I have this book somewhere in my house, and since this is The Place Of Those Who Know Nix, I was wondering if anyone's read it. Is it good? Should *I* read it? Should I put it in someone else's book pile instead?

Go ahead. It's not the best Nix book ever(actually, probably the worst) but it's still ok.

Heheh...since I had never heard of it and it took several years to come to the US from Australia, I had rather suspected as much. I should probably finish Earthsea first.

I started to read it a couple months ago, but I wasn't able to read it. The Ragwitch isn't nearly as interesting as Nix's other books.

Most likely to satisfy myself I'll read a few chapters and then pass it on to my mum, who always takes my unwanted books.

As Sporky said, not one of his best books, but it's still worth reading. I think it might have been one of his first, so his writing has significantly improved since. *shrugs* Give it a try.

I liked the book, the concept was neat. It wasn't to be compared with other things I have read by him though.

I want to read it just to see how it was when he first started out

Note abour Ragwitch: It has a tough beginning. I mean, it has a boring beginning. But after it, it gets pretty interesting. I liked it... The elements I thought were not particularly interesting, but everything else I liked a LOT. It was a pretty good book, all in all.

It certainly wasn't bad. It took quite a while to start off, but over-all it wasn't a terrible read. I admit, it's not one of his better works, but I'm still glad I read it. heart

I thought it went really fast. @.@ But I agree that it wasn't the best. I didn't have a favourite character or anything.

It was his firstish, I think. It was still interesting in its own way, but he's deffinately grown as a writer since then. It certainly can't compare with The Old Kingdom Trilogy.

((I'm not really sure what this forum was originaly about, but I need a place to rant, so here goes))

I don't know how I ever thought any thing of Nix's could be anything less than brilliant! I've read the Abhorsen Trilogy and Shade's Children, but Ragwitch simply didn't appeal to me, so I decided not to read it...wow, I missed out! AHHHH!!! I loved it! I just finished it and it's genius! SPOILER ALERT:I was so sad when I found out that Paul would have to kill Julia, Mirran, and....forgive me for not attempting her name, the good side of the Ragwitch!!!!! Thus the end of the book made me really happy when Julia was alive again...and I would have beat them both up if they chose to forget their adventures! Ahhhh, sigh. Another good book finished...now to bead. And in the morning, I continue to Prattchet's Maskerade. Toodles.

I read it a long time ago (like 4 years) but when I read it, I remember that I liked it and that it creeped me out a bit.
