I posted this in my own guild, but I thought it would be cool to post it here as well. 3nodding

Afterall, the menstrual cycle is part of womanhood, right? razz

So I have this subscription to Cosmo Girl magazine (I'm definately getting too old for it, so I'll make a subscription to a new one when this subscription ends) and I actually find an interesting article for once.

It's called Super Cycle!, a guide to being at your best through each phase of the menstrual cycle.

Week 1 starts the day your period does. This week, you're slow-moving and have trouble making decisions because estrogen and testosterone are at a low, making you feel zapped. To maximize your mood, put off any drastic decision-making and re-energize yourself by taking frequent naps.

Week 2 is the week after your period starts (week 1 started on a Tuesday, so week 2 starts on the next Tuesday). You're at your best this week, being sharp, witty, confident, and filled with -a ton- of energy. Estrogen and testosterone are at their highest level. Schedule intense activites this week such as the SAT if possible as well as exercise classes, performances, etc. Make sure to keep a busy schedule so that you won't become bored. Nothing to do? Clean out that stuffed closet of yours and give the clothes to the Salvation Army. Try out a new exercise. Seach the city for exciting events!

Week 3 is a time to chill out and relax and maybe even take some alone time, being that you feel self-protective. After ovulation comes, progesterone fills your body, making you feel more cautious. Have long conversations with someone. Take a relaxing bath. Meditate a bit. Put on some mellow music. Pamper yourself like a goddess.

Week 4 makes you intuitive, creative, and introspective about your feelings. The drop in testosterone has you thinking with your right brain.. Estrogen and progesterone are also at their low points, making you quite the moody girl. This is a time to paint a picture, write a poem, or work on that novel you've been brain-storming. Make a scrap-book. Sew a pillow. Or read a book! Relax and let the mood swings paint their way through whatever creation your feminine side takes you.

* * * * * * * * * *

Now, I know that ever woman's cycle is different. and a lot of times, you can't even calculate it! Adjust what you need and if you can and make the most of it. 3nodding

I don't know about that, but I feel like I've been in Week 1 for a month at least

that article seems kinda silly to me..

heres my cycle in a nutshell:

week 1: nothing
week 2: nothing
week 3: boobs sore
week 4: boobs really sore, a lot of heavy bleeding and pain for 3 days, bloodflow for 8 days

repeat!

i dont think i ever get more intuitive or anything

What can I say, I believe all women should celebrate their menstrual cycle and use it to their utmost power.

Hell yeah! Except for the being rid of part. But if I was rid of it, you know.

And personally, I wouldn't trust Cosmo Girl for that kinda information. It's a preteen fashion mag, not a medical journal.

You and your goddam political correctedness! scream

So what if it didn't come from a medical journal. It's just tips on what to do when you're menstruating! stressed

Political correctness...? Naw, I'm just looking for plain correctness.

I was exaggerating when I said medical journal, but it's irritating to have to doubt and factcheck after reading an article.

Huh? lol

Bah, I posted this back when I wasn't as . . . I don't know, critical of what I read. I still tend to be naive with a love of things, though. If something amazes me and falls to my liking, I'll probably believe it.

But that's me, and what can you do about it.

Nah.

Consider yourself lucky.

My breasts have never been really tender nor have I experienced horrible cramps before my period like many girls experience.

The point of this topic was to take control of your menstrual cycle rather than letting it take control of you! scream

Well mine is just there. It does not control me at all.
