Yeah! I bought a telescope! It's exactly like this one---

The Orion SpaceProbe 130mm (5.1") short tube reflector telescope

I brought it outside the other night when we had some nice clear weather here and looked at Saturn. It was beautiful and golden with bluish-white rings. I could also see 2 of Saturn's moons; Titan and Rhea.

Pictures are great, but if you or someone you know has a telescope you should try checking out Saturn. It's in the western sky in the constellation Cancer, right next to the Beehive cluster.

OMG!!! It's beautiful heart

I'm gonna have to invest in one sometime soon, so far I've just been asking the neighbors to use their telescope.

Which is pretty neat, has this little filter that allows you to view the sun, it's amazing how the sun looks through the assistance of a telescope, truly marvelous.

But yeah, I need to stop pestering them.

You should see this one website, www.slooh.com, it uses a client that allows you to use a semi-professional telescope to explore the cosmos from the comfort of your own computer. Unfortunately they ask that you pay up to use their telescopes.

Jason listened to her intently, not interrupting her once while she told him what her curse was. "Trust me, my mouth is sealed." He looked her in the eye when she finished. "That's brutal..." Jason rand a hand through his hair and sighed, looking out on the ocean and actually feeling a little sad. So, she couldn't feel love, like, at all? That piece of information caused Jason to lay back down on the sand and cross his arms on his chest, frowning. "Catastrophic? So, what, the person you want to love has to get hurt really bad or something for you to finally love them back?" Jason's brain was rolling as he tried to come up with ideas as to what he could do to help. "I'm gonna help you, no matter what, you're not getting rid of me." He gave her a sad smile and turned back to air, where he was looking at birds flying.

You can see the sunspots and the granulations, but no flares.

Unless of course at the time I viewed the sun I so happened to stumble on an extremely dull sun, I'm not sure about that though.

Overall it was still pretty neat.

Wow that's very nice. I have a stupid telescope that doesn't work well. I really wish I had a better location at night to go to try to use it (my house is surrounded by streetlights cry ).

The weather here certainly hasn't been cooperating... I've only had a chance to use it a few times so far. I'm going to try viewing Jupiter later tonight if the haze clears out.

Speaking of telescopes, what would be a good one for a beginner? I'm meaning to get me one for Christmas. sweatdrop

try looking for a newtonian with about a 3" Mirror, they can be had for pretty cheaply (about 100$) and will give you halfway decent capabilities

I'll keep that in mind. 3nodding
I found a pretty good one off of Telescopes.com:
Meade 70AZ-AR Altazimuth Refractor
This one isn't a Newtonian, but it's decent for a beginner and in my price range. I'm not sure if I should get this one or not yet.
