What if Brom was really Eragon's father, not Morzan? It would make sense. Brom wouldn't have missed Selena so much when she left if they were just acquaintances....what if Eragon and Murtagh are half-brothers? Selene is mother to both, but they had different fathers? Therefore, if Brom's sword really is under the Minoa tree, it would be Eragon's Iheritance. More proof: When Brom told Eragon that he was in Hiding, wouldn't it make sense that of anywhere, he would choose Carvahall, where he could watch his son grow up, and protect him if a threat ever revealed itself? How does Brom know so much about Eragon's history? His Parentage? Where he comes from? And Then, in Angela's shop, she remembered that Selena's fortune wasn't a good one. What if Angela saw that she would have to choose between two lovers? That would make more sense still. If She chose Brom, was pregnant with Eragon, and went to Carvahall to let Brom raise him, because she knew that Morzan was still persuing her, and if her found out about Eragon, would surely kill him? All questions that could possibly lead to Brom being Eragon's Father, and the sword being his. Of course, It's probably not going to be all "Oooooh looky, a sword." Chris probably has something big planned for it.

I think that we shuold wait to find out. Because it could be something else entirely what if Galbatorix turned out to be his father? (I know a little to like star wars) But I use to read the stories that kids wrote on Shurtugal and one of them was like that. and the way that they wrote it made it sound true. I personally dont want to know cause then it will ruin the suprise.

*shrugs* I deal with a lot worse. My friend's dad calls me an "Irrisponsible Little b***h" because one time, just one time, when my friend was at the dentists, I forgot to take his stuff to the next class... so.. *shrugs* It's fine.

I'd be greatly disappointed were this true. It'd ruin the whole effect I think.
Plus that would make me lose so much respect for Brom were this true. He'd be a shitty father in my eyes. If he were Eragon's father he should have had a greater role in the boy's life than he did.
I truly hope that Brom is not Eragon's father because I like his character, and do not wish to be disappointed by such a b*****d mistake.
Sorry for my language.

Maybe instead of the theory that Brom, not Morzan, is Eragon's father... maybe Brom is Morzan? and was tricked into service for Galbatorix but found a way around his oath? Not sure...

Sorry, but part of your theory won't work. It's possible Brom had to be in service to galbatorix, but find a way around it.However, I thik he would have told Eragon in case they were captured. And no offense, but I can almost automatically shoot down the theory of Brom being Morzan. Remember what Oromis said. He trained them both, and said that Brom idolized Morzan, persuing him around everywhere, and it nearly killed him when Morzan turned.

The problem with the Brom=Eragon's dad theroy is that that would make Selena a tramp. I highly doubt that she is.
