Hey all. Need a little advice on bass amps, seeing as how i know absolutely nothing about them. . .

No, not for me. Calm down.

"My bassist", i.e., my friend with whom i WILL be forming a band, needs a larger bass amp to be able to cut through the mix/drums, and unfortunately I'm not sure what a good amount of wattage is, and neither is she.

Soooo I'm looking for the best bang fo your buck amp wise, preferable pretty cheap, as in 200-400 USD. And 400 is probably pushing it confused

WTF? this link sends me to Gary Null's Natural Guide to Living. Maybe he will buy you a new amp.

EDIT: I copied and pasted the link to get to the product. Wow, great paint job!

Best bet would be to look either look used (on the evilBay) or blemished on the music websites, get you the most amp for your money. I would recommend (both used) an Ashdown MAG300 and an Avatar 1x15 cab.

Where are you located? I have an excellent-sounding, LOUD Trace-Elliot Bass amp that I'd like to sell. It was $900 new, and I'd part with it for $400. It's a kick-a** amp! I'd love to see it go to a good home. I live in the Bay Area.

If you don't mind going for used merch, I recomend SWR or Ampeg. If you need something new, go Behringher. But beware: if you break something on a Behringer, it's a b***h to get it fixed, we're talking damn near impossible. Go for a used Ampeg if you have ANY opportunity to.
As for wattage, I recommend at least 300w, upwards of 450 with the Behringer.

I've played on a Ampeg bass combo already and I think it's pretty expensive for the sound and noise it makes. I played on an Ampeg 200W and a Randall 100W and the Randall was louder than the Ampeg, Ampeg has good amplifiers but you need to look between the better onces and so the more expensive ones.

I wouldn't go with a Randall amplifier also; the prize is resonable but your sound quality decreases a lot when you turn the volume up.

SWR has really nice sound quality from those I've heard already

If you could fetch a used Hartke amplifier those are pretty nice too
