Got writer's bock? Want to start a new story, but can't think up a decent plotline? Got an old story idea that you don't have time for or just don't want to do? Post and read them here.

Don't throw ideas away, just throw them in File 13, where someone else can use them! They can be as short or as long, as detailed or as general as you want. 'One man's trash is another man's treasure'!

The problem is, all of my ideas are inspired by other series and authors. After reading Cirque du Freak, I was into a vampire writing stage. After Letters to a Christian Nation it was political correctness. No idea is really original today, would anyone agree?

I completely agree with that. I have the same problem. I was reading The Scarlet Letter for school and afterwards I had a huge urge to write a story about the affair of a woman and her minister. And I just went and saw Aragon (Don't know if I spelled that right, and I'm far to lazy to look it up) and now I'm thinking "Hey, it would be fun to write something with dragons and a super hapt guy" (although the Hot guy part is just me).

Recently I've been working on a Mystery story that is technically a homework assignment for school, but I've been making it long and complicated and it seems to be a mix of James Bond and Charlie's Angels (old '70's version, which is better anyway). So yeah, I know what you mean.

Thanks. I was having problems with that. I never did read the book but after seeing the movie it makes me want to pick up that book and see how the guy wrote it.

Oh, the book is MUCH better than the movie.

Isn't that always the case? Unless the movie came out first and some one wrote a book on it. But other then that, it's always the book that's better. So now I'll have to go buy the book.

Well, once you buy the book, you're making a commitment. You'll get hooked and end up buying the sequel too.

Well, a while back I had some great ideas for this story, but now I just don't know how to continue it. I might pick it up in a couple years when I randomly go through all my files, but it's defniately not on my list now.

Sighing, I wiped my sweaty brow and leaned forward a bit, “How much longer are we gonna be out here?” I called to the Arabian man a few camels ahead of me.
Nabeel answered back in perfect English with just a slight accent, “Not too much farther. You Americans seem so impatient.”
I laughed. He was right. That was why I had decided to take a vacation the first chance I got. Out here, being surrounded by nothing but mounds of scorching sand, made me feel like almost a whole different person than back in my old run down apartment back in New York.
Suddenly the camel I was on spat, making me jump a bit. Riding on a camel was a lot harder than it had first appeared. Standing with my sandals half-buried in the 100 degree sand, it seemed like the easiest thing in the world. Just get on, and the camel would know where I wanted to go, and it would take me there.
But I soon found that I had to do some of the work myself. Balancing while skidding down a dune was by far the most difficult. I hate to admit that I fell off at least once or twice. It was a very bumpy ride, despite the smooth guise at first glance.
I had long since sweated off the last of my sunscreen, so now my skin felt like burning charcoal underneath the searing sun that hung high above our caravan of weary travelers. My frail fire-colored hair fell from the rubber band that was supposed to keep it out of my face and clung to my sticky sweaty forehead. Even with a visor and a turban-like cloth over my head, I still felt like I was going to die.
Just as I was about to ask Nabeel how much longer it would be again, we reached the top of a rather large sand dune.

I'd like to see what some one is able to do with this. heart The main character is headed on an excursion to the Great Egyptian Pyramids

Yeah! A lot of my stories are like about things I see in tv in songs or whatever. Nothing I think is really mine. neutral

i mean, i add some original elements to the story, and make it completely different from the original inspiration. but it upsets me to look back and see exactly, very clearly how the two are related.

that really stinks... but, I mean. A lot of things are related in that kind of thing... no big thing, right?

... Okay, why would you feel guilty? I have no idea, I just feel unoriginal and stupid, if something like that happens... then again my self esteem isn't the highest thing in the world sweatdrop .

well, if the story gets compliments or recognition, i'll feel like i'm not due any credit.
