Notes for playing
Primary Tension: Stability vs Independence Julian wants a family and love and to be a dutiful son, husband, and father.
Marked by homes and relationship with the Family
  • Sedona – was a time of early innocence and austere respect for the Family
  • King Street/ Bournemouth – as a period of learning and closer relationships with mom and stepfather, learning about the Family
  • Behanzin – both busy and idyllic, learning about magic and maturing, being challenged. The Family was a background element that subtly guided his life.
  • Haslemere – a period of tension in love. Everything and everyone associated with this period was someone he loved either by duty or genuine affection, but it was fraught with tension. Even work, while of immense interest, was peculiar and hard work. His relationship with the Family was on edge here as well as he was putting off his being made.
  • Winchester– of subterfuge and friendship

Character development gives him people to love who might not be right
~ Magnolia --who dies
~ Tien -- who has her own issues
~ Laelia -- who steps back to protect herself
~ Moira

-Overcoming idea of perfection in art -- resolved in school pressures. He recognizes sometimes quality and thoroughness might need to be sacrificed for feasibility, timeliness, or other projects.
-Overcome sense of duty towards others came with that^ and through mentorship.

Broken by betrayal – Julian is decidedly if quietly loyal, and assumed the best faith of others, so betrayal by someone hurts extraordinarily so.
Laurent’s cheating is kind of a betrayal of Tien, and Tien’s cheating is a betrayal of Laurent, but he never sees it as betraying him. He’s a LOT harsher on Laurent and it really damages their relationship
Laelia calling off the engagement and taking Mags and Wis is the first time he really snaps.

~Asian Family Values -- From Tien's side, this is very family values with a lot of spiraling loss of control on Tien's part. From Laurent's it's just distant like chess piece maneuvering.

Mannerisms
~ Does not argue. Agree, patience, suppress any disagreement or discomfort
~ Think longer before speaking. Action before words. He doesn't ask "What's bothering you?" He does the dishes/ cleans the house, gets them a comforting food or activity before asking "What else can I do?"

~Always consider: What is the kindest and most responsible thing I can do for this person in front of me? Who needs me now (of close ones)?

Animagus: (Registered) Can proficiently fly and act like a crow. Rather prefers this form to get away from people sometimes.
Apparation: Proficient. He can’t do very long jumps, but for familiar locales he can apparate fine.
Flying: (y1 mandatory) proficient. Brooms are meh, but being in the air was very nice. Likes it much better as a crow.
Swimming: (y1 mandatory). Proficient. Water is a mess, but being in or on the water was nice.
Divination: (y3) Julian had felt obligated to take divination since his place in the family was originally secured via a divination. After a year though, Julian knew enough to know divination was more complicated than his family pretended and he had no talent for it.

xxxPERSONALITYxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
GENTLE Julian does his best to be careful and thoughtful towards all things, living and dead, art or scrap. He loves nature and craftwork, can appreciate the most forms of organization, and can find as much beauty in a vista as a paper crane. This gentleness doesn’t make him particularly good with animals, and being around people tends to exhaust him, but it does guide his appreciation for time and sentiment— the experience of making a model house only to burn it or a rangoli only to wash it away is meaningful and memorable for both meditation and art.

LOYAL Julian has a strong sense of duty and responsibility towards most things that cross his path, and a strong sense of filial responsibility towards his mom and the Choiniere Family as a whole. Despite his misgivings about some of the Family’s methods, Julian believes in doing what he can for the Family– not because he owes the Family, but because he is one of them. Beyond the Family, he does his best for his friends and acquaintices– if it is within his power to help or give something, he will try to. Learning to say no when he does not have the time, energy, or ability is still something he feels bad about.

CONTEMPLATIVE If he’s going to do something, Julian would prefer to take his time and do things “right”, studying it thoroughly and growing with the project. He has outgrown his desire for perfectionism and has come to recognize and love the imperfections, but also acknowledges that sometimes timeliness is more important than exactness, and the minimally viable is sufficient. Yet if possible, he’d like to cherish the moments and thoughts and process of growing with projects and people.

STRUCTURED As much as possible, from notes to home, reports to garden, Julian keeps things as clean and organized as he can. He enjoys this organization and similarly enjoys structure and pattern in life, like rituals in magic, cycles of life, and patterns in conversation. Finding every slight advantage to help a conjuring or ritual is a work of genuine pride and excitement, codifying any piece of data is meaningful for the wider world, and optimizing holistically is always the goal.

COMPOSED Beyond having a calm personality, Julian seems perpetually unperturbed, never upset, dissatisfied, or disappointed. He’s quicker to smile and express agreement or support and is even enthusiastic around family and close ones, but rarely expresses negativity. Even when he clearly disapproves or dislikes something, he seems lighthearted and even tempered. Already nonconfrontational and tolerant, the more bothered he might be, the more composed Julian tries to behave. His ex-fiancee has told him it’s probably a trauma response conditioned from the Family’s poor regard to disobedience or such emotion, but he still does not feel there is need to discuss it.

♠♤HOBBIES
■ Crafting – usually papercraft designs meant to be burned in ritual offering or used, but that’s what pictures are for.
■ Walks/ Flights – enjoying nature and the outdoors– forest paths, small hikes, or just open sky– is a favorite.
■ Cooking/ cleaning – Julian genuinely enjoys the process of categorizing, or just cleaning out a space so that it’s pristine for everyone to use. A clean room with freshly baked bread is how he shows his affection and care. Papercraft is for the dead, but the living require fresh food.

LIKES
■ Thursdays – as a child, it was when arts and crafts were at the Model City in Bournesmouth, but even as he grew up, Thursdays were still part of the week but everything’s a little slower.
■ Flowers, handmade cards, paper craft
■ Biographies of people/ places.
■ Sweet, tarty, and sour flavors.
■ Monster movies – fascinating and unbelievable enough to not be a threat.

DISLIKES
■ Greed – hoarding anything is annoying. He still hoards paper scraps and old cards, but they exist to be used! He likewise dislikes the Choiniere Family hoarding of rights/ resources, but goes along with it as a matter of duty.
■ Unexpected or unplanned things. If it’s not on the itinerary, it’s irritating. If it was on the itinerary and is now cancelled, it’s usually less annoying.
■ Deadlines – a capitalist notion to encourage suboptimal work.
■ Loud music – soft tracks are fine, audiobooks are great, and nymph song is heavenly, but otherwise silence is golden– the wind through the hills, the breeze through the garden, the creaks of the floor, the bubbling of the pot are all wonderful sounds that music masks.
■ Anything that involves talking or working with people really.

STRENGTHS
■ Attention to detail
■ Calm in the face of disturbing/ disappointing news or crisis

WEAKNESSES
■ Insecure/ pushover – Julian doesn’t know what he wants besides doing art and exploring nature. He’ll usually fold to whatever designs or decisions others want over his own preferences.
■ He will not talk about things that bother him/ his own emotions in general.

DREAMS
■ Living off the grid with his wife and kids– or before that, finding someone who will choose him.
■ Building/ making something like a model city that pairs with magic to somehow be useful.

FEARS
■ He will never be independent. He won’t be able to support himself and his loved ones. He will always be in the Family’s debt, unable to properly contribute back.
■ Being unlovable. He’s afraid that he messed up his relationship with Laelia and he’ll never find someone that loves him again. And worse, he fears Wisteria will grow up feeling unloved or unwanted as well.

xxxBACKSTORYxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
♠♤EARLY CHILDHOOD Five days before Julian was born, his mother, Tien, accepted a proposal from Laurent Choiniere, who was not his birthfather. Tien’s parenting was inconsistent, and Laurent was distant and awkward as a stepfather. Instead, Julian and his older sister Magnolia were raised early on by a rotating cast of caretakers and Valenciana, their adoptive grandmother’s lover, who took care of them out of pity. Valenciana’s daughter, their aunt Tambrey, was born a month before Julian, and as a result, Julian, Magnolia, and Tambrey were very close as children. They all lived in a grand villa in Sedona, Arizona, where they were offered a luxurious if strict childhood. The Choiniere Family was initially disappointed Julian was not a metamorphmagus– after all, Magnolia was a parseltongue and Tambrey was a seer. However, their adoptive grandmother, the seer Adeline Choiniere, divined Julian would regardless be a boon to the Family; her mysterious fortune protected him from the less sympathetic family members later on. Julian remembered Sedona fondly– hikes with Adeline and Valenciana in the red rocks, Tien teaching them to fly, and endless hours reading gallery plaques or books.

In 2041, Laurent left the International Confederation of Wizards and took a new position as an apothecary coordinator on King Street of Bournesmouth in South England; half a year later, Tien, Magnolia, and Julian joined him. Tambrey was distraught at the parting, but frequent visits in the summer and winter kept their relationship close. Tien joined the Wimbourne Wasps, an English Quidditch team, and found her first real sense of home and belonging. Tien’s grandmother, Su Chau, joined to be the children’s primary caretaker, and instilled the home with the old Vietnamese shamanistic practices that had been her form of magic. She encouraged and instilled a deep sense of filial loyalty in the children, something that Tambrey did not share. Between Su and their house elf Redpoll, the children were well taken care of, and their relationship with their mom and stepfather grew not close, but closer.

Life at King Street, as he came to think of it, was brimming with activities. He and Magnolia had basic studies with Su and Governor Quinn, appointed by the family under Grandmother Adeline’s directive. Despite her only visiting every few months, they were closer to Grandmother Adeline, who taught them about the Choiniere Family’s business in magical plants and creature products, and the expectations and projects of the different divisions of the Family. The only time they really saw their parents were for meals, their mother’s games, and helping Laurent in the gardens or apothecary shop. Extracurriculars were mostly related to tutoring or the Family– magical plant and animal products, fitness and stealth design, and business diplomacy; however, on Thursday afternoons when Magnolia was at soccer, Julian got to hang out at the Bournesmouth Model City community center, exploring the arts, crafts, and home living classes with quiet interest.

In 2044, Magnolia chose to attend Behanzin School of Voodoo and Witchcraft as it was the only school that would welcome both her and Julian and was familiar to Su’s practices; there, she was pledged to Rada. Her first summer back, in Summer 2045, Su took the children for a walk and ritual in New Forest, and were sought out by the nymphs living in New Forest. The three humans were welcomed back, and began a surprisingly close friendship with the nymphs.

♠♤SCHOOL YEARS
FIRST YEAR Two years after Magnolia, Julian of course followed her footsteps to Behanzin; he pulled the 3 legged cauldron, one-lens sunglasses, and black and purple beads to be pledged to Ghedes. His mentor, Luca Celestin, was a patient and reserved boy with a crush on Magnolia. His first year, Julian mostly followed Magnolia and Luca to the Hiking, Kite-Flying, and Boating Clubs.

SECOND YEAR At Luca’s recommendation and with encouragement and interest from Tambrey, Julian started attending the Astrology club. His schedule was busy but interesting and peaceful.

This peace, though, was shattered soon after Winter break– following Laurent’s suspicious behavior that winter, Tien had discovered Laurent’s long- time affair. By February, it was decided Laurent would end his relationship with the mistress, but their young children, Kaveri and Cadieux, would be brought to King Street. By the time Magnolia and Julian met them in summer, Kaveri and Cadieux had established their resentment of Tien and hatred of Magnolia and Julian. In part due to the cheating, feeling like he had to protect his mother, and maintained by his stepsiblings bullying or ignoring, Julian’s relationship with Laurent became distant and never recovered.

THIRD YEAR Despite trouble at home, Julian was excited by a host of electives. Towards the end of the year, he made a custom kite for the Kite-Flying club, meticulously decorated and inscribed with runes. When others noticed, he was happy to make kites for others, using it as good practice but also realized he was incredibly happy to make crafts as commissions or gifts. At home though, these gifts were not as appreciated: Laurent saw no use in art, his mom was delighted but also thought it was a waste of time (“art can only ever be a hobby”) and his stepsiblings wanted nothing from him. Even Tambrey had critiques, awkward criticisms on her preferences and the quality. Only Su, Magnolia, and Laelia, his nymph friend were able to appreciate the gestures as care.

FOURTH YEAR As a fourth year, Julian was assigned as the mentor of a first year of his own. He and Jason Long became good friends over the years. Mentoring made Julian have to learn to admit that even if he had the knowledge, he simply did not have the time or energy to help. Yet Jason was always appreciative, and over the years, Julian found that it was best not to feel responsible for everyone who might want something from him; he had enough responsibility as it was with those he wanted to care for. Prioritizing them was best.

Then came the news that their grandma Su died in November 2049. Many of the nymphs of New Forest surprised them by leaving the shelter of the forest to attend her funeral. A few months later, his mother took almost a whole season of medical leave as her performance suffered, her stress, insecurity, and paranoia mounting even more following Su’s death. Julian only saw part of it– by the time he and Magnolia returned from school, she seemed much recovered and was back to practice.

FIFTH YEAR Julian and Magnolia both spent this year busy studying, although they did keep up letters to Tambrey and Laelia. After the ONS grades came out though, Julian approached Adeline for permission to drop Care of Magical Creatures, reasoning that the Family’s interests were better served through his Crafting and Rituals class, which actually dealt with the use of these materials. He also discussed the fortune that had secured his place in the family and confirmed that she and Tambrey were not true seers. Meanwhile, as soon as she was legal, Magnolia was officially made a full member of the Family and picked up a job in the Research and Production division of the business.

SIXTH YEAR Almost as soon as the school year started, news broke that his mom had been having an affair for the last two years. Although Julian only heard through letters, he understood that the drama and arguments were the new norm. At home, the atmosphere was insufferable– everyone was constantly being dragged into an argument or ignored. Even Kaveri and Cadieux weren’t as rude to them, just trying not to invoke the ire of the adults. Not a month after the winter break, in early 2052, with her performance suffering from the family drama, his mom was forced to retire slightly early. Her being at home more though, just made the issues between her and Laurent worse.

Despite his family troubles, Julian invited Laelia to his Spring dance, and to his surprise, she accepted. Outside on the beach that night, they confessed their long-building feelings and started officially dating.

SEVENTH YEAR Over the summer, Magnolia, who had been trying to mediate between their parents while taking up new responsibilities at work, suffered from a medical emergency. Even at her hospital bed the adults argued. Julian received the letter with the diagnosis less than a week back for his final year: dragon pox. She agreed to try treatment and told him to just focus on his schoolwork and hurry up and finish. Meanwhile, Tien and Laurent had officially decided to divorce, but the proceedings were just more arguments, not just between Tien and Laurent, but between their paternal grandparents, Adeline and Louis.

The only bright spots of his life were school and Laelia. Julian had been appointed the president of the Hiking Club, and despite his apprehensions, he was happy to show people the trails that he had learned and loved over the last seven years. Laelia wrote him every other day, and even suffered the discomfort of portkey to visit him at Port-au-Prince for their Fall and Spring visits. At the Spring dance, they spent a perfect night together and were intimate for the first time. Laelia informed him then that she was planning to move from New Forest to South Downs to join another glade of nymphs; he promised he would make it work between them.

The rest of his time at Behanzin was a busy but idyllic time studying, preparing, praying, and more studying. Unfortunately, the TSPSS exams were to be the easiest challenge of Summer 2053.

♠♤POST-GRADUATION: Magnolias’ Deaths Magnolia, torn between stress from her parents, pressure from the Family, vitriol even when caring for her stepsiblings, and her own failing body, was determined to at least end her life on her own terms. She managed to hold out until her 20th birthday in July. Julian alone knew her intentions but could not dissuade her. Upon realizing she was really gone, their parents, for once, stopped arguing. Their grandparents continued though, until their great-grandfather Isaac arrived and dictated the terms of two sets of divorces and the arrangement for Magnolia’s funeral.

In the end, his mom was subjected to various memory charms but given a generous sum. Julian was instructed to keep an eye on her, but spared the memory charms due to his protected status thanks to Adeline’s fortune about him. Magnolia’s occamy didn’t bond with anyone new but did follow Julian out of familiarity. Work-wise, Adeline recruited him for a project involving measuring ancestries and bloodlines, and out of loyalty to her, he accepted. His work later caught the attention of a historian who connected him with the Death Chamber of the Department of Mysteries.

In July, Laelia had discovered she was pregnant, so after the divorce was settled in Fall of 2053, Julian moved to the small town of Haslemere to be closer to her new home in South Downs. He proposed, and Laelia agreed, even leaving the forest to live with him briefly. Laelia was extraordinarily uncomfortable in the human village though, and convinced him to let her live in the forest for her pregnancy and recovery. Kaveri and Cadieux stayed with him briefly until they were fostered elsewhere. Tambrey stayed there briefly as well, checking in and being as helpful as she was jealous. On February 19th, 2054, away from the drama of the human world, Julian and Laelia welcomed twins Magnolia Dawnivy and Wisteria Ostara to the world. Mags and Wis were cared for in the forest, although Julian visited daily. The date the three would move to Haslemere kept getting pushed back though.

On Samhain 2054, Laelia put off moving again, citing Tambrey’s jealousy and his mom’s attempts at control. When pushed, she called off the engagement; Julian snapped and argued for custody of the twins. The argument escalated, including a hurtful exchange about his part in Magnolia’s suicide. They managed to stop fighting and revisited the conversation with calmer minds a week later. They agreed they didn’t hate each other, but didn’t think a marriage would work anymore; the twins would be raised in the forest until they were a little older but would be allowed to decide where to stay thereafter. Thus, Julian continued to visit as much as he could, but also focused more on his work for the Family. He finally also stopped putting off his official confirmation within the Family, affirming his loyalties before he turned 20.

When the twins were 5, Mags returned one afternoon bitten by a magical snake. Nymphic magic was able to slow the poison, but not stop it, and even a wizarding hospital wasn’t able to procure the exact antivenom. Mags suffered intensely over the next few months, turning her hair gray. In revenge, Wisteria burned the snakes , along with part of the brush and heathland. Horrified by this act of violence, Laelia sent Wis to stay with Julian. Mags’s condition worsened after being separated from her twin, but despite her protests, she could not keep them together. Her last request was for her parents to take them to the coast. As Julian and Laelia reminisced and watched from a distance, they saw Magnolia turn into a tree that immediately withered and died. Laelia rushed to her side too late, and in extraordinary grief, disavowed Wisteria entirely.

♠♤WINCHESTER Julian had been hesitating to take a position in Winchester with the Witch Watchers, but with Wisteria’s exile and the nudging of the Family, he accepted. He, his mother, and Wisteria began their new lives there in August. A couple months later at Samhain 2059, he met Moira Payne, the mysterious and beautiful fortune teller and mortician.

LYRICS to Use
I hear a bird chirping up in the sky
I’d like to be free like that, spread my wings so high
I see the river flowing, water running by
I’d like to be that river, see what I might find.
I feel the wind a-blowing, slowly changing time
I’d like to be that wind; I’d swirl and shape the sky
I smell the flowers blooming, opening for spring
I’d like to be those flowers, open to everything
I feel the seasons change: The leaves, the snow and the sun
I’d like to be those seasons, made up and undone.
I taste the living earth, the seeds that grow withing
I’d like to be that earth, a home where life begins.

ONS > TSPSS

CORE
Astronomy ~ A
Julian enjoyed quiet nights at Behanzin and just looking up at the stars, but more than that, he admired the magical effects of the stars. “Small tugs from the cosmos,” as Tambrey said, “But if you let it, it can sweep you into a current.” He greatly admired these mystical powers and studied astronomy as diligently as he could his first few years; After discovering Star Gazing in third year though, he found that served his interests better. He still paid attention in class, and wrote a passing exam with relative ease.

Charms ~ A>A
Charms was not Julian’s preferred form of magic given the more long-lasting or stable effects of rituals, but he couldn’t deny the usefulness and practicality of charms. Charms and DADA were required for most ministry jobs, and one of the few NEWTs demanded of him though, so he put in the work and gradually developed an appreciation for them.

Defense Against the Dark Arts ~ E>E
Defense against Dark or Ill-intentioned spirits made more sense with voodoo tenets, and understanding how to ward them off, how to recognize them, how to prevent their influence, and how to deal with them made more sense than Julian initially thought. Most of the Family’s work exploited legal gaps rather than used banned forms of spells, but they still encountered dark magic occasionally and learning both sides always seemed a matter of grave seriousness– what was the purpose of using powerful dark magic if you couldn’t control it?

Herbology ~ E > E
Plants have always been easier for Julian to work with than people; indeed, walking through a forest, garden, or natural place was his greatest pastime. Furthermore, the Choiniere Family specialized in the international trade and smuggling of rare or restricted herbs and growing said herbs and helping to make things with them always sounded like where he would fit in their operations. While he wasn’t too fond of writing about them, Julian would happily tend a garden of complicated plants.

History of Magic ~ E
Julian had a fascination for stories about how people– their fears and past choices and identities– affected and changed places and stories. He enjoyed reading biographies and memories of places in particular. People of the past at least seemed to make more sense than people of the present– perhaps because their stories were already written. Although he was very well read in history, his reading interests didn’t always align with the academic curriculum, so he decided against continuing to Advanced History..

Potions ~ A
Potions were a very fine form of magic that Julian thought was needlessly complicated. He liked the stability they provided in terms of effects, but Crafting provided an even better form of that; Julian decided midway through third year that the only potions he really cared about were ones used in his other interests– the potions used in Crafting, Herbology, and Rituals. He believed he would be continuing, but was pleasantly allowed to drop it..

Transfiguration ~ A
Julian was initially uncomfortable and overwhelmed by the inherent deception and complexity of transfiguration, but it seemed like the most simple and straightforward way of doing any kind of smuggling. He worked diligently at it and found interest in transfiguration spells if not the theory. While he didn’t continue in advanced transfiguration, his efforts led him to pursue animagii studies.

Voodoo~ E >A
Voodoo provided a system of magic that made more sense than other principles of magic; pulling from the powers of loa and understanding their competing domains and interests helped him understand magic to begin with. He believed in the loa like one believed in the laws of physics rather than some mystical force or religion.

ELECTIVES
Care of Magical Creatures ~ E
By the ONS, Julian had enough interactions with creatures to understand that they could be just as–if not more–frustrating as people. Any creature interaction he did, he decided, would be as an animagus, and even then, he later realized, he preferred speaking to familiars. He achieved the passing ONS score demanded by the Family to prove he understood the materials gathered from magical creatures, and successfully petitioned with his Grandmother to simply focus on the materials themselves in crafting.

Conjuring ~ E>O
Discussion with the dead and spirits was somewhere between talking to acquaintances and hanging out with close friends and family for him. He enjoyed the structure of conjuring– you sought out and summoned a spirit, communicated your request, and made a contract or found a different spirit. There was no need for small talk or multilayed motives (well, usually), and everything was written into the spells. He found a great fascination with the magic and mechanics of conjuring (even more than the discussion) and enjoyed coming up with ways to integrate runes or other disciplines of magic to power conjurations.

Crafting ~ O>O
Julian’s favorite place as a child had been the Model City in Bournesmouth, and he had always admired the detail and artistry of crafted items. The process of Making magic and enchanting things was very in line with his desire to take his time and attention to “grow with” every step and create a long-lived instrument of consistent magic. The skills from Crafting also encouraged his enjoyment and skills in making little crafts. Given enough time, he thought, he could Make a specific solution to any problem.

Cursebreaking ~ E > A
His adopted grandfather had convinced Julian that cursebreaking would be an interesting puzzle and would teach him useful skills for exploring and avoiding people. Instead, Julian found it more interesting for discreetly dismantling security wards with complimentary knowledge to setting appropriate wards when conjuring.

Rituals ~ E > E
Rituals were about the only time that Julian was completely comfortable with people– there were specific, defined scripts for interaction, everyone had specific, defined roles, and there were specific, expected results– rituals, properly conducted, had a wonderful spontaneity and meaningfulness of experience contained within bounded parameters for the magic. Rituals were fun experiences, and you could just conduct the ritual and let the magic do its thing without worry afterwards.

Study of Ancient Runes ~ O > O
Taken out of an interest in carved magic and the uses of runic manic, Julian found Runes and Runic magic useful in almost every other interest- there were practical uses for drawing conjuration circles with runes, etching runes into crafted items, or just using runes as anchors for wards. While tedious, even translation was good practice, and encountering runes in biographies or locations was always exciting.

Star Gazing ~ E > E
Star Gazing and the Astrology club, Julian found, suited his interests in the magical properties of astronomy. He was particularly interested in how the stars might affect conjuring, rituals, or enchanting. If capturing the power of a few moments led to stronger, more stable magic later, Julian would happily work a little harder to find, study, and add all the bonuses he could.

Yer post is gonna go here. Words. Descriptions. Let us know what your character is thinking and feeling. Let us know what's going on with their senses. Put yourself in their shoes. "Oh, and sometimes your character will say stuff. That'll go here," they say. And then maybe you'll say why they said that, or how they felt as they said that. Thinking is also good. Anyone ever tell you to think before you speak? Exactly.

I see the moon a-rising, reaching into night
I’d like to be that moon: A knowing, glowing light.
I know the silence as the world begins to wake
I’d like to be that silence as the morning breaks.
