Actually, it's more me ranting about how I like our cavies director better than the new one.
Phillip (old director)-About him. He's with the Cavaliers and he's been with our guard for almost four seasons. He's really good at writing flag, dance, and weapon work. And he's a good tech. But also, he's a good director in general. He knows when to be mean and when not to be mean. He's a good motivator. I know I do better because of him.
Julie (new director) - About her. Never was with a drum corps. Just came this season. Her dance work involves a lot of hands and arms. Not much footwork. She's no good on flag or weapon. Yet, she's writing our whole show. She's a good tech. but she's not a good director. She gives up if we don't do what she tells us and she's all fun no work...
Personally, I like Phillip as a director better. And he's afraid to get shoved to the background. (He and I talk a lot, BTW). And I know I'd rather be on his weaponline that on hers. And on his guard, not hers. We'd be ten times better if he would write the work and be able to overstep the bounds that have been put in front of him because of Julie.
Besides, if they do get rid of him, I quit.

wow. that sucks. i've had three different directors...two on my first year, and my current one. i liked nikki (my older one) a little bit better than my new one. but only because she actually spent a little one on one time with someone if they needed it. but otherwise, the new one is great. smile we've been doing a lot better (as a guard) the last two years. so it all works out...
