I starting FURTHER talking to my family about global warming, and then they all totally blew me off because they said god will take care of things and man will get its just disserves. Well, I'm sorry, but that really teed me off. I fully respect them and support that fact that they have a religion, but is it right to just ignore this problem, and let the world suffer for man's sins...? What justice is there in us sitting back, to live the rest of our remaining years fitfully, when others are suffering...?

Is ignorance truly bliss? Can people really do that with a clear mind...?

(Lastly, I am not FLAMING or trying to insult anyone who has a god, I'm just confused as to how some people - my dads side of the family - can live like that)

Help?

If god was taking care of it, why hasn't it happened yet?

I know, or my dad's side of the family who are Gehovah Witnesses! They are always pressuring me to "join" so I won't go to hell, but as far as I'm concerned if I want good things to happen in my life, then its the people, not some god, that will have to make the right choices that sculpt the future.

People are naive. God trusted us to look after the world, he isn't just sat there watching and then gonna go "Oh noes! I'll make it all better" *magic wand*

Brilliant 3nodding another very good point. I only know a few lutherans who believe god has given them just that special role. If only there could be more like them.

There's only so much carbon dioxide He can convert into oxygen with people cutting down all of the trees and over-populating. (One of the causes of global warming I hear is that there is too much carbon dioxide in the air, and it's trapping sun rays into Earth's atmosphere, causing the over-all temperature to rise. Though I could be wrong. sweatdrop )

It's a little more complicated and I'm not sure this is entirely right but it is something like this:

When fossil fuels are burnt they give off carbon dioxide and 'heavy' oxygen. A normal oxygen is 2 atoms joined together, heavy is 3. This raises into the atmosphere and damages the ozone layer and also traps sun rays from escaping.

No, you happen to be very right. The CO2 level is so high now, that it's getting to the point where plants can't keep up with it. It doesn't help that we cut down the trees.

...something to that effect. Honestly, I need to read up a bit more on it, so that if any more quetions are asked, I can help answer them.

*nods* I'm not saying don't believe or do believe in gods or a God, I'm just saying that whether you do or not, you can't use religion as a crutch and a reason to ignore the world around you as it quite literally burns up.

Hey, I can comprehend what you're saying. That was just an easy excuse they threw at you just there. They just didn't want to listen. I'm a Christian and sometimes it's easy to just say well God will provide if we pray. If everyone did that, nothing would get done. The sad fact is God does work through people. Lazy people sometimes. Lazy people who don't want to step up and sacrifice in the name of God and morality. They keep on expecting the new heaven to come down right out of the sky any day now, but what they don't realize is that things are getting worse every day. On the day of reckoning, I'd at least want to be able to say I tried to preserve his paradise. crying . It makes me sad to see all of his wonders being destroyed before my eyes.
