I made this quite a long time ago, around when the movie first came out in theaters. It's based off of pretty much every other V poster out there, but I don't really care. Made in Painter IX with my pentablet.

The actual image is about 36" wide, 300 dpi. 3nodding heart

Also, please don't steal this or post it around anywhere else, as that would be stealing my bandwidth. Kthx.

Well looking at your page it seems like you're very font of using fotoparts.
However, i think the colorscheme you used for this one is a good one - as painter colors are always great - but I also think that things would match better if you copletely overpainted him - cause now styles are looking still kinda mixed.

Fond of using pieces of photos, you mean? I don't do photomanipulation. I always feel kind of mixed feelings inside when people make this remark about my works, honestly. On one hand, I'm flattered in that my paintings can look realistic enough to be confused as a photo. On the other hand, I also feel offended, as many people assume I USED photos to make the image, or in rather, I did not create the image entirely myself.

I don't know exactly what you mean by overpainting him, as I merely looked at the propaganda posters of him this pose was based off of and did not place them directly into the image. Keep in mind what I have posted here is basically what is allowed by Gaia's standards. If I were to post the actual image of him here, you'd have a 36 inch wide image that the vast, vast majority of monitors would not be able to handle. (That's the dimension of a typical movie poster sold in the U.S., longest-length wise.)

Big V face. It's a shame Tinypic breaks down the image quality, though red does not compress well in jpg in the first place.

As far as the rest of my works, there are no photos used in those, either. 3nodding heart

Amazing work. She's right, it does look like the poster. But I'm just chalking that up to you being a great artist.

The texture... just... I want to touch it.

Well I am mainly pointing out that you're using photos for reference.
And even if you're overpainting them I will not be hunting you down for this because no matter how you're creating your works, they wouldn't look that great if you wouldn't have the ability to paint wink
And don't worry, I have enough experience to see were which kind of reference was used and sadly I can still clearly see that his hands are not painted. - BTW, they are a bit too small compared to his head.

Azu, front shot, hat + wig on top of head or perhaps hair + mask larger than face. It might be a perception flaw that looks weird even when done properly or in this case making the head seem too large which throws off other proportions.

Sometimes I look at my arm when I'm laying down.. Perspective does some funny things.

These kinds of pictures don't really impress me much even if they were done entirely by the artist.

I like to see something new and undone prior regardless of quality.

Regardless if it's unique or not, the pasted hands still are too small, and that imho looks strange on a painting that's painting in such a realistic way like this.

Besides that here something about perspective and reality. Perspective will always work in all ways - even the strangest ones - while shown on a photo. Because the eye always accepts what's shown there without any question. But a painting can never archieve this absolute level of reality, and so it's important to do on a paintin what works on a painting which also means to deliver hands that seem to be correct in size wink
