The night before, Simon had been locking up the shop when he heard footsteps approaching. As he wheeled around, wand drawn, he was surprised to see his baby sister walking up to the shop with a big bag over her shoulder. She explained that her fiance left her and she decided that she didn't want to stay in America anymore, so she'd come to follow Simon to the United Kingdom. Since it was quite late at night, Simon wasn't going to turn her away and he allowed her to sleep on the couch in his small flat. The bed in the second bedroom was currently covered in books, so she couldn't sleep there. She'd accepted the couch and in the morning, Simon made breakfast for the both of them. They'd talked about her situation in the morning, and while the flat was pretty small, Simon didn't have the heart to kick out his sister. So he'd agreed to allow her to stay in his flat. Simon spent the better part of the morning clearing out the second bedroom, moving his books into the basement so that his blind girlfriend wouldn't trip over them when she came to visit.

It had been a long and sweaty morning despite the chill outside. Tzuki would be coming over in a little while to meet up for their date, so Simon hopped into the shower to get himself cleaned up. Jessica was left alone to pace the apartment over the shop. Whereas Simon could entertain himself for hours with books, Jess needed more entertainment. She dropped onto the couch and huffed a heavy sigh. The village was entirely magical and she knew that magic interfered with technology. So that meant no tv, no games, and even her cell phone didn't work. The young woman stared at the device showing no signal, then shut it down and tucked it back into her pocket. Standing up, she walked to a window and looked out at the forest in the distance. This little village was quaint and tiny, a big difference from where she'd lived before. With a huff, she stayed by the window, listening to her brother singing in the shower, wishing that she had something else to do.

Jess was bored. It had been a slow morning in the magical village and snow was starting to pile up outside. That meant that she couldn't even wander the village really. What else was there to do here? She wasn't too keen on reading, which was part of her problem. The woman was bored... at least until the door to the apartment opened and a woman walked in. Si had said he'd gotten a girlfriend in the village. Jess looked her over for a moment. Hopefully she wasn't a b***h like Si's last girlfriend. Jessica had wanted to go over to her house and curse her after what she'd done to her brother. "Hello, you must be Tzuki," Jess said, putting down her coffee mug and walking over towards the woman. In one of the letters Simon had sent to her and the family, he'd mentioned that his new girlfriend was blind, so Jess ought to make herself known. "It's nice to meet you. My name's Jess. I'm Simon's little sister. Si's in the shower right now." Stopping in front of Tzuki, Jess held out her hand for a shake. She wasn't sure if the blind woman would want to shake her hand or feel her face or whatever it was that blind people did when they met someone new.

The girl was definitely cute, Jess had to admit that, so she could see why Si liked her. She supposed that it wasn't just looks though that attracted her big brother to Tzuki; Simon wasn't shallow like that. The other woman did seem a little confused at first, but that made sense since Simon hadn't even known that Jess was coming. "Yeah... that's not Si's fault though. He didn't know I was coming. I, uh, just did it spur of the moment." She didn't need to say that she'd left her abusive fiance and traveled halfway across the world to get away from him. Tzuki's hand bumped against hers and the woman apologized, but Jess waved away her apology before remembering that she was blind and couldn't see. "Yeah, Simon mentioned it in one of his letters. It's kind of my fault too," Jess said, reaching out and taking Tzuki's offered hand for a shake.

The water of the shower turned off and a moment later, Simon stepped out with his towel wrapped around his waist. "Hey Tzutzu," he said, glancing between his girlfriend and his sister. He'd heard them talking while he was in the shower. "Sorry about the little surprise there. I'll be dressed and out in a minute." Simon then disappeared into his room. Jess looked over at her brother, then back to his girlfriend. "You've got yourself a catch there. Simon is so sweet. My poor big brother got his heart broken once before though, so you can't do that to him again, alright?" Jess was sure that Tzuki wouldn't hurt her big brother, but she still had to play the protective sister part, lest someone think she wasn't doing her due diligence. Then the girl laughed and added, "I'm sure you won't though. You seem really nice." Jess walked over to the couch and cleared away the pillow and blanket so that the two lovebirds could sit on the couch.
