The Dre'ki portal
The Dre'ki are an ancient race, older than humans. Although they lived in a different star system they utilised portals to travel to other worlds, the portals were fuelled by their magic. Two main portals were left in and around America one here just outside Metropolis, the other by Atlantis. The one in Metropolis is utilised by the more land oriented variants of the Dre'ki, those who can turn into dragons and the like. The one in Atlantis is used however by the Leviathan variant. The Dre'ki if they so wish can open small portals to and fro themselves but utilising the larger ones uses much less magic due to the magical amplification spell runes incorporated into them.
The portal is hidden away in the base of a large chasm just outside of metropolis, the entrance to this particular portal was sealed off and hidden, until recently when Baliarth ruler of the Dre'ki emerged to claim earth as his own.
