xxxTristesse is the third child of George and Darlene Thorne. She has two older brothers and one older sister, Georgie, Charles, and Serafina. When she was five, her brother Georgie went off to Hogwarts, and she was seven when Charles left, then nine when Serafina joined them as well. She was ten years old when Georgie died in an accidental fall during Christmas break, despite her surge of magic trying to save him. It really scarred her, losing her brother like that, but it did confirm her magic. Her Hogwarts letter arrived several months later on her birthday.

xxxWhen she got to Hogwarts, she was sorted into Hufflepuff and quickly made lots of friends. It became quickly apparent that she was an ace with plants and excelled in the garden. However she struggled with offensive magic and Defense Against the Dark Arts in particular. She joined a couple clubs, enjoying the outdoors activities. Despite her brother's accident with falling, she continued to climb trees during the warm weather days. Going into her O.W.L. exams, she failed Defense, but that was expected when she couldn't face her boggart again. She passed her other courses and continued most of them into N.E.W.T. level.

xxxUpon graduation, she returned home to bad news. All her life, her parents had struggled financially, buried under a mound of debt. They were going to lose their ancestral family home, but they'd received an offer they couldn't refuse. A rather wealthy family was offering to pay off all their debts in exchange for Trist's hand in marriage. Tristesse couldn't say no, despite not loving the man. At eighteen years old, she was married to a man more than double her age. A few months after that, she was pregnant with her first child.
xxxTristesse might not have loved her husband, but she absolutely adored her child, her son Haytham. She doted on the boy so much that Arden said she was going to spoil him rotten. Trist often took him to the garden her husband allowed her to keep and would often sing or read to him. Even as he got older, she continued to coddle him. When Hayt was four, Trist became pregnant again, this time birthing a girl named Lysandra. Arden insist that she have a procedure done to prevent further pregnancy since two children was perfect for him.
xxxWith her two perfect babies, Trist continued to play the dutiful wife while enjoying her role as doting mother. She made sure that both of her children were raised well, worrying as Haytham became more and more like his father. She tried to steer him back towards acceptance, but he seemed to follow in the footsteps of the father he idolized. Lys, however, seemed to take more after her mother, much to Trist's relief. On his eleventh birthday, Hayt received his Hogwarts letter and Trist worried even more.
