Alice and Seb had been out at Diagon Alley doing some shopping, then they took an impromptu trip to Tesco to buy some groceries from the house. Since they'd been at Diagon Alley for most of their trip, Alice had left her phone on the table beside their bed. Alice placed a kiss on Seb's cheek, then walked into the bedroom to slip off her shoes and get something more comfortable on. Sitting down on the edge of the bed, she picked up her phone and saw that she had a missed call from her uncle and a voicemail. Why would Uncle Seamus be calling at this time of day? Especially since they'd just been there earlier. "Hey Sebby, Uncle Seamus called," she called out to him, then dialed her voicemail. Huffing a little sigh, Alice unlaced her boots and started to work them off as the message started. "Hey lass, something's happened and I need you to sit down before I tell you the news," her uncle's message began. "Alright, sitting down? We've had a visit at the house today. It was your mother. She came for a visit and said that she wants to talk to you. She left a phone number to reach her out. If you don't want to speak to her, I completely understand. Here's her number..."

Alice listened as her uncle said that her mother had come to look for her and wanted to speak to her. What could her mother want? Did Alice even care to find out what she wanted? After her flight from the house, where her mother hadn't even objected to her leaving... Did her mother deserve a minute of Alice's time? Tears sprang to her eyes and Alice sniffled, dabbed at her eyes. Her mother was never like her father; Alice was never afraid of her mother and her mother did always let Alice cook with her. Blue eyes looked down at her phone in her hands, another silent sob shaking her. "Sebby?!" she called out, her voice cracking a little as tears threatened to overwhelm her. She had to know what her mother wanted, right? She should at least grant her that. Right? Alice didn't know what to do, but Sebby would definitely know. He'd tell her what to do. Setting down her phone, she started to wring her hands together, struggling with what to do next.

Thankfully her hero knew her inside and out and could tell that something was wrong, and he was there in an instant, wrapping an arm around her. She relaxed into his warm embrace and drew in a deep, calming breath to control the hyperventilation threatening to overwhelm her. After a couple calming breaths, bright blue eyes opened again and the blonde took in the sight of her boyfriend. "So Uncle Seamus called and left a message... Apparently my mother showed up at the house looking for me. Uncle Seamus says she wants to apologize and talk with me." Alice hugged her mobile phone to her chest, a slight frown plastered on her face. She knew how Sebby felt about her parents. They'd all but abandoned her when she came out as trans and before that, they'd suppressed her into the perfect Declan shaped box they wanted. But had her mother done that? Whenever father wasn't around, her mother had allowed her to help in the kitchen or in the garden. And she was almost certain her mother had caught her, one summer day back between fourth and fifth year, trying on some of her girl clothes that Momma Kinzlie had bought her. Alice had thought she'd seen her mother out of the corner of her eye but when she looked again, she was gone.

"I... I think I have to meet with her. Just... just to hear what she has to say." Big blue eyes looked up at Seb, wondering what her boyfriend thought about the situation. Sebby had been protecting her since they first met back on the first day of school with Miss Nora. "You wouldn't be mad at me if I hear her out, would you?" Her lip quivered a little as the girl thought over the options that she had. Something inside her heart told her that she needed to hear her mother out, regardless of what she'd done to Alice in the past. Another part of her was scared that Sebastian would be mad at Alice for giving her even that. But Alice just... felt like she needed to listen. The blonde was usually a very good judge of character, but this was her mother and her vision might be clouded. It really all depended on what Seb would say though. If he didn't think Alice should meet with her mother, then she wouldn't.

A slight frown crossed her lips when he said he wouldn't be happy, but he wouldn't be mad either. Well, that was understandable, since he'd been there for her entire transition. Then he said that he would still back her up with whatever decision she made and the blonde smiled again. "Good, because if you think you're not coming with me, you're sorely mistaken. I need my Sebby." She leaned against him and smiled, drawing in a deep, calming breath. Looking at her phone, she said, "I better text her." Typing in her mother's new phone number, she sent a text saying it was her. Alice expected that her mother wouldn't respond right away, but she texted back within a couple moments. She asked to meet up with Alice because she had a lot of news that she wanted to impart but also because she wanted to apologize. Alice showed Sebastian her phone to show that not only was her mother acknowledging her Alice, but she had been using she/her pronouns in reference to Alice.
