Let's not forget, Punk is music AND a way of life: The punk subculture is a subculture based around the punk rock music genre. Since emerging in the United States and United Kingdom in the mid-1970s, the punk subculture has spread around the globe and evolved into a number of different forms. Punk has its own styles of music, ideology, fashion, visual art, dance, literature, and film. Punk is made up of an assortment of smaller subcultures (i.e. anarcho-punk, crust punk, horror punk and street punk), which distinguish themselves through unique interpretations of punk culture. It's pretty good, talking about fashion, music, etc. during the golden years of punk in England.

has anyone seen slc punk. its an awesome movie. anyway back to the topic.
Punk is an idea, i believe the goal of punk is to point out the wrong doings of poloticians, business, police, corporations, and just overall coruption. I believe it is an idea that should be embraced. But making punk your life well i have to say the only way you can pull that off is if you are a either a punk band or a punk groupie. but then you'll only pull that off until you get sick of it, and if you dont and you enjoy well ... that is awesome.
Anarchy only exists to usurp a government. when it succeeds there will be a short period of time where it will rule, but the people will eventually adopt a form of government.
anyway anyone who truly believe punk is a way of life should see slc punk. it might change your mind ... and make you laugh. its hilarious.

okay, to whoever the hell said that the only way to be a punk is to be in a band or to be a groupie is an idiot. technically, you're a punk if you like the music and you know about it.

technically my sister is a true punk and she told me that when your a punk its because you dont think that somthing in society is wrong and you try and go against it and you stick to your word... like protesting against something its not just about knowing everything there is to know about punk its living like it to... she says that the lead singer of dixie chicks is a punk because she went against the government and didnt give up on what she believed in..
she also says that nowadays punk is dead and that all of us are just posers because we dont care about jack s**t... but sometimes i think she is CRAZY but i love her anyway

punk isn't really dead, it's mostly just in comatose trying to fight it's way awake. it just has to get passed all the crap in it's way to show it exists. Though there are many who attempt to profit off of this, to those who care, we will find the people, art, and music that defines punk. better yet, start your own band. Make something that will make people think. build something. put on a show, get people angry. write the presedent hate mail. make angry street art. make happy street art..... that's all I can really think of.

It's pretty good, talking about fashion, music, etc. during the golden years of punk in England. haven't read it yet, but i highly recommend "Let Fury Have the Hour." Its a great book about the Clash's singer, Joe Strummer. Its a great book about his political beliefs and stories about when journalists spent their days with the band.

Punk isn't dead, It's just harder to find becase of all the poseurs in the world. More and more peaple are using the term to be cool, or step up their 'game'.
Punk is when you belive in somthing, and will do anything to change it and stick to your belifes. You don't have to wear a ceritan thing, you don't even have to listion to The Clash or The Sex Pistoles.
Punks don't call them Punk, they call them Revolunaries or Activists. That is what a Punk really is.
At lest to me.
And back to music most peaple who are 'punk' like punk music becuase it's talking about what they belive in. And thats why they get pissed when MCR and Fall Out Boy are 'Punk'.
What have they done?
I've seen SLC Punk, It's funny, parts of it is true but I don't agree with it, and I think Punk is much more then what it is shown as.
