I think that Hayao Miazaki should make one or two movies based on the Elinium, and maybe the Tamuli as well. Why not the Belgariad and Mallorean? Well, those just aren't as good as the Sparhawk books, in my humble opinion. And with a movie based on Sparhawk, you could get right in to the "good parts." For example, showing Garion at a ranch just isn't very exiting compared to Sparhawk riding into town at night in the rain for me.
Does anyone else think it would be a good idea? A Sparhawk movie by Hayao Miazaki?

Isn't Hayao Miazaki the one who adapted Howl's Moving Castle into an anime? If so, then I don't know about your idea. He makes great movies, but in my opinion he butchered Howl's. I don't know what he would do with Eddings' material.

Yeah, I didn't like that one much either, but the rest of his movies are awesome. Try doing a Google on him, and check it out.

I agree that Miyazaki is awesome however, he does tend to go overboard with the a little bit. I have a feeling that he would turn the Alorns into some idiotic race and he would twist it so much. Just no.

I think this would be a great idea if doing all that kid's stuff hasn't ruined him. I mean, the Belgariad is pretty much kid stuff, but not quite so gentle and broadly humorous as a lot of Miyazaki's work is. He's capable of being really epic and amazing, but he's a little too canted towards kid's stuff for me to be really comfortable with. I'd almost like to see CLAMP do it, because even though they're way, way, way too shoujo to really make it work, they'd do wonders with the really dark stuff and the weirder aspects of the philosophy.

I don't know what he would do with Eddings' material. Books are almost enevitably butched to make movies. It just really depends on how they are butchered that makes the movie good or not. It would be intresting to see some of his books made moves out of though. They'd probably end up making one movie out of The Belgariad and one from the Malorian if they did make movies out of them though. o_<

Really, if there was enough of a budget, a TV miniseries might be better.
