Well, Everyone knows that the movie Eragon is coming out. How do you think it will be? Did you like the book? Are you going to see the movie?
I hope the movie will be really good considering I really, really liked the book. I have the second one, Eldest, but I am very sorry to say that I have yet to read it and it is still sitting on my shelf because my stupid AP English class has assigned so many other books to read that I have to finish them before I can read Eldest. I am going to see the movie, hopefully on opening day, but it can't be guaranteed.

I asked a few of my friends from school if they had read Eragon and the reaction I got was surprising; they had never even HEARD of it! But schoolwork comes before anything I suppose, even though it's hard to admit. ^^

They ruined the Harry Potter's and I really hope they don't ruin Eragon. From the previews it looks excellent, but I hope it's as good as they make it look.

I've not read Eragon yet. The movie looks exciting, but I'm not going to see it unless I read the book. That is my little self-rule. I ope you guys who have read the book likes the movie.
But I will agree - they totally messed up the Harry Potter series in the movies. The movies make me cringe as I think of them. The books are amazing by themselves. The movies would be pretty good if they weren't following the series.

Agaetis Byrjun Is any one a fan of the series of unfortunate events books? I used to be into them, but lately I just haven't got the time to read any of the newer ones. I loved them though, one of my favourites.

i hadn't heard of Eragon until i saw the preview for the movie. I don't intend on reading it mainly because I'm not a fan of Fantasy.
have any of you read the Dragon riders of Pern? I've heard rumors of movie making in the future.
am i right in assuming the analogy of: Harry potter is to Lord of the Rings as Eragon is to Dragon Riders of Pern?
Which do you think is better? Eragon or Dragon Riders?

If anything, you should read the book after you watch the movie. That way the movie won't dissapoint you, and the book will seem that much better. I just hope that the Eragon movie isn't as badly damaged and innaccurate as the Lord of the Rings movies were. The Fellowship of the Ring wasn't too bad, but The Two Towers and The Return of the King most nearly made me vomit.

I'm a big Mcaffery (sp?) fan, and I love her books, though I know for a fact I'll never find time to read them all.

I think the producers of movies-from now on- should read the books before they make them if they don't already. If people don't want to sit in the theateres for..what..3 hours? To see a movie, then that is they're problem. No matter how long the movie is, it should be made following the story line and if people have read the book or think it will be good enough to see, then that is they're choice.

In the case of Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson had read all the books several times, but figured he that he could make it "better" through poorly made screenplay that minimized several of the books primary and secondary themes.
