just another warning, do NOT look at the following questions unless you
A) have read the book abhorsen (and prefferably sabriel and liarel)
OR
B) you are the type of person who likes spoilers (in which case I pity you)
Last chance to just turn away, just go back to the guild and do something else, make a topic, RP a bit, you can have lots of fun without spoilers
question 1: was chlorr of the mask an abhorsen? I seem to recall mogget saying "She was an overly cautious person even when she was an a- alive." or something to that effect. Are we ever given evidence to back this up or are we (the readers) just supposed to speculate
question 2: was yrael originally on the destroyers side? I get the impression he was the eighth great... thing, but I can't be sure. If he wasn't why did the destroyer expect him to help him/just stand by and watch as he won.

I don't think Chlorr was an Abhorsen, because she was Walked beyond the Seventh Gate by Sabriel, and that was what killed her, and since the previous Abhorsen was actually Terciel, then Chlorr can't have been an Abhorsen.
And no, Yrael wasn't on the Destroyer's side. He didn't want to be on any side, but the Seven bound him up. crying Poor Yrael. Anyway. Orannis thought that Yrael would surely turn against the Seven who turned him into a cat, but when he worked with them instead, he was a bit disappointed.

Asatran? Adiemus? How am I supposed to know? I'm just deducing what I can. Sabriel said that Chlorr was killed because she was Walked beyond the Seventh Gate by Sabriel, which means that Chlorr was alive when she first faced the Abhorsen. Since the Abhorsen-in-Waiting cannot become true Abhorsens until the current one is dead, it stands to reason that Terciel would not have become Abhorsen until after Chlorr was dead, ergo, Sabriel would not be the Abhorsen either, thusly, we must assume that Chlorr was not an Abhorsen. Get it? Got it? Good.

I believe she was, since the book says that she has very detailed knowledge of the Abhorsens. I think that she gave up being an abhorsen at some part in her life since and she left the family. And chlorr is very very very very very old according to the book since i believe it also hints that she was around before the fall of the kingdom.

Oh wait, Free Magic users and necromancers can extend their life spans, can't they?
