. While this town is relatively safer than the city of their birth, it still worried him given her predilection for getting into trouble, her past history, and current pains. He reformed slowly, taking in the room. Mikora was patiently waiting for him on the couch, several water bottles beside her and half a loaf of bread in her hands. Good, at least she's eating, she's getting so thin it's starting to worry me just as much as her throat does. Finally he formed completely and walked over to where she sat and crashed beside her. "Well that was a fun party." He stated, laughing softly. Mikora joined in, her ruined voice sounding like a death rattle. As always Lucien had to keep his face passive as he listened to it.

There was so much in that small amount of vocalization it pained him to experience it: Guilt from not having been there sooner or just having been there; rage at the men and women that did this to his sister; but most of all the sadness and loss for her old voice and self. While she was wild, rebellious, and occasionally a right pain, she was well-known in their childhood neighborhood as this vibrant child with a beautiful voice and a smile on her face, a kid that never said no to a meal no matter what it was or what time it was. Nowadays, it was like looking at an emaciated ghost of her. She rarely smiled, even at him, and gave everyone the same distrustful dead-eyed stare. She couldn't hardly speak and would barely eat. There was always shame in her eyes.

"So what happened there, I couldn't get all of it. I was somewhere else when it started." She asked and Lucien smiled at that, imagining exactly where she might have been. Once a thief, always a thief as they say. You're no different Miko, Lucien thought before indulging her "Quite a lot honestly, but at the same time, it was rather simple" Lucien started, grunting when Mikora elbowed him and given her state, that was rather painful. "Yeah, I know, politician's answer. I was just getting started honestly." Lucien smiled. Mikora was always getting to him about his rather political method of speech. He took a breath and began "Well as you know I was strong-armed into bringing Nasuada Sahara, the sand elemental of the Sahara Desert. Well apparently she absolutely hates water anything due to something in the past few millennium, and a water mage just so happened to have the misfortune to bump into her and reveal his nature. Nasuada acted like herself and attacked the poor soul, who naturally fled from the sandstorm. Now while all this was happening, some righteous ***k of a man, real towering gent, decided to crash the party, in search of dragons to enslave. Well it just so happened that the water elemental was dancing with a dragoness, and had dragged her along with him as he fled Nasuada. The two parties collided and an amazing clusterf**k occurred: Nasuada going after both men for some reason, the water elemental fending off both the man and Nasuada, and the dragoness defending herself from the man and the big man's BIG dragon. A few members of the party went out to help out the water elemental and the dragoness by trying to take out that big dragon, but the darn thing just knocked the dragoness out cold and flew off. By this time Nasuada tuckered herself out, so all that was left was the big man and the water elemental fighting, the house is going to pieces from the aftermath of that big dragon razing the area. So finally the twins Kuro and Shiro decided enough was enough and together they stopped and fixed up everything. And top of all that, they let the big man go! He inadvertently caused untold amounts of damage, and most likely was the cause of several injuries and deaths... you heard about Silver Satchez's dad did you? He was one of the casualties, whole families' probably a mess right now. All that and the man walked. Ollor and that water elemental were furious, as well as a few of those other dragons. The aftermath of this coming up is something that will be very interesting, I can say that for sure." Lucien finished, using up the rest of that breath he had taken in for a sigh. Being a wind elemental had its uses during speeches. the aftermath is most likely going to be bloody, in all honesty.

Miko listened intently to Luce's retelling of the events, picturing it all in her heard as he went along. She kept silent the entire time, nodding when necessary and sipping from her water bottle whenever she needed. When he finished, she let out a low whistle, the only sound she could make that hadn't changed since her throat was damaged "That does sound like a lot, no matter how you spin it." Miko whispered, thinking about the aftermath as well. But while she imagined Luce was anticipating it, Miko found herself fretting over it, especially over the woman she had given her address to. I hope she's okay, wherever she is. "It's getting late, you probably have a lot to do tomorrow, go to sleep." she whispered, wincing at how blunt her throat had made her sound. But Luce knew her well enough and simply agreed and got off the couch. He turned back to help her up, but she shook her head, whispering "I'll be sleep here tonight, too much on my bed, and couch is comfortable." Miko also meant to stay up and keep an eye out for the woman, but figured Luce had enough on his plate without worrying about that as well. Luce nodded and headed off to his room, turning off the lights on his way out.

Miko waited until morning began to creep up on her as she waited for the woman she had given her address to, moving only when birdsong began to chorus outside. She moved over to the balcony, content to listen to the birdsong, though she did it primarily due to an old memory. Her mother, during one of the rare moments her mother had actually been able to tuck her in to a bed, had once told her that Miko was her little nightingale, she had such a nice voice. Miko touched her throat every time a particularly pretty song went out, silently grieving the ruination of her voice. She pondered what had happened to the woman, a shred of worry creeping in at the thought that she may have gotten into trouble, but then assured herself that the woman could take care of herself better than she could.

Finally Miko got tired of waiting and decided to get moving. She picked up a little cash from the large stash she had in her room, just in case she actually wanted to buy something, as she sometimes got the perversion to do so. She shifted into a crow and flew out the balcony windows, never saying a word to Lucien. She rarely did.

{Enter Mikora}

Mikora was chuckling as she walked down the streets with her friend Leti in arm. "Honestly I have no idea which surprised the snob more, the hairball I left on his shoe, or the fact that the manager nearly clocked him upside the head trying dislodge me from his lap. Either way the soup he had tasted fine, granted it was all over the floor, but wasn't that bad, don't know what he was complaining about." Miko said, nearly giggling from the mirth. Miko had had an eventful night as a cat in a restaurant, that much was definite. She probably would have few fond memories of the night for sure, what she could remember given how tipsy she had been in the beginning of it. But they finally reached her apartment climbed to the second floor, only the Mikora remembered that every lock she had on the door came from the inside. She held up a finger to Leti to signal to wait here, before shifting into a crown and flapping around and through the balcony, deciding to land on the couch as a make-sure, before shifting and making her way back to the door to remove the ten bolts and the one heavy bar that barred the door from entry. That done she ushered Leti in with the explanation, "We don't regularly use that door, me and Luce just fly through the balcony. But I keep it nice and safe, just in case." she slid everything back in place before showing the rest of the house to Leti.

There wasn't much to it, a small kitchenette, a decent-sized bath, its best feature was the bedrooms and living room. The living was largish, but it only housed a dark oak table, a few plush leather seats of amazing quality, and one large couch that encompassed the entirety of one corner of the room. But what had sold them on the living-room was in fact that there was a door leading to a balcony for Miko and Lucien to light down on when they weren't feeling like using the door, which was always.

Tour done, she crashed down on the couch patting a spot next to her as an invitation to Leti. "So what do you think, eh? It's not much true, but it's home," Miko whispered.

[Enter Leti from her workplace.]

Leticia had a hard time breathing with how much laughing she was doing as she and Mikora talked. Usually, waitressing was exhausting and no fun at all, but with a friend like Miko around, it was beyond funny. She couldn't believe half the stunts the girl pulled! She was still giggling, her side in stitches, as she climbed up the stairwell in Miko's apartment building. The girl didn't mind having to wait until she got into the apartment; she still had to catch her breath from all the laughing. As she settled down, she watched Mikora shift into a crow and fly away, bringing back memories of the first day she met Okami. A crow had swooped in and stolen a flyer for the ball right out of her hands that day. Who knew they had already crossed paths, but never met? Leti would bring it up later on when they were sitting down. Then, the sound of several deadbolts and something else, Leticia saw Miko on the other side of the door. She grinned at her friend's explanation for the elaborate lengths to open a single door. Better safe than sorry.

Leti followed Mikora through her apartment, admiring the dark oak table at its center and eyeing the corner couch. It looked comfy enough to sleep soundly on. Though the apartment was small, it had better furnishings than any of the places Leti lived in. It was hard not to admire all the nice things Mikora had and it was not hard to imagine the girl was the source of all the nice things. For Leticia, it was difficult to believe Lucien brought much income into the household. Lost in thought, Leti almost didn't hear Miko's question because of her soft voice. Smiling, beyond happy, Leti sang out,
"I think I'm gonna like it here,~" and gave the thin girl a firm hug.

Mikora momentarily stiffened in shock of the hug, then allowed her herself to melt into it, enjoying the rare comfort and even trying her best return the favor. "And your welcome to stay as long as you want, whenever you want to come Leti" she whispered. She was ready to enjoy the embrace for a little longer but was then rudely interrupted by a breeze tickling her ear. She scowled at the general location before whispering "what do you want?" The breeze then said with clipped pacing that was standard of winds born inside towns. "Ollor sent me to find your brother and I can't find him anywhere, do you know where he is and how I can reach him?" Miko sighed and with an apologetic look at Leti, she disentangled herself and stalked over to her brother's room. She rapped on it twice before whispering as loud as she dared "Luce, Ollor wants to see you and we've got company!" Miko then returned to the living room as soon as she heard shuffling noises from inside. "He'll be out in a moment." She whispered to nothing, since she couldn't tell where the wind was at the time, before crawling back up beside Leti.

Lucien didn't want to move from his bed at all, his pounding head told him so. But the day had other plans, according to his sister. He slide out of bed and got himself dressed, before groggily opening the door and gently closing it so as to prevent winds from getting inside. His room was the only place in the entire land that winds couldn't reach him in. He protected that fact with his life. He took a water bottle from one the cubbyholes Mikora had hidden all around the house like an alcoholic and drained it before entering the living room. He immediately noticed that there was indeed company in the form of an African american woman that currently was rather close to his sister. He blinked his surprise, for Mikora never had guests around, too paranoid for that. But he quickly overcame it when he saw the questioning look on his sister's face. So he quickly replaced it with a welcoming smile. "A pleasure to meet you ma'am, I'm Lucien Tokeran, Mikora's brother. wish I could stay and chat but apparently I am needed elsewhere. Cities, what does Ollor want now?" The breeze rippled over and began to whisper in his ear everything Ollor wanted him to know about. Lucien's face seemed to fall, but there was a hungry spark in his eyes that belied his feelings on the events he was listening to. Lucien nodded to the wind shooing him out of the house, before turning to his sister. "Remember when I said there was going to be a grand clusterf**k after that ball? Well, one of those is occurring right now."

Lucien leaned on the oak table, getting one last stretch in before he had to leave. With both siblings in the room it was hard to tell they were related. Lucien was an endearingly lanky kind of tall, dark-drown haired purposefully brushed to look windblown, green-eyed, and vibrantly healthy looking, if somewhat well-worn. He had some sharp planes on his face that were softened by fat, and lent him a more noble appearance. On the other side of the room and spectrum was Mikora, who was shorter but at least proportional, had mousy brown hair that was raggedly cut, brown-eyed, with delicate and nimble fingers. She had the same sharp planes on her face, but with no fat to soften it was more bird-like than her brother.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 19, 2015 9:54 am

Leticia found herself in bliss with Mikora's company and wanted to remain that way for a little longer. Mikora was a welcoming person and she was lucky to have met her. For once in her life, she felt safe and comfortable. No angry stepfather, no social workers, no crazy ex-boyfriends, just her and Mikora.

However, the moment was short-lived, at least to Leti, because Mikora's attention was diverted somewhere else, at a thing Leti could not see. At first, she was confused, but when a voice from no where could be heard, Leticia realized it must be one of those winds Miko talked about. Fascinated, she watched as Miko sighed and looked apologetically at her—though Leti didn't mind and voiced that it couldn't be helped. She just worried for her friend's delicate voice as she called for her brother.
I wonder what Lucien looks like? she thought as Mikora whispered to the wind spirit again.

It took several minutes, but Lucien finally appeared as a cute boy with windblown hair. He was pretty enough to make Leti feel a little jealous.
But Mikora's cuter, she thought a she stood up and held out her hand. This was the polite thing to do, right? Stand up and shake hands with her host's brother? She felt like it would be rude to not do it, though with Lucien's wide array of facial expressions—from tired to annoyed to bright—Leticia couldn't get a proper read on him. He also had a bit of a potty mouth. "Is ya'll talkin' 'bout the party? With dat massive dragon and scary dude?" It was not like she expected an answer, but she worried that her friend's brother may be dragged into something violent and dangerous.

Lucien perked up as Mikora's friend, Leti, stood up and reached out her hand in greeting, speaking about the events last night. Definitely American from the greeting style and speak. Lucien gave her weary nod as he took her hand in his rather smooth ones. "The very same in fact. Apparently, one of the Twins that preside over the land decided to go and meet with him, trying to talk him out of some rather heinous charges of Enslavement." Up until this point, his voice was a picture perfect definition of charm, but the instant he mentioned Enslavement, his voice reverted to its natural predilection, outrage and a small amount of fear causing him to lose that control and let his soft Italian accent thicken to its natural state. To a wind, Enslavement was more than the shackles of humanity, it was a complete dominance of mind and soul. Lucien however was capable enough to only let his voice slip out of his control for only that brief instant, and the smile was back. "And on top of that, one of the dragons the man grabbed was involved with the Yakuza! So they're crawling all over the mountain they cornered him in. So this has become rather enjoyable way to spend the evening. Gladly enough, all I have to do is find the other Twin and inform her. Shame, I always did enjoy these sort of situations." Lucien said nonchalantly though he was in fact very excited and would probably wind up going anyways to see how things unfolded. He enjoyed watching negotiations, especially with dangerous people. In fact, he had been just as embroiled in the thieves guild that had wound up harming his sister, though his was a clear matter of objective involvement. He was the person all the guilds called when they wanted negotiations. He had excelled there and brought that ability to tread dangerous waters with him ever since then. It was where he was most at home.

Miko's eyes narrowed at her brother, worried at the growing excitement she could tell on his features. She knew he could be a difficult, if not impossible, man to read but familiarity bought her some insight. She could tell he was growing excited at the looming danger, was being drawn to it. She knew he could handle it, if anyone could it was her brother, but the word Enslavement caught on her ears. She knew how much winds feared such a thing. "That does sound like a lot, Lucien, you should be careful, just speak with the Twin and come on back. Besides, I left you present on the roof of Crossroads. It shouldn't stay out too long in the night." She added as a bribe when she saw him wave away her concern. And he expects me to listen to him when he's concerned? she thought exasperatedly.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 22, 2015 8:54 pm

Leticia thought the conversation would go in a quick, yet grave nod and a "Well, I have to be going" thing, but instead she got a whole lot more drama than she expected. Though he was being charming, Leti didn't miss the Italian accent that slipped through his lips when the topic of slavery was brought up, again. Boy, ya'll don't need ta tell me nuthin' 'bout slavery, she thought as she carefully watched him. At least point, not paying attention to the t.v. show-worthy drama was like watching the season finale of Jail Break without the season overview. It would not end well.

Besides that, Lucien got control of his emotions real quick and gave her another dazzling smile, though she preferred Mikora's over his. Something about Lucien made her feel like he was putting on a show, not a sleazy show, but he wasn't aiming to be himself. It was like he was aiming to please everyone and not be disliked. Leti didn't mind those kind of people, but she preferred those like Mikora. Also, she found Miko's company a lot safer than Lucien's and Okami's sisters after the boy described everything that was happening with the twins and the dragons and the scary dude from the ball.
"Good Lord!" she exclaimed when he finished and Miko put in her two cents. This boy better heed his sister's word, or Hell would break loose. Boys shouldn't worry their sisters.

"Is 'Kami's sista stupid or somethin'? Don't she knows what dem's yakuza smell like? I can tell a Crypt from a Rubble King just from da way they's walk. I've seen the blood of kids trapped in da crossfire of da yakuza and mafia, too, whenever I went ta Chinatown wit'my ma. Don't mess with those yakuza, Lucien. I'm tellin'ya from experience that dis ain't somethin' ya wanna mess wit'. Listen ta your sista and just speak wit'dat twin." Leti thought of her mother burying her babies years too early because of the gangs: Two boys, one ten and the other twelve. She remembered attending the funerals of her neighbors and cousins, too. By the hands of the gangs or police, violence bred like rabbits, but hurt worse than a dog's bite. "And if dat twin's 'ready found 'erself wit'er other half 'fore ya get to her, just grab da present Miko got ya and come home. It's not worth it." Leticia didn't need to read Lucien or Mikora to know that it was a bad idea to get involved in gangs of any ethnicity. The yakuza had guns, and if that one dragon Lucien talked about was part of the yakuza, then that yakuza was filled with dragons and other magical creatures, right? It meant they could hurt Lucien, who Miko said was an air elemental. She didn't know how, but it was possible because this town made it so.

Lucien's eyebrows raised at Leti's interjection, somewhat amused by her speech and impressed with her experience. Definitely american, and must have been on the wrong side of the law occasionally, if what she said has any implications. Should have known with Mikora. But he decided to heed them, or at least put their minds at rest. "All right you two, all right." He said placatingly, before sniffing "Either way, I'm going to at least have to speak with Kuro at some point. Might as well make it now. I'll be a few hours. Ta now" he said cavalierly, before slowly blurring and fading away into nothing. Afterwards a breeze smelling faintly of mountain laurel glided by Mikora and Leti, lightly stirring Mikora's ragged hair before departing.

Not one moment after he left the house another wind came up to him and informed him that Kuro was already at the mountain cave and the altercation was already fully underway. Lucien sighed heavily, knowing this meant there would be no involving himself now. So he changed direction began making his way to the Crossroads Bar, curious as to what Mikora had gotten him.

{Exit Lucien Tokeran to Crossroads}

Miko rolled her eyes as to how her brother showed off his ability to shift into a wind, before sniffing the air to see if he was still there. Often enough he lingered occasionally to mess with her, but she could tell when he was or wasn't there just by that mountain laurel smell. "Fair warning, if you ever smell mountain laurel, it means Luce is there. And if you do smell him, call him out, funniest thing ever." Miko sighed and practically wilted into the couch with a bottle of water to her lips. After gulping down a little, she turned back to Leti "Sorry about all that, don't know why he decided to tell all that to us, he never really talks about work. Must've wanted to impress you or something." She sighed.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 27, 2015 3:08 pm

Leticia crossed her arms and harrumphed, unimpressed by Lucien's little show and turning her nose away from the smell that followed the boy's disappearance. Once Mikora affirmed her brother was gone, she turned toward her friend. "Well, he failed," she said as she placed her hands on her hips. Then, she added for laughs, "And 'ere I thought dat smell was weed killer." She didn't know what mountain laurel smelled like, but now she did.

Mikora gave a dry chuckle at Leti's comment on Lucien's smell, the sound almost maraca-like. "Don't let him hear you say that, otherwise every time you walk down the street a newspaper will fly into your face. He apparently likes the smell." Mikora shook her head at the silliness of it, before looking out the windows he had most likely left by. It did worry her, the way he seemed to be excited by everything that was happening. It's like my brother lives for trouble and chaos, and all I've wanted was peace. She shook herself out of her fug and noted how dark it was getting outside. "Huh, didn't realize how late it's gotten." She looked over at Leti, remembering that they last ate around lunch. "Would you like any supper? I don't eat much but we keep plenty of food around," she whispered as she got back off the couch and took Leti's hand as she walked over to the kitchen and began to rummage through the pantry. "It's mostly pastas, kind of what happens when you grow up in Italy, but we got plenty." Miko whispered, looking over her shoulder at Leti with a small smile.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 13, 2015 6:48 pm

Leticia turned her nose at the thought of Lucien even daring to think he could do that. "Imma knock 'im in the snoze if 'e dares tries," she declared, yet obediently followed Mikora into the kitchen. Though her friend's hand was bony, it felt comfortable in hers. It took a moment, but Leti realized she was smiling, just smiling. It's been awhile, she though as she gazed over Miko's shoulders at the pantry.

With a wicked grin, Leti said to her friend:
"Leave da cookin' ta me. My nana taught me how ta cook up some mean stuffed pasta. I gotta lil' Italian in me, ya'know." She winked before pulling out some jumbo Pesto-stuffed shells from the shelf. As she shook the box, she did a little jig. "If ya can handle some ground beef, it'll go well wit dat Tuscan wine yer gettin' Lucy ta fetch." Leti motioned as a way of asking Mikora if she could look through their fridge. If they didn't have all the ingredients for her creamy pesto shells, then she'd make Lucien fetch it since he can fly everywhere he wants.

Miko gave a wide smile at the little jig as Leti danced to the shaking of the shells, though she doubted her brother was coming home anytime soon, but she had really good substitutes for that. Some very good substitutes for it. "Well if he's a no show, I got a few things that will take some of the loss," She whispered, moving over to the pantry to pull back one of the panels and reveal a decent wine rack. "As for the beef, if it's finely ground, I'll be able to handle it rather okay." She whispered as she retreated to the counter to watch Leti work.
