Zim surveyed the nearby grassland with a critical eye, pausing now and then to "Hrmm" and grunt thoughtfully. WHAT he was staring at was anyone's guess, really, as the addled green chick didn't seem to be looking at anything in particular.

But whatever he was not looking at, he was doing it with terrible concentration and thoroughness.

Tak sat nearby, attempting to graze on some fallen berries, though she noticeably cringed whenever Zim made one of his thoughtful noises. Was he TRYING to be annoying, she wondered? But, then....no. No, he couldn't be. Because anything Zim tried at, he ultimately also failed at.

Ergo, he must have been doing it unintentionally, but that did not, in fact, make it any LESS annoying.

At last, she could take it no more and whipped her head in his direction, her thickly-lashed violet eyes narrowed in hatred.

"WHAT are you doing?" she demanded.

Whatever ponderous nirvana Zim had lapsed into was broken by the gratey she-devil voice behind him. That hideous maggot-troll. Urggh....WHY did she have to have a face?

"SILENCE!!" he commanded, turning to point one claw at Tak. "You cannot hope to even BEGIN to understand the awesome powers of my mind!"
PostPosted: Mon May 15, 2006 4:11 am

"The awesome powers of your mind involve standing there like a buffoon and making noises like a Zarblax in heat?" she growled. The day he fulfilled his dreams of becoming the alpha of this flock would be the day she sat out in the sun until she was crow food. NOT while she had something to say about it.

Not many chicks were as bitter as Tak, but then not many had to tolerate such fatal amounts of stupidity from a single source either.

"ISAIDBEQUIET!" he barked, whirling sharply to resume his scanning of the landscape. Foolish girlbeast, he had far more important things to do than to argue the functionality of his amazing brain and the trainwreck of her own.

Any fool could see what he was doing -- he was seeking new recruits. A fleet was nothing without its numbers and his own....well....his own were a bit lacking at the moment.

Some would say that fate was a cruel mistress with an even crueller sense of humor. Today that would hold true for a small little chick that had been lovingly dubbed by his mother as Priprikan.

A nameless denmother strode into the clearing, eyeing the other chicks that had been deposited here briefly before gently setting the bluejay-marked youngling down, giving him an affectionate nuzzle before trotting back to her adult companions.

Priprikan laid still for a time, his tiny nostrils quivering on the balmy afternoon air as he tried to make sense of his surroundings. Lack of sight and hearing, of course, made that rather difficult. He had only touch and scents to identify with, and so far this place lacked any of familiarity.

He began to grunt and squirm, pulling himself clumsily through the grass. When, after a moment, he did not find the warmth of his mother or one of the denmothers, he gave a squeal of alarm.

Zim did not immediately notice the new chick's arrival as he had been too busy surveying other candidates for involvement with his flock. There could be only the best of the best, after all...

"Too fat!" he loudly announced, pointing at one of the babies accusingly. "Too ugly!" he voiced, pointing at another. "Too...ahh....asymmetrical!"

"Asymmetrical??" Tak snarled, glaring daggers at him. Now he was just LOOKING for reasons to yell things. Lowering her head, Tak charged at him in a fit of angered frustration, her brow meeting his rump squarely and sending Zim toppling forward like a very odd little green power-hungry boulder.

Zim wailed his indignation as he fell a**-over-applecart, landing in a green heap from which he slowly disentangled himself.

"WHEN THE RATS COME, I'LL SEE TO IT THAT THEY DEVOUR YOUR ENTRAILS SLOWLY!!!" he cursed over his shoulder at Tak, shaking one pudgy little paw balled into a semblance of a fist.

Looking back, Zim found himself nearly nose-to-nose with a small little blue chick and narrowed his eyes. "What're you looking at??" he demanded.

Let it not be said that there were no benefits whatsoever to infantile blind/deafness. Priprikan was happily unaware of all of the yelling -- something that surely the older gryphs nearby envied him for.

He snuffled at the strange presense in front of him and wrinkled his nose in distaste. Whoever or whatever it was smelled acrid and a bit like lizards...

Inhaling a tiny breath, the chick sneezed. "Choof!"

"Hmm...." Zim said again thoughtfully, chick saliva having misted on his muzzle. "You there!" he said authoritatively, pointing at the blind chick. "My flock is in need of warm bodies and YOUR body does look indeed warm!"

Priprikan nuzzled the grass, finding one blade in particular and wrapping his toothless lips around it, gumming it haphazardly as Zim spoke. He wondered where his mother was....he was getting hungry and the sun was beginning to burn a bit.

Plus that odd smell was still present and unsettling him.

"You will be delighted to know that I have chosen you as a representative of the Irken Empire." Zim went on, beginning to pace back and forth in front of the chick, seeming mindless that he was unable to see or hear his ramblings as he held his head high and strutted his puny authority.

Turning to look down his nose at Priprikan, he announced "You shall pledge your allegiance to me!" Clenching a fist and lowering his voice, he growled "Do it nowww...."
PostPosted: Tue May 16, 2006 12:47 am

Priprikan lost the blade of grass he'd been gumming to death and hefted himself up on his tiny legs, snuffling at the air pitifully. Where WAS mother...?

Inhaling, he gave a soft squeal that, back at the cliffs, successfully alerted the others that he wished to be fed.

"Zim, WHAT are you doing??" Tak demanded, noting that despite the fact he was now further away, he was still producing copious amounts of squeaky annoyance that the little jerk called a voice. And what the hell was he hassling down there? It looked like a blue ball of pudding.
