be like jimbo, buy and upright! any horton heat fans out there?

and i would definently buy one locally, but read up on it on the net. and don't forget that it is usually called a double bass, and sometimes called a standup bass, bass fiddle, bass viol, contrabass viol, bass violin, doghouse bass, dog-house, bull fiddle, hoss bass, or bunkhouse bass.

Read up on the wiki

Stand-up bass is really fun, if you don't mind the thicker strings and wider note areas, as well as the lack of frets. Whats really fun to do is to stand on the thing while playing a solo. Or to have your guitarist stand on it while HE solos and you play it at the same time. My friend's band did it all the time.

Wtf!? o_O standing on the upright bass!? I've been playing Upright Bass for quite a while and frankly I dont think the needle could stand that much weight eek How is this done!?

Oh, and I would probably give up your plans for an Upright Bass unless you have somewhere way over 1k. Those things are damn expensive 3nodding

I've wanted an upright bass ever since I first saw the video for Straycats - Rock This Town.

Since then, I've seen a lot of them. If you find any good deals online, post them or something. I'm too lazy to look them up. XD (And too poor, but... uh... yeah)
