~ Meeting Duke ~

Duke struggled in the grasp of teeth that held him up by the thick scruff of loose fur around his neck, reaching up to paw at the female whom had been charged with his care for the moment. Squawking little chirrups and pathetic neighs escaped him but he was in no pain; he was just anxious to get down and play!

His wish is granted when the female sets him down onto the soft grass, which is considerably different territory than what he is used to. Naturally he is astonished, opening his eyes to look down at the grass beneath his footpaws. He forces himself to stand, legs wobbling as he attempts to get his balance only to fall face first into the ground with a grunt of surprise.

Torini was rolling around in the grass. Well, moreover she was stuck on her back kicking at the air. How she'd gotten like that, it was hard to say, but she was. A pathetic mewling sound emitted from her small mouth, eyes still closed and little wings pathetically trying to flutter under the mass of newborn folds.

The female who'd been tending to her and some of the other newborns had gone off for a moment with another, not realizing the little one had somehow managed to get in such an odd perdicament. Moments passed and the little one finally subsided to the fact she seemed to be stuck like that.

The little ears perked slightly at the sound of something crashing, then grunting close by. With renewed vigour, the little one let out another whine, hoping to draw attention to herself.

His ears twitch as nearby he manages to see through the blades of grass a kicking figure that had been the cause of the whining. He pushes up to his feet because it's his curiosity that forces him to stumble very quickly across the grass with absolutely no grace. His head drops down just in time as he starts to lose his balance, and at the same time it pushes into Torini to roll her back onto her belly and he trips over her, doing a full frontal flip and crashing onto the ground with a loud shriek of surprise.

He blinks his brown eyes quickly, momentarily stunned and confused. His head gives a hard shake as he sits up once more, turning to look over his shoulder and at the little nearby Hippogryph chick. His tuft tail twitches back and forth and he chirrups a happy greeting at her!

Flop! Landing on her belly, Torini gave a soft chirp like noise back in Duke's direction. She found herself rolling over as Duke had taken that tumble. The tiny bit of tail she had rapidly moved back and forth, tiny clawed paws kneading the grass before her.

Letting out another soft mewl noise at Duke, one small paw lifted above her head before flumping back to the ground. This moving was so much effort!

His ears swivel as he watches the newborn, which was considerably smaller than he and not moving too much. Well, she was trying to anyway. He turns around to face her without actually standing up in order to do so. Curious little paw reaches out to playfully tap at her head and he nickers out in a playful voice at her.

Meanwhile his own den mother is nearby keeping careful watch. Most of the other newborns are with her as are some of the older children. She is just watching in case something does go awry, such as Torini's mother getting upset at the poking and prodding on Duke's behalf.

Wibble Torini's little head bopped down to the ground, then popped back up as she whined out at Duke. That wasn't very nice! Not very nice at all! The little paw came up and landed on the bigger paw, attempting to tap his paw down as he'd tapped her head.

Torini's den mother, by this point, was turning a cautious eye over towards the pair. She didn't mind them playing, she just did not want the little chick to get hurt. At least the chick wasn't alone for the moment however. If things went bad she'd simply go retrieve Torini.

Duke didn't seem to really realize that he might be stronger than the little infant. This is something he would learn later on as he climbs up to his wobbly legs and leans over to start sniffing her. However, he leans too far and falls right atop of her. No doubt she'd probably wail out in pain because he's bigger, at which point he scrambles to try and get away but to no avail!

And what a wail it was. As the squeal passed the tiny chick's lips, her den mother's ears perked up, turning on her large heels to notice that Duke had fallen flat atop the little one.

"..." Nudging her fledglings close together, she turned back and started to make her way over towards the pair. Looked like it may be a bit dangerous for Torini to be there by herself at the moment. It was time to bring her back to the group.

As the Eastern mother came forth, he's still trying to get away but he hasn't learned walking just yet. When that female looms over him, he shrinks away, ears pinning back against his head. She had that look of intimidation that was very unfamiliar to him as the little boy was used to the sweet looks from his mother.

And speaking of her, she is quick to make her way over and grab him by the scruff to yank him away before anything could go wrong. He tucks his legs up against his body as he dangles there, looking back at the other larger Hippogryph then to the little newborn on the ground. A loud whinnying -- as loud as he could manage, which isn't much -- escapes his throat, struggling to try and get down because he wanted to play still unaware of what he had done.

The little newborn had no idea what was going on. She could tell there were other gryph's present now, the smell of her mother, and other she did not know were there. When Duke whinnied down towards her, she made a soft coo chirrup noise back in his direction.

Torini's den mother just gave a slight nod to the Western mother. She didn't want to start anything, she was simply concerned over the gryph chick's well-being. Leaning down she lifted the small chick by the scruff and turned, starting to head back towards the rest of her fledglings.

This wasn't what she wanted though! Wriggling with very little affect, the newborn began to cry out, wanting to go back and play with her new, albeit larger, friend.

Exhales a slight huffing when his mother just stares back at the other female, holding the older chick in her grasp. Her ears swiveling as the opposing den mother turns and walks off to her chicks, and she herself does the same.

Duke is sat down and given a look as he starts to romp off in the direction of where he had been. He stops under the stare, tucking his tail inbetween his legs as best he can and pinning his ears back then lifting them. His wings extend out, drawing back in, and without thinking, sprints forward to go after Torini, stumbling, tripping, and in the end, falling before he can even get close. He can hear the approaching steps of his mother again and he jerks himself up to his feet that almost close under him as he runs disgracefully after the others and bumps right into Torini's den mother's leg with a grunt afterwards. He falls back, landing on his bum and looking up at her. A loud chirrup to announce that he has returned!

When the soft thud of a small, now familar white and variously brown Gryph toddler hit her leg, the Eastern den mother turned her head, looking down to the small critter. Torini chirrped back, recognizing the sound of Duke's voice.

Rolling her eyes, Torini's caretaker plopped the newborn down on top of Duke. The kid had some gusto at least, they could play for a bit longer. At least they were closer to where the newborn should be.

She did, however, snort a quick warning to the Western toddler. No more tapping the little one!

He doesn't seem to be aware of the mother now that Torini is back down on the ground! He hops up to his feet again and leans over to start sniffing at her. He chirrups at her and playfully gives her a lick over her nose.

Meanwhile the Western mother is standing nearby, watchful now and irritable at the less than obedient Duke. What a handful he was, but it wasn't as bad as it will be when he gets older. She was more cautious of the other female because a den mother's primary objective was to protect the chicks, and she was going to be sure this didn't go awry. A fight would not be the best thing for them.

Duke's attention is still on that little Eastern toddler though, nosing around her body and face in curiosity, taking hold of a wing gently in his mouth and tugging at it as he paws at her. He seems to be albeit more gentle in his antics now as if aware of how much bigger he is.

The wing that wasn't in Duke's mouth began to flap like a hummingbird's would. As one of his paws came back up around her face, Torini opened her mouth and proceeded to gum at it, her body wiggling happily.

This was so much better than being stuck on her back.

He didn't exactly have teeth either; he was in that teething stage at the moment so she wasn't going to get hurt by anything except his insistent gnawing. He himself isn't bothered by her gumming at his paw either, stretching the fingers a bit as he shakes the little wing in his mouth gently.

His ears roll as he looks around at the others, tail twitching slightly behind him. He finally releases the wing to take notice of the other one that beats quickly, staring at it with wide eyes. Leaning forward he gets smacked and jerks his head back in surprise.

When Torini felt the wing whack into something, she let it fall down to her back, turning her little head as if to attempt to see what was going on. Not that it would do her much good. Her eyes still did not really want to open.

Wiggling around until she was on her back again, she started kicking her paws up towards Duke's face, a mock attempt to 'maul' her... large prey.

Doesn't seem to be bothered too much by the wing for long. His nostrils flare slightly and he exhales a little yawn, feeling a sudden bout of infant fatigue hit him. There's the possibility of slumber as he starts to set his head down when she rolls onto her back and starts to kick him! He blinks himself awake when she actually does kick him, right in the jaw and he whines out at her pathetically, though not actually hurt.

When Duke whined at her, Torini managed to flop herself back over, tail wagging about once more. Sadly, yawns were contagious and the newborn found herself becoming weary as well. So much play for one so small! Stretching slightly she found herself gnawing lightly on the grass, tail suddenly slowing it it's waggy-ness.

Letting out another whine back at Duke, she pawed over her nose and made a soft mewl noise. Sleepy.

He sniffs, wrinkling his nostrils some and blinking his eyes. He was getting sleepier by the minute and decided that now would be a good time for a nap. Tucking his head down he nestles it in between his large forepaws, closing his eyes as he bundles his hindlegs back up against his body to get warm. He doesn't even hear the little whine from Torini, falling quickly asleep.

~ Meeting Aeryn ~

Prancing about the field, Torini had wandered away from the Den mother and the newborn gryphs with her. She was a big girl now and wanted to explore!

The day was nice and the sun was bright. A butterfly seemed to catch her eye and she leapt towards it, promptly landing in heap... missing the bug by a mile.

Darn.

Aeryn was up and ready to go! She just had a little nap since apparently the little infant has not been having enough sleep. So, the moment she waddled back to her mother, she plopped onto those giant wings and fell asleep. Anyway, time to waddle around while there was still time before lunch.

She crawled upon the grass lands and found herself looking at an older hippogryph chasing a butterfly.. but sort of failed after she jumped. Aeryn chirped slightly, not in an offensive way but wondering whether the other was alright.

Hey, someone else was awake! Fluffing her tail, and pulling herself back up, Torini began to trot her way over to the littler Gryph.

Wasn't from her flock, someone new!

"Hi!" she chirped back, obviously not phased by the fact she'd fallen.

She blinked her beady pink eyes and took a few steps back just as a precaution. But seeing how friendly the hippogryph seemed, she jumped up and wiggled her tiny feathers about.

"H-H-" Aeryn clicked her tongue and pawed at her ears, she was still having a bit of trouble communicating. "Hello." Finally, she managed.

Aww, she was so small. Torini had officially rid herself of any thought of ever being so tiny. She was always bigger, yup. At least in her mind.

Beaming, Torini plopped her butt down and seemed to grin. Her tail was flickering back and forth, and she was in the best of moods.

"Isn't it nice out? I'm Torini. Who're you?"

Aeryn observed her, looking from down to way up. Woah, was she going to be that big too when she grows up? Well, maybe as big as her own mother too! She could not wait to be able to fly, it would definately be easier to move around.. and that she would not have problems talking.

"I-..I'm Aeryn. N-Nice to meet you." She sat on her behind as well, trying to do whatever Torini was doing. But of course she could not possibly wave her wings about. "And yeah.. it's a bit.. hot.." To her it was since she did live up in the North.

"Really? You think so?" Torini turned her head up to the sky. Seemed comfortable to her. There was a bit of a warm breeze, but it felt nice.

"Nice to meet you too though." She turned her head back and grinned again, letting herself settle down a bit.

"Wanna play?"

"Play?" She tilted her head to the side with much curiousity. The only games she knew was.. catch the nearest bug or climb over mummy and daddy. Aeryn wagged her tail a bit.

"I-I wouldn't mind." Her eyes lowered to the floor and stared at their shadows for a moment. Torini's shadow was so much bigger than hers..

Noticing the smaller Gryph watching their shadows, Torini folded her wings in closer to her body, so that her shadow would shrink, at least a bit.

"I know a fun game." she flicked her tail about again, "It's called Hiders Seekers." she nodded, "One of us Hides, the other one seeks her out!" that game was actually good in her thought tracks, it didn't matter your size then!

Actually... being bigger sucked for being the hider!

Her head tilted even further, while her entire body slanted.. It appeared as if Aeryn would fall any second but she just as quickly went back onto her four paws. She smiled at the shadows and looked up again.

"That sounds like fun!" Amazing, a sentence where she did not mess up her words, perhaps she was improving now. "W-Who is going to be the.. the hider and the seeker?" She really did not mind either.

"You can pick. Whichever you'd like to be." Torini nickered lightly in glee before kicking a bit of loose dirt from her backfoot.

She was content to just play. Giving the smaller chick the choice seemed like a good idea too! They could just take turns anyways.

She pondered for a moment and nodded her head a couple of times. "Um.. I could.. go.. hide first?" Aeryn wiggled her body and flapped her ears backwards. This was going to be much fun, she supposed so.

The little fluff kind of knew a good hiding spot, and since she was small enough. There was no problem fitting into the hole.

"Alright then... I'll go close my eyes for a bit... and count to ten. Then I'll call out that I'm coming... okay?" With that she turned away, nestling down on the ground with her paws covering her eyes.

"One... two..." she began slowly.

The moment Torini hid her eyes and counted, she hurried towards the hole in the nearest cave. There was where her mother's home was for the time being, whenever they visited the center lands.

She curled her body into a ball and squished into the small area. Hopefully Aeryn would not have a problem coming out later.. she would not want to be stuck there forever.

"And.... TEN!" Torini popped back up, paws stretched out as she turned her little head like a swivel.

"I'm gonna fiiiiinnnnddd yooouuuuu!" she called out on the winds, making it known the seeking would begin.

Snuffing the ground, Torini began to search around, poking and prodding in various places, trying to find the smaller Gryph.

She heard the cry and quickly snuggle into the hole even further. Aeryn let out a giggle, somewhat and laid her head against the rock. Her eye peeked out one of the much smaller holes and looked out for Torini. The white fluff had not gone too far so the other hippogryph was not too far away.

Ears twitching, Torini noticed the sound of a giggle. She grinned to herself and slowly began to move in on it.

"Come out come out wherever you are..." she laughed.

Aeryn covered her mouth with her paws and sunk into the hole. Well, that was a bad idea to make a sound.. so that was the trick of the game, to be as silent as possible. She hid her head under the shadows, hoping her fur color would not give her hiding spot away. Which was hard since she was completely white with colors of pink and the sun.

As she moved further and further towards the cave, Torini's paw snuffed at something. Was it Aeryn? Peering down she let out an agitated snort.

Nope. It was a white mouse.

That was certainly smaller than Aeryn.

"I know you're here..." she preened.

Eek. Torini was really near now that she thought of it. Shaking her tail from left to right, she tried to sink even further but you'd think she was going to get stuck.. and that she did. With another wiggle, Aeryn found out that she could not move any longer and squeaked.

"Huh?" Torini blinked then moved over to where the squeak had come from.

"Aeryn? Are you in there?" she'd found the little hole and noted a white fluff of fur.

"You okay?"

"I.. I think I'm stuck.." She continued to shove her body about and let out another chirp, feeling a bit of rock poking through her fur and onto he flesh. "I can't really move.." Aeryn's paws waved about frantically, wondering if Torini would help her. Since now that the game was over.

Stuck? That wasn't part of the game! Oh no!

"Uh... uh..." Torini began to look around, how could she help?

Inching closer she surveyed the infant, "Maybe if you wriggle a bit to your left... there looks like a bit of space there..."

She blinked at Torini and squeaked again. "O-Okay.." Aeryn did what she was told and wiggled to her left, managing to get her left backpaw into the space. She was able to move it freely again. But.. now what? Maybe she could try to push herself, somehow.

"Hmm... maybe I can pull you out... tell me to stop if it hurts okay!?" Torini reached down and began to attempt to scoop the infant out.

Oh why couldn't she be any bigger? If she was bigger she could just reach down with her teeth and drag Aeryn out by the scruff.

"A-Alright." She closed her eyes and awaited for Torini to pull her out. Thank her parents for the thick fur, so it would take a bit of force for her to actually feel anything. Wiggling the rest of her body, she managed to pop out her right backpaw and frontpaws out of the hole. Her head was free as well. Which meant.. her left backpaw was left. "Erm.."

"..." Well, most of her body was out.

"Is it stuck in a corner or somethin'?" Torini questioned. She couldn't really get a good look to see...

"I think so.. It's still stuck in that tiny hole." She squirmed around and then looked up to Torini. "Could you hold onto my paws and.. tug?" That was the only way she could get out of there now.

"Okay..." her voice was hesitant as she gave a soft whiney of concern.

Clutching as best as she could to the smaller Gryph's paws, she counted down, "One... two... three.... Out!" she began to tug as best she could without digging her claws into Aeryn's paws, or hurting her on the exit.

With Torini's tug, Aeryn managed to pop out of the hole and land safely onto the ground. She squeaked as she rolled onto her belly, then her back, then onto her belly again. "T-That was scary.. I thought I was going to be there for a long time.. T-Thank you Torini."

"No problem... Glad I could help get you out!" she nudged at the young one with her nose, "Are you hurt?"

Torini felt a tiny pang of guilt for what had happened. If she had picked another game, then the chick wouldn't have gotten stuck at all.

Aeryn rolled over to the side and plomped down. "Hehe.. Nope! I-I'm not!" She giggled while her tail waved around happily. Even though a lot of time was wasted while she was stuck.. she actually did have fun.

"I'm fine, really. See?" The fluff hopped up and stood onto her backpaws for a moment before falling back down, just to show that she was not injured anywhere.

"Alright!" Torini beamed once again. The chick was fine! That was great, she didn't have to feel so bad now.

Fluffing her wings out she patted Aeryn's head. Her wings were all ruffled from the excitement of it all, her heart was just pounding to boot!

"Well, it was certainly an interesting game of Hiders Seekers!" she nickered and padded the ground under her feet.

"It was a really good hiding spot though! If you hadn't called out I may not have found you!"

"Hehe, well. I'm small enough to fit so.." Aeryn's head moved downwards as Torini gave a pat. She half wondered whether they were going to continue with the game or do something else. Her tiny wings fluttered against her body. "It was easy for me to find a spot." Did she not stutter for those two sentences? Woah! She really felt proud of herself.

"So, would ya like to do something else? Or shall we give the game another go?" she giggled, turning a circle and stretching.

The sun was starting to get lower in the sky, it was getting close to evening. The Den mother's were soon going to be rounding chicks up so the games had to start before they came searching.

Aeryn gave a little yawn and shook her head. "No.. it's alright. I'm.. getting kinda tired right now." Her eyes were droopy but managed to keep her sight onto Torini and a much bigger hippogryph approaching. It was mother.. it was time to go. "Maybe.. I'll see you again?" She rubbed the back of her ears, feeling extremely exhausted.

"Aww.. alright." Torini nodded as the Northern den mother came wandering over.

"And yes, I hope so! We'll have to play then again." Torini's tail flickered back in forth at the prospect of another playtime with Aeryn. It had been fun overall!

"Bye!" with that, Torini took off before the Northern Den mother got too close, she was still rather nervous of the other mothers. Running as fast as she could she scooted back into the field only to come face to face with...

The butterfly...

~ Meeting Gaea & Revisiting with Duke ~

Snuffing around the field, Torini kicked at a bit of dirt. Shoving her nose into it, she pulled back when something suddenly wriggled around.

Letting out a rather loud, surprised whinny, the pinkish purple gryph bolted back suddenly. Getting a few, sure steps, she saw something peach, almost pink in colour, wriggling around.

"EIW! A worm!" she exclaimed rather loudly, tail swishing about.

"GROSS!"

Gaea heard the other Gryph (Torini) squeal and re-directed herself, thinking the other might be in danger. Huffing a bit, she arrived at the filly's side,
"What's the matter?" she asked, peering at this new gryph she hadn't met before,
"Are you okay?"

Duke blinks, his ears perking as he hears that shrilling whinny and he takes off in a gallop after Gaea, wings flapping as he moves, barely lifting him up off the ground as he moves, but he wasn't necessarily flying.

Once there, he skids to a halt, spreading the large pair of feathers and then nestling them against him. He smiles brightly.

"Torini!" And is prompt to tackle her!

"Yah... I'm alright... but there's a worm there!" she wrinkled her nose, pointing at the 'slimey' creature now slowly begining to burrow down beneath the soil.

"So gross... it tried to go up my nose!" she turned and gave a disgusted look at Gaea, the idea of a worm getting up there surely was not a wonderful thought.

"By the way, my name is..." the abrupt calling of her name from a rather familar voice caused Torini's ears to flicker as she turned her head.

"Duke! Hey!" she called back, wings fluffing up high in greeting, "You got even bigger!"

Gaea blinked, looking at the worm,
"What is wrong with a worm?" she asked, then blinked again as she introduced herself,
"Now, what a minute. You cannot be Duke! Duke is Duke!"

Duke tackled Torini, paying no mind to what the two girls were saying. He rolls with her to pin her down then leaps off, bouncing around like the happy kid he is.

He stops though at Gaea's words and lets out a laugh. "No, her name is Torini! I'm Duke. I haven't seen her in awhile." He sits down, reaching out to paw at Tori's face.

"There's three of us now! We can play!"

"Yah! I met Duke when I was teensy... he squashed me then... bet he couldn't do that now though!" Torini pawed back at Duke, and nodded to Gaea.

"What's your name?" she grinned, "And I don't like worms when they try to go up my nose! It's gross!"

Gaea blinked,
"Well, I don't think it was -really- trying to go up your nose. It wouldn't have anything to eat there or anything. My den mother told me worms eat dirt."

She nodded satisfactorily at the explanation,
"Oh. Okay. Hello Torini. I'm Gaea." She smiled, making a little bow. Her ears flicked as Silvanus tickled them again with his tail while fluttering over her head,
"...and this is Silvanus."

"I bet I could so!" he retaliates, flopping to the ground, butt in the air, ready to tackle Torini again as he grins at her, mischeviously.

"I bet I could take you both on and win!" he stands up, proudly boasting out his chest, which one day would become full with the mane that was starting to grow at the top of his head. "Because I'm bigger and older," he states, nodding his head.

"Oh... well.. it was tickling my nose anyways... I didn't want to chance it!" she exclaimed brightly, nodding as though she knew exactly what she was talking about.

"Aww... Silvanus is cute! Horsefly! I've seen a few, but never this close up before!" she grinned before turning and huffing at Duke.

"Nu uh... no way! You so could not." she puffed out her wings, turning a circle as he readied his pounce.

When he stood up she stuck out her tongue and winked, "You'd lose, cause you're a booooooy..." she nickered with amusement.

~ Gaea and Torini's Chick sitting Service! ~

Skipping about the fields, Torini pranced around in a circle, bending down and snuffing at something. Pulling her head back, she wrinkled her nose as a tiny, red paw came hurtling towards her.

Nickering with amusement, Torini whinied at the thing below her. "Hey! Get up get up! It's morning get up!" she called to it.

Mushu, on the other hand, had other plans. They involved sleeping. Not listening to some happy-go-lucky morning gryph! It was early... the sun hadn't even reached the mid sky point! Curling into a tighter ball, Mushu whined and snorted. Women!

Crik Kee, on the other hand, was happily fluttering about. The mornings didn't bother him at all... he was a lucky horsefly afterall!

Gaea frolicked in circles around the fluffy yellow mass before her. She enjoyed watching him. The little guy -was- very entertaining, afterall! He'd roll around and snuffle the grass and stuff and he was cute and little and fluffy!

She paused a moment as he started crawling in one direction, following him with her nose snuffling the ground for any sense of danger! Even though it wasn't her job to protect this little chick, she thought it wasn't a bad idea. Even if there wasn't really any danger here anyhow. He could get stung by a bumblebee, afterall!

Helios crawled forwards. He was tired of lying about and rolling around at this point. He needed more entertainment! He had caught a sniff of a different smell from any other he had ever encountered before, and he was moving towards it. Maybe it'd be snuggly and warm. Or maybe interesting at the least. Interesting was good too.

Gaea spotted another chick lying about in the grass. She blinked, then trotted over to sniff at it. He was...strange. Stranger than any of the other chicks she'd seen!
"Hmmmm...."

Pinning her wings back, Tori's brow furrowed as the little red moppet refused to do anything... interesting. She didn't remember being this boring when she was small.

Flicking her ears around, she got an idea in her head. She'd simply move him around! That was the ticket for sure! Reaching down, she did what her den mother had often done to her when she was small... picked him right up by the scruff of his neck!

Wow he was heavy!

Crik Kee stopped his fluttering around and eyes drew wider as the young Gryph picked up his friend. Uh oh..

Snorting awake again suddenly, Mushu let out a loud howl of annoyance. What was going on? Why was he in the air? And why did he smell morning breath!?

Ignoring the tiny one's pleas, and the fact that Mushu's butt was nearly dragging around on the ground, Tori turned about and looked around. Narrowing her gaze slightly, she made an attemptive grin, which proved difficult while having a mouthfull of fuzz, and began to trot in the direction of a familar face.

Gaea she believed. A friend of Duke's! And hey! She had some little ones as well with her! As she drew nearer, she blinked as she heard a strange, foreign sound to her. Bleating? It was then she noticed the... well it kinda looked like fur, white and pink... gryph? Anyways it was fumbling towards where Gaea and this other two chicks were...

How peculiar.

"Gwaeah!" She attempted to call out to the green Gryph.

Even though half deaf, Beast could infact hear the anxious bleating, and boy was it NOISY, he decided. So noisy in fact, that the lithe chick lifted his head from his front paws and sniffled the air angrily, hissing in annoyance at the general directiong of... well, the strangely noisy thing. Couldn't it see it was trying to sleep? How inconsiderate of it!

Beast would have none of this.

After directing a blind scowl towards the lamb, he snorted, grumbling as he curled up into a tighter ball. The day had not started well... all these ... things had been bothering him endlessly. But then again, there was little that didn't bother him, it was not poor Susan's fault in the least. As he had decided that perhaps ignoring the lamb would be the bst way to tackle the problem, a large female came forth, sniffling him.

This would just NOT do.

Snorting angrily, the Beast uncurled a paw and batted slightly at Gaea's maw, never hurting her, but rather... just pawing, almost as if trying to voice his obvious annoyance.

Gaea looked up from the chick she was sniffing (Beast), somehow managing not to notice the creature pawing at her, and peered at Torini curiously. Her eyes grew wide when she saw the red ball of fluff in the other's mouth,
"Hey! That's a chick, isn't it? Do you really think you ought to be carrying him around and stuff? I don't think you're big enough. What if you hurt 'im?"

Helios made his slow way towards Beast, then stopped upon touching him and attempted to snuggle against him, taking in his scent to get the feel of him...but felt a paw hit him instead. He backed away a little bit. Hmmm....very odd indeed...and there was another strange smell coming towards them as well! He lifted his tiny fuzzy head to sniff at the little lamb-gryph

Susan's bleating stoped instantly as she took note of what she had run into, it was large but did not in the least smell like her favorite things, humans. She squished her nose against it trying to take in it's scent. It smelled like something alright, but not her human.

What is that?

The fluffy chick could hear something, although muffled and was not at all sure what to make if it. They were not people voices, they sounded more like her to an extent. She leat out a slow bleat and shook her head from side to side as if to say, hello anyone there?

"Nw...Mm dwnf phnk hw'll bre hrff..." she knelt down and let the squabbling red fluffball down on the ground.

"I mean, no, I don't think he'll be hurt. Looks fine to me... boy he's awful loud though..." she mused slightly, shaking her head.

"Who are those chickies?" she asked, ignoring Mushu who'd curled up in a ball by this point, "I've not seen them before either!"

Stupid women folk. Mushu had a headache, and he wanted to go back to sleep! That Torini girl needed to go away. He knew she wouldn't though. She'd been around since she'd found him the other day. Seemed to have taken a shine to the little horned gryph.

Snorting into the grass, Mushu uncurled suddenly, while Torini was talking to Gaea, and started to slowly crawl away. He could hear others, smaller others. Probably closer to his size. At least, maybe, if he could get to them, he'd be saved another bumpy ride across the field.

"What a funny looking Gryph." Torini commented lightly on the lamb-gryph, changing the subject once again.

"Actually... they're all kinda... funny lookin'. 'Cept the yellow one..."

Gaea blinked, "They look different, but I don't think they look funny. All the little chicks are cute, in their own way." She trotted over to Mushu and nuzzled him very gently, making sure he was okay,
"Well, you're right, he doesn't seem hurt, at least."

Helios made his way determinedly to the fluffy little lamb gryph, sniffing at her curiously and then snuggling against her. Maybe she'd be as much fun as the other warm spot he'd snuggled and played with yesterday!

Well, the other gryph didn't feel like people hands, but he sure was warm! She pushed against him lightly trying to absorb his heat. Even with wool-like fuzz she was still very cold in the open air, and she shivered slightly, letting out a slow content bleat. You're soft, I like you. was what she thought and she slightly dozed.

Growling angrily (which of course, taking in his size and his newborn voice, came out more like a frustrated kitten yowl), Beast voiced his displeasure at all this... this snuggling, bumping and rubbing against his body. In fact, he was allready pondering going on an odesy (read: walking another five meters away from these here gryphs, because of course... the chick was SURE he'd be the ONLY one capable of such a feat), never once did it cross his mind that the larger gryphs would not only be able to follow his stumbling frame, but if he could... most likely, the other small chicks could.

So thus, the Beast-like-chick got up and began to try and pad away, failing utterly as he stumbled down, tripping over his own legs, not to mention running right into poor susan, sending them both down in a mangled heap or cloack, fur and feathers.

How.... how EVIL!

How terribly eeeevil! Lifting his head up, the small male finally gave in and opened his eyes to take a look around, whinning noisely as he tried to paw his way out of the mess he'd caused, however, he swiftly closed them, for the light was simply too bright to bear; how terribly unfair...

"Yah, I know. See! No harm done!" Torini lifted her head triumphantly, as though to prove that she new exactly what she was doing in the first place.

Which was absolute bunk, but Gaea didn't need to know that.

"Hey! Look at that! So cute!" Torini trotted over to where Beast was attempting to move around.

"He's trying to walk!" she grinned and nickered at him. At least her shadow was casting over him now, cutting the light off from him slightly.

Mushu found himself getting closer, and closer to other, hopefully more calm, gryphs. Before he got there, however. He was intercepted by Gaea, who was checking to make sure he was okay. Of course he was okay though! He was the Great Mushu!

Gaea nuzzled him again, just to be sure, and then trotted back over to Helios and the new little lamb. She nuzzled both to make sure they were okay, since Beast had thumped into them, and then went back over to Torini,
"We should watch these chicks!" she suggested to the other, "..Make sure nothing bad happens to them, 'n all. They're just babies! There are...there are...-bees- and things around here that could hurt 'em."

Helios was amused, more than anything else, by all the jostling going on. He chirped appreciatively when Gaea nuzzled him, and then rolled over to expose his belly to the morning sun-- his favourite pasttime. Mmm...so nice and snuggly warm! So was the little gryph next to him, really, though she seemed to be shivering. But she felt warm enough to him!

A cry, much like a gryph and unlike the bleating of a lamb escaped her as she tumbled. She reached out and bit something beside her, not hard, but enough to hurt. How dare you?! She cried out again. She was pushed from something warm and cozy, grr! She bleated for the warm creature, where'd ya go? This new one felt slightly like the old, but she was terrified it pushed her away form a warm thing!

Upon feeling the bite, the small chick bristled angrily, eyes flying open, only to close almost instantly, this time a snarl marring his growl; he too aimed to bite right back, however, unlike the lamb, it was probable his bite was slightly more hurtful, what with the fact needle sharp teeth protuded over his upper lip.

As soon as he'd bitten the soft... thing, Beast stumbled away, annoyed, frustrated and altogether as upset as he'd ever been, looking much like a ruffled up feline; his plumage anf fur had puffed up, making him look bigger than he truly was.

How DARE they touch him? How dare they HURT him?! Still hissing and snapping at the air, the strange Gryph backed out from under Torini's shadow, having decided that company merely lead to being harmed, pushed, shoved and alltogether... bothered, all of them being things he didn't quite appreciate in the least.

"Bye Gaea!" Torini called out when the Green gryph suddenly remembered she was late. She'd plucked up the yellow Gryph and run off.

Turning her attention back to the chicks, she noticed a bit of a commotion had started. A bit of snarling and hissing, and some whining was filtering it's way to her ears.

Aww... the horned, brown chick seemed a bit upset when she saw him. He'd crawled out from under her shadow after the strange white and pink gryph had bit him. It wasn't nice to bite others.

A little frown formed on her lips and she wandered over the the lamb-gryph, nudging it lightly with her nose. "No bites." she stated firmly, trying to sound her best like her den mother.

small tears trickled from the lamb's closed eyes, and the bleating and noise had stopped. What she had bitten, bit back and HARD! In slight shock form tumbling, and then being harmed she lay perfectly still on her side, a small ring of blood, in the shape of teeth, was on one of her legs.
She was glad to feel it depart, and not to smell it anymore, the sent had reminded her slightly of the soft thing earlier, but it was most certainly not the soft thing. Human, where are you? I'm tired, I want to sleep and cuddle in your warmth! She let out a mournful bleat and didn't move an inch, she wasn't moving until she felt people hands.

She felt the nudge of something larger, and a muffled, "no bites!" brought more fear to her, what if it was going to bite her too? She wasn't going to use her teeth ever again! She shivered more out of fear that anything.

The crying and sniffling reached the partially deaf ears of the chick, however, he seemed unmoved by it; in fact, he merely snorted twice, as if to voice something akeen to 'Your own fault, Thing! Shouldn't have decided to BITE me!', for after all, how dare it? How dare any of them be near him, anyhow? All he'd wanted to do was rest, however, everyone seemed keen to annoy him.

Another snort was produced, his pelt finally settling down around him, however, it was visible he was still bristling

Grumbling, Beast decided that perhaps if he looked away from everyone and alltogether ignored them... perhaps they'd ignore him right back! However, he knew not of Toirin's disposition and the fact she wished only to help him... his plan was bound to fail, no doubt. At any rate, he'd give it a try; thus why he curled up away from both Lamb and larger griff, snorting once as a muffled 'No bites' reached his ears.

It deserbed the scowling; It'd started it, not him... he'd be damned if he wasn't going to answer back; violence for violence. Strange mentality indeed, but then again... he was young, and inmature. Beast had a long way to go.

Torini felt a little bad scolding the tiny lamb-gryph. Sighing lightly she nudged it a bit more gently, as if offering condolences of some sort, as uncertain of it as she was...

The thing looked a little out of place.

Oh, an idea! Hopping up she rushed over to find Mushu, quickly snatching him up and dropping him back down next to Susan. Grinning she wagged her tail and puffed up proudly. She was a genius! Mushu could play with her!

Man, she was so good.

Suddenly AND AGAIN being pulled from his warm spot, Mushu yowled out as he was suddenly dropped next to another, ... wooly? Gryph. He could just tell Torini was beaming. RUINING HIS LIFE! As short as it was so far.. That's what she was doing though.

Snorting, he ignored her and turned his head into Susan's side. Maybe, MAYBE this one would be quiet. He hoped so. He could get some rest finally.

Content that Mushu was going to stay there, Torini turned around once more, eyeing the Beast. Tilting her head, she slowly wandered over. For something so tiny and small, it seemed awfully moody. She'd heard stories about moody Gryph's before. Getting into fights with others. But she'd never met one, least... she didn't think so.

Plopping down about a foot away from it, her head dropped to the ground as she stared at him. Seemed... harmless enough.

If Susan's eyes would ahve ben opened she would have blinked multiple times. First the harsh prod, then a tender one, and now SOMETHING was next to her. As it settled in she whimpered lightly, the feathers pressed against her made her think of the thing that had bit her. She slowly lifted her head to sniff it, pressing her nose close to it's ear, inhaling deeply. It wasn't the thing! She pushed against it excitedly a small exstatic bleat escaped and then she fell silent.

No such luck, it seemed, for no sooner had he padded two steps away from them all, and had settled down again, that he more felt that saw or heard Torini pad over. His ears flattened back even further against the nape of his neck, a warning hiss escaping his maw in an attempt to scare her away... after all, this time he was taking no chances; he was not about to let this new one bite him like the last. Beast was not about to trip over the same rock twice! Not him!

Scotting away slight, trying to make the distance between them further, the small chick turned to 'scowl' up at the larger female, looking quite wary, offput and on edge; his frame still bristled slightly, puffing up in warning, trying to voice out with signals what he could not with his real voice, a chirp here and there accentuating the whole stance.

Good god, he should've NOT traveled those five meters , earlier; the place he'd stumbled upon was no doubt something akeen his particular hell, what with all the howling, noise, movement and touching! Emphasis on the touching... what was with these things and trying to touch him? Was HE trying to touch THEM? I think not!

Well, it only made a little noise. Mushu seemed pretty happy about that. Nestling down, he attempted to drift off into sleep...

To no avail sadly. All that commotion, and all the tossing around had brought him to as awake as he could be. Snuffing lightly, he padded the wooly gryph a bit, trying to figure her out. She smelled, sorta like a gryph, but sort of not. There was a strange, and unfamilar smell around her.

He couldn't place it though. Flopping onto his back, he stretched out his paws, yawned rather loudly, and struck his tongue out to the sky.

My he was a grumbly little creature. Torini knew she ought to really leave him be.. but it wasn't right to leave a little one all by his little self! Her den mother always went on about the dangers of being alone. Not that she really paid much heed to those warnings.

But that was beside the point.

The point was, that Beast shouldn't be alone. The point was, Beast needed to be with others. Even if he didn't want to be. Slowly, Torini began to inch her way along the grass towards Beast. She didn't want to startle him.

"Suuuuussaaaannn!" a muffled voice from a farther away. She knew that voice, it was her human's voice! A little girl peeked out from behind a tree, "Susan?" she was still farther off in the distance, but Susan would know that voice anywhere, semi-deaf or not she knew her human's voice. The human stayed away from the gryphs, not wanting to startle them.

I'm coming! she thought and let out a long bleat. It had been to long of a day and all of the fluffy critters around her scared her, but also caught her interest. She'd miss the soft ones, maybe one day she'd seen them again? She however would not miss the biting-thing.

She rushed toward her human's voice, sniffing along the ground as she stumbled clumsily. She didn't move very fast, but rushed all the same.

~ King of the Hill! ~

Laying down peacefully in the long grass, Jasmine was trying to catch some sleep after hardly having any during her last nap. A particular Gryph was trying to stop her from doing so, but luckily she had a chance to right now. Stretching a little and groaning, she was unaware of the other's play.

Reno, being a hyperactive Hippogryph cub, was crawling as quietly as he could to the blue Gryph. She was fun to annoy, especially during nap times. Once he was close enough, he lay on his side next to her and started batting gently at her out stretched paws, earning himself a growl. Mewling happily, he continued to bat at her, shuffling his small body close to get better aim.

Growling more, the blue Gryph started batting back, looking quite annoyed. Why wouldn't he leave her alone?

Not so far away as another small Gryph baby, trying to catch some sleep of his own. The noise wasn't helping much.

Growling to himself, he curled up into a small ball and placed his paws on his ears as much as he could to block out the noise.

Torini was prancing about in the field, circling her little Mushu 'friend'. She'd taken a shine to the little red gryph, and had decided he'd be sticking around. Besides, she'd not seen a den mother for him anyways.

Where did they sleep!?

... All thoughts aside, she was pretty content, not that she was ever really unhappy though. Turning a circle she plunked her butt down on the ground and looked across the way. Squinting, she hopped back up on her feet and nudged Mushu.

"Look! Chicks!" she grinned, grabbing up Mushu by the scruff and heading over towards Kuja. The flamboyant looking chick she recognized from her flock. Seen him ... her... at least once or twice about.

Oh... oh WOE is Mushu. There he was, NAPPING LIKE A GOOD LITTLE GRYPH... when that stupid pink fluff of a female was SNATCHING HIM UP... again! What was her problem!? She was going to be in for it when he could motivate himself to use better motor functions!

Having decided he'd rested quite enough, for the following few hours at least, Beast could be found not far away from where the three chick lay, making his way towards them. Or trying to anyway, for he'd noticed it was rather hard to go anywhere when one was mostly blind, and mostly deaf; he'd found it was easy to stumble over rocks, and trip over weeds as he half walked, half crawled, half dragged himself around the place.

Not nearly dignified enough, the small chick pondered, but then again, it wasn't like he could do anything about it either, thus so, he moved onward till... he ran head first into something which was none other than Kuja, thought of course... Beast knew none of this. All what he knew was that he'd run head first (or horn first?) into something or other, and it was blocking his way. Not only that! But it was precventing him from going any further.

Well, damn.

A growl of frustration rang through him and though he attempted to push lightly against Kuja, he soon enough snorted and decided that perhaps THIS spot wasn't all that bad, and thus allowed himself to plop down there.

Hey... There was that horned baby again... the funny lookin' one from when she'd been with Gaea. Dropping Mushu with a bit of a 'thud' noise, she tilted her head and trotted over as Beast's horns dug into Kuja's side. Reaching down she nudged for him to move to the side a bit, hoping to deter an impaling.

OW! What sort of express ride was that? Dropped on the ground like trash. He was the GREAT Mushu... stupid gryph girl. The nerve of her, treating him so poorly.

Snuffing around, Mushu began to crawl along the ground, nose up in the air, looking for any scent that wasn't that pink furred tornado. Catching a scent not to far away, he began to struggle his way in that direction, hoping to ferret and escape.

Who was this.... this someone that dared nudge him aside? Who dared nudge Beast aside from HIS route of choice? The chick lifted his head quite boldly to wards Torin, a frown of srot marring his allready strange features as he sniffed the air and snorted... sniffed and snorted; he seemed to repeat the action several times before he turned fully to face the older female.

Then though the was prone to stumbling, the young male attempted to pad over to her fiercely, almost as if attempting to scare her... however, it seemed not to work, for no sooner had he taken two steps that he stumbled forward, bumping against the female.

OOOOH! Curse these legs!

A grumble escaped his maw as he decided that perhaps... just perhaps, laying was a better option. Grumbling and angsting over his damned legs seemed to be a better idea idea tan trying to do anything with them at any rate.

Flicking her tail behind her a bit, Torini tilted her head as the ball of brown fluff bopped into her. Plunking down on the ground, she leaned her head down and snuffed at Beast once again.

"Hey, you alright?" she asked, although she was pretty sure she'd not get an answer.

For once, Torini decided against prodding the little one. Turning her head quickly to check on Mushu, she noticed Nirtz and Crik Kee were flying close to him, keeping an eye out. Satisfied he'd be alright, Torini let herself roll down onto her side, face to face with Beast.

"Hullo."

No, of course he wasn't 'okay'! He'd bumped into some.. thing whilst bravely journeying before! And not only that, but he'd later stumbled when trying to scare this larger female; of course he wasn't okay, and he tried to voice as much by grumbling under his breath, almost as if wishing someone... anyone for that matter, would understand him and what he had to 'say'.

Suddenly, Beast found himself maw to maw with the female, and letting out a gasp of surprise (needless to say it's easy to surprise someone whose blind), the lithe one attempted to recoil away from Torin, only managing to stumble backward, endding up tangled in one messy heap of cloak, fur and snarls; he'd allready decided today... was not his day either, and after several attempts to de-entangle himself, he simply lay there, hissing in annoyance.

No more than several seconds had passed than he let out a childish roar, much resembling a kitten-ish yowl, a direct order for Torin to pick him up, set him upright and de-entangle himself.

Wow.

This was was as noisy and cranky, if not moreso than Mushu!

(Mushu grumbles for no apparent reason on his trek)

Blinking as Beast growled and whined at her for help, she grinned, standing back up once more and toddled over to him. Leaning down, she pushed her nose against the cloak, moving it a bit, hunting for the scruff of his neck. She did find it there, those clothes were annoying!

"Up we go!" she grabbed onto his scruff gently, lifting him into the air.

And up indeed they go! Beast suddenly found himself dangling in mid air; something he'd not experienced before, and tell truth, though new... not really that unwelcome, for he'd found his body curled up instinctively, his trashing having stopped the moment the female took a hold of his neck.

My, my, what strange sensations...

A thrill rang through the chick as he sniffled the air about him; he was so high up! (mind you, 'high up' withing Beast's mind was simply a few centimeters off the ground, since he'd been stumbling for his very short life and had never truly stood taller than now) Not only that, but he'd found he really liked the feel of being on top of things. Yes... very nice indeed.

Hey! It calmed down. Grinning she let herself roll onto her back setting the chick down on her belly as she did. There. Now he could be king of the castle!

Chicks were so cute. Her tail swooshed back and forth as she let her legs stretch out, clawed toes wiggling in the air. Torini liked coming to the fields, there was always something or someone to see around.

~ Befriending the Beast ~

Yawning lightly, Torini looked up from behind the tree she'd been resting under. Having lost track of Mushu (he was off on some other adventure) she tilted her head as she heard something causing the grass to thrush about.

Peeking her head out from behind the tree, she was shocked to see a familar looking, cranky, fussy Beast jumping through the fields... and after bugs! Grinning from ear to ear, she began to scuttle towads Beast.

Oh, this was too rich.

Bugs here, bugs there! Oh good GOD this was heaven!

As the Beast ran along, he'd open his maw, catching unwary insects within, having absolutely no trouble licking his chomps, passing his tongue over his large protuding teeth; there was no doubt he'd have kept on going had something... not alerted him that someone was infact there, watching him.

Perhaps it was the scent int he winds, or perhaps it was the feel of being watched; whatever the cause, the male's eyes widened as he came to hault, sinking claws into the damp earth bellow wilst looking about wildly.

Someone.... someone...

But where?

It was then his eyes fell upon Torini's form, her pink hues standing out against the grass, and swiftly, the Beast's ears flattened back, his leer almost acusing her of doing some harm beyond words, "Go away! This is MY grass! And my bugs too!" he yelled from his spot; it wasn't true they were his, none in the least... but what harm was there in trying? Perhaps she'd leave?

"It's not yours!" She laughed, "I've been here since before you were likely born." she grinned and trotted over to Beast, sitting herself about a foot away, she'd let him keep some space.

"I remember you. We played King of the Castle!" she grinned, "I think you won that." her tail thumped back and forth, she liked meeting up with people she'd seen before. Even if they were crotchety.

A frown creased his features as the female neared him, the Beast taking a mere step back before he turned to glare at a poor innocent rock that stood to his side, "Well it's MY grass now..." he mumbled slightly under his breath, his gaze sneaking a leer towards her before he snorted, sneered and lifted his head in the air.

THat is, till a grasshoper jumped and landed on his nose, startling the male out of his dignified pose and efficiently making him gasp and stumble back... endding up seated in quite the sprawled out fashion as the bug jumped away from his nose again.

Stupid thing... look what it'd done!

Swiftly aiming a glare towards Torini, the male grumbled, "I don't remember any of that!" ooooh, but he did. Her scent had been recognised no sooner had she seated herself before him, and it made it all the more difficult to keep his frown and his leer straight and aimed at her; thus, instead, he aimed it at the poor rock by his side.

It's all IT'S fault, no doubt, stupid rock!

Torini managed to surpress the giggle fit that had been about to fly out of her as Beast became started by the little green bug. Getting back up on her feet, she just shook her head and meandered over to his side.

"Aww, you don't remember? That's sad. I think it was fun." she sat rather still next to him. She didn't want to startle him again.

"Grasshopers." she said suddenly, "Come out of nowhere. Yup. They're bad for that. Horrible little things." she chuckled as she noticed Nirtz flying about.

"Horseflies are much better. Mmhmm. Not as good for chasing around though. My favourites to chase are butterflies. They're a bit bigger than Grasshopers, but they can fly about and have really pretty wing colours... kinda like the horseflies." she beamed.

"Sad?" his eyes followed the route up to her own, almost instinctively, for after all, despite the gruff attitude, Beast was young, "Why would THAT be sad?" the frown still marred his features, however, then again... it wasn't like it usually didn't, and thus, the older female was no doubt used to it by now, "Besides, stop your whinning, I DO remember you..."

A pause followed as he looked away, ears flattening, then one perking up to face her, "Kinda anyhow..."

As Torini rambled on, the male's features melted into confussion, a brow slowly arching up in honst question as his head tilted to one side; he simply couldn't, for the life of him, understand WHAT she was doing, sitting there and talking to him. He'd been rude, and yet, she didn't seem to mind, and was instead, trying to engage conversation with him; he truly could not understand the basis from which she was acting, and thus all he could do, was stare up at her blankly.

It was, however, a completely diferent expression from that which he usually wore; a point in Torin's favour at least.

"Sad because it just seems that way when you don't remember someone." her normally high energy voice had softened a bit, she was speaking more quietly, turning her head back to Beast.

"Well then, at least you remember me. That's good to know. I like to think I'm hard to forget." she giggled.

Noting the blank stare on his face, Torini laughed nervously then got up, padding the ground with her paws and turning a circle. Flicking her tail back she blew a piece of grass from off her muzzle.

The little guy didn't seem so bad. Nope. A bit cranky, yah, but he wasn't completely beyond hope. Torini was bound and determined to befriend the littler Gryph. Everyone needed at least a friend or two. She didn't mind the rude behaviour really either....

She was used to Mushu.

"So, what's your name?"

Needless to say, the male was beyond confussed, to a point he actually looked around, as if rying to find help in the grass, rocks and insects about... however, they had none to offer and he merely managed to return his gaze and stare blankly at her. WHY was she TALKING to him? The question still rung across his head, making the small gryph's head tilt this way and that. He truly could not make two and two out of it.

"Huh?" he managed quite eloquently, his brows furrowing slightly, "Oh!" shaking himself, the male bristled slightly and turned to aim a glare at Torin as she settled down again, "It's Beast..." his glare was obviously almost daring her to make fun of it, or otherwise say anything against his name being such, for he seemed almost ready to pounce her in self defense.

Puffing himself up slightly, he attempted to look... slightly bigger than he truly was; not like there was any much need, really, what with the fact he was allready bigger than most chicks his age.

"Well, that's a nice name." she grinned, "I'm Torini. It's nice to meet you Beast." She didn't feel any need to poke fun at his name. Seriously, her horsefly's name was 'Nirtz'. Not exactly the most sofisticated sounding of names.

Watching Beast puff up, she shook her head, "No need to get yourself all up into a huff, I'm not going to do anything." she bent her head down so that her muzzle was ever so close to touching his, just slightly out of reach.

"So. Where y'from?"

Deflating slightly, the male frowned for a few moments, directing his partial aner at the ground, seeing as how Torin wasn't really... doing anything to allow him to direct his anger towards her personally. He'd found that such a fact was quite frustrating indeed, for not only could he not make a random smartassed comment and leave, but... he'd noticed he didn't truly want to shun such a company.

It wasn't usually others approached him the way she'd done, and thus, after all, it was a new experience on the whole.

"I'm not huffing! I'm... just... wary," Beast liked the sound of that, yet it wasn't as eloquent as he'd have wished it to, "I come from Kingdom hearts," a long pause followed, after which he added, "The flock," almost as if to try and explain that this kingdom heart he spoke of, wasn't particularly a place, "What about you?"

Glad that Beast seemed to be opening up to her, if only a bit, Torini smiled and he spoke. Pondering this 'kingdom hearts' she nodded suddenly.

"Oh, that's where Mushu is from." she giggled, "I'm from the East flock myself." she stretched her back, then began to settle down on her belly in the grass.

"It's nice there, in our territory, but I much prefer coming here, there's always interesting people to meet, and lots of things to do." Her horsefly, Nirtz, came and flittered down, landing closer to where Beast was sitting. He flickered his wings around for a moment, looking between Beast and Torini, then settled down and nuzzled into the grass himself.

"Mushu..." the Beast tasted the name on his tongue, then nodded slightly, "Ah... I've seen him around I think; strange little dragon," the words were breathed out, more fo his own benefit than hers, for the sound was hushed, nearly whispered. Slowly, he snapped out of his thinking and looked back up at her, "Right. East."

Unlike Torin, the male did not truly and entirely relax down, but rather, kept himself partially on edge, sitting down a good half a meter away from her; it was clear he was ready to either bolt or attack at a minimal need to, his fight or flee instincts no doubt commanding such actions. However, at the same time, he seemed to be doing his best to both hide this and calm himself down, a bristle or two showing here and there, "Here... there are strange people," his ears swiftly flickered back as he grumped slightly, "I don't like people. THey're pushy, and shovy, and they bite."

Of course, he might've grown, but the Beast had not fogotten his few encounters with others.... there were few that he'd found enjoyable, really.

As the horsefly settled down, however, his eyes strayed from the female and downward, his gaze following the bug till he actted on pure instinct and slashed his front paws down, no dount attempting to catch the horsefly, as his instincts demanded he dod; he was, after all, hungry.

"Ahh... yah the wooly one." Torini nodded, recalling when Susan had bitten beast, "I remember that." she turned her head to watch both Beast and Nirtz.

Uh oh.

Nirtz squeaked and squaked at Beast, flying just out of reach. That wasn't very nice! Flying up overhead, Nirtz quickly made his way over to Torini, nestling on her head and continuing to squeak down at Beast.

"Hmm.. don't think that's a good game to be playing with this little guy." Torini laughed a bit, hiding the relief in her voice that the poor bug hadn't been sliced and diced for afternoons snacks.

~ I swear... it's gotta be Sugar Cane ~

Wandering around the central plains, Torini flicked her head back and let the wind catch in her wings. Grinning, the soft feathers flew out behind her, one letting loose from where it lay and spiraling backwards...

Then smacking a certain, small, red gryph straight in the face.

"HEY!" a small, annoyed voice yelled up, "Watch where you're molting woman. Don't you know that people can get hurt out here?" Mushu huffed and snorted in agitation, pulling the feather from over his eyes, sending it over to the ground.

"Oh Mushu, you're fine." Torini laughed, "C'mon, let's go find some people."

"Please stop talking..."

"And then, the sun looked down and said 'Hello there!' because it was a good day, and you know, clouds are the sun's best friend, because they-"

"Please stop talking..." at this point, the Beast groaned and pondered sticking his head under the water of the river that lay to his left; that way he'd perhaps be able to drown this girl's voice. What was wrong with her anyhow? she'd been following him on a random basis for two whole days; how she managed to find him time and time again when she was obviously not exactly 'sane' was beyond the male. All he knew was that she wanted her to please, PLEASE stop talking.

Ryuki however, seemed oblivious to the smaller gryph's pleas, and kept right on going; sitting down sprawled, the female was making sure to flap her wings now and then, "Pop goes the weaseeeeeel~~!" she sang songed loudly, her small tail thumping the ground bellow her.

Strangely familliar voices caught his ears though and it was then the Beast raised his head from the ground, where he'd had it for the past hour, paws covering it, "PLEASE stop TALKING!" the words were by now roared and though they did little to nothing to hinder the cheshire-gryph's sing songing, they were no doubt heard by Torin and Mushu.

Stopping dead in his tracks, Mushu blanched, "MONSTER! MOOOOONNNSSTTTERR!" he cried out as the roar passed over the plains.

Torini suddenly felt something latched onto her leg. "Hey!" she looked down, "Mushu!" sighing she shook her head.

"Mushu it's not a monster..." she turned her head, squinting in the direction the voice came from, "It's... Beast... and some...one I dunno." she shrugged.

"Guess she hasn't learned that yapping his ear off doesn't work." she giggled and looked back down at Mushu. "You can let go now."

"Eheh.. yah... Uh... I was just makin' sure you were gonna be alright." Torini snorted and rolled her eyes as Mushu let go of her leg and fell into step with her as they began to make their way towards the odd pair.

"No, no, no, the weasel never said 'please stop talking', it just went POP!" came the cheerful chrip; not only was it obvious Ryuki lacked the ability to be frightened by such trivial things as roaring, but it was obvious she was less than moved by the odd looking gryph beside her. But then again, that might just be because she was perhaps... even further odd than he was.

"UGGGGGGH!" allowing his eyes to roll back, the Beast did all what he could do... which was simply falling backward in a bit of a melodramatic fit; if she didn't stop right about now, he feared he too was going to go slightly insane. Hissing under his breath, he placed clawed paws over his ears, covering them in an attempt to block out the purple cheshire's words, which not only made no sense to him, but were pure and random babble.

The insanity he was being put through! this was no doubt a test from the gods.

As Mushu and Torin drew nearer however, Ryuki's maw closed shut, her pink eyes focussing on the newcomers before a grin spread across her face, "Hey! Hey!" she chirped as she suddenly stood up and practically ran towards them, launching herself into the air in an attempt to tackle down the red gryph, "Heeeey!!"

"Oh, please DO take her," the Beast's voice held an almost pleading tone, quite out of character for him, but he felt he was going to go insane if he spent so much as one more minute by the strange female, "She's all yours, really. For free."

"Do you really think we ought to be going over theEEEEEEAAAHHHH!!!!" Mushu yelled out as he found himself with a larger, and very purple, female gryph on him.

A bit dazed, for onces, Mushu didn't say much of anything except for the fact that he simply stared at Ryuki.

Wondering why Beast was making such pleas, Torini quickly realized it as a zip moved passed her head and landed on her little companion. The two horseflies which had been following the pair sort of, floated there, not sure what to do.

"Uh..." Torini turned to look at Beast, offering an awkward, sympathetic grin.

"Helloooooo~~" the female's voice had a clear sing song tone as she moved her head left and right to what seemed to be... a rythm only she could hear, "Who areeeee you? You have horns! I want horns too, can I have yours?" amusingly enough after this had been said, Ryuki closed her mouth and simply lay there, partially on top of the younger gryph, her nose against his, tail wagging much like that of a hyper active puppy.

The beast on the other hand merely offered Torin a blunt expression, a brow arching; there was no need for him to explain anything, was there? Ryuki had allready done so herself, in her own strange way of talking, "You can't blame me," he said with a slight snort before he rolled his eyes and looked away; oh, he DID pity Mushu, but damned if he was going to expose himself... to THAT purple whirlwind to do so. He'd seriously rather toss himself into a pit full of vicious monsters.

At least he knew how to fight those. Ryuki was something beyond him, "Keep her. Really."

A pause from the cheshire female, "I'm not for sale," she said suddenly, looking blankly up, quite confussed.

"You are now."

"Oh.... okay!" came the chirp, "I'll be a fruit then! They sell nicely I'm sure! Or PIE! Who doesn't like pie?" a groan, obviously produced by the beast, followed Ryuki's words.

"Uh... no. You can't have my horns. See, as you can very well see... they are attached to my SKULL!" Mushu flailed from beneath Ryuki.

"Get, offa... ME!" he huffed out. This was not how he had pictured his day going.

"Eheh. Somehow I don't think it would matter if we bought her or not..." Torini wandered over and sat down next to Beast, watching Mushu flip out at the purple gryph girl.

Well, maybe he'd wear himself out and go to sleep. She'd liked him better when he was small.

He didn't talk so much then.

"May...be..." Wish yawned and let herself roll up to TrueHeart's side. Snuggling against the larger gryph's warm fur she just gave a half nod, and slowly let herself drift off to sleep. Dreaming of horseflies and a day when Grumpy would be less like his namesake.
