xxxSigmund is the only child of Wilhelm and Odette Bauer. His father, of German descent, was an Auror in the Germany Ministry, while his mother, of French descent, was a Herbologist. He was raised for the first ten years of his life in Stuttgart, Germany and grew up a normal boy, though he shared his mother's love of Herbology. When it came time to discuss Sigmund's schooling, his mother wanted him to go to Beauxbatons, while his father insisted on Durmstrang. This was the proverbial straw on the camel's back that led to his parents' divorcing. Sigmund went to live with his mother in Strasbourg, France and enrolled in Beauxbatons.
xxx𝒮𝒸𝒽𝑜𝑜𝓁 𝒴𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓈xxx
xxxSigmund started school and was naturally sorted into Angelus, since Beauxbatons was sorted by gender, not personality. Immediately, he liked Herbology and the "softer" classes, struggling with the more magic heavy lessons. He joined the Herbology club in his first year as well.

xxxThroughout school, Sigmund wasn't the image of the popular kid, despite having lots of friends. He was a nerdy, bookish child who would rather spend time with plants than most people. His friends did adore him and he spent lots of time with them, but if you were outside his circle, you didn't exist to him.

xxxIn Sigmund's fourth year, his mother got really sick and the healers couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. She was referred to a Muggle doctor who determined that she had stomach cancer that had spread to her liver. Sigmund stayed in school at his mother's behest while she underwent treatment for the cancer.

xxxWhile his mother seemed to be getting better, Sigmund was still concerned and almost didn't return to school for his fifth year. But his mother ensured him she was fine and forced him to return to school. Midway through his fifth year, just after he returned from Christmas break, his mother passed away. It was discovered that the cancer had spread to her heart. Sigmund was heartbroken and left school for a couple weeks. His father came from Germany to help him settle his mother's estate and move him back to Germany.

xxxStarting his sixth year, his father insisted he transfer to Durmstrang to finish his schooling. Sigmund didn't want to leave everything he had though and refused. His father didn't like that and threatened to cut him off from financial assistance, but Sigmund had already started selling off potion ingredients he'd grown himself, so he was basically financially stable.

xxxWithout help from his father, Sigmund attended his final year of school and was selected as one of the two Head Students. Even that didn't make his father proud, but Sigmund didn't care. He focused on his schoolwork, head student duties, and his side business, which was growing pretty well. He attained decently good grades in the classes that mattered to him.
xxx𝒜𝒹𝓊𝓁𝓉𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxx
xxxAfter graduating, Sigmund moved out of his father's house and back to France. He wanted to become a traveling Herbologist and so that's what he did. Traveling through France, Sigmund studied lots of different plants, producing reports and articles on his studies. While near a strange wood in the south of France, Sigmund had his first meeting with a grove of wood nymphs. He'd learned much about them through his own research, but he'd never met any before. It was from them that he learned of a grove in Wales.

xxxAt the age of twenty three, Sigmund moved out of France and to the United Kingdom, living in the small village of Llangollen. This grove also managed to preserve the plants and trees around them all year long. Sigmund wanted to study the grove to see if their nymphic magic could be used to extend the lives of plants year long. Here he met a wood nymph named Peony. Unlike most other wood nymphs, she seemed curious about him and his studies.

xxxThe two worked together for almost a year, unknowingly falling in love in the process. When the grove discovered she was working with a human, they threatened to banish her. Sigmund asked her to marry him and travel with him. However, she said no, choosing the grove over him. Disheartened, he left, without knowing that he was also leaving his unborn child.

xxxSigmund was still fascinated by nymphic magic and wanted to study it more. He traveled to many places, such as Brazil, Nepal, Tibet, Italy, Russia... all seeking further leads on nymphic magic. He was searching for a possible grove hidden in the Siberian tundra when he received an owl that his father had been grievously wounded and might not survive the week. Using his portkey, he returned home to Germany to be by his father's side.

xxxHis father hadn't expected Sigmund to return home since he hadn't heard from him in almost twenty years, but he was pleasantly surprised when he did. Wilhelm told Sigmund he was proud of him and showed him the collection of his son's articles he had. Getting to see his son again seemed to be the only thing holding him to the world and a couple days later, he passed, leaving him the Bauer family house in Berlin. So that's where Sigmund settled down, putting a hold on his nymphic magic research.

xxxOnly a few short months after his father passed, there came a knock on the door. Sigmund opened it up to see none other than his long lost love, Peony, and a girl about thirteen years old. Turns out, that girl was his daughter, Clover, and they'd been banished from the Llangollen grove. Sigmund took the news pretty well and invited them to stay with him. Peony revealed she'd never forgotten about Sigmund and she still loved him, which was good because he still loved her. They married in Germany, then Sigmund set about plans to move to the UK.

xxxThey needed to live near a grove and the only other one in the UK was in the Forbidden Forest, plus living in a magical village would benefit all three of them. So Sigmund found them a house in Hogsmeade. Once they settled into the house, Clover made an impassioned plea for them to adopt her best friend, Anaís, who was living at the local orphanage. Sigmund, who had already become wrapped around his daughter's finger, agreed and they went to bring her home. Now with two beautiful children and a loving wife, Sigmund settled in to continue his nymphic research, now with the best research partner.
