Since Johnny and Robby are such wonderful songwriters, who have such complex songs, I thought it'd be a good idea to have a thread dedicated to interpreating these songs!
Don't be shy to post what you think a song means! None of us know for sure what they meant by all the songs, so you could be right!!

I want to interpret so badly. but I feel kinda like its intruding in Johnny's (or Robby's) uh... personal awesomeness. Ya know what I mean? Like- I think when someone write's a song, it's totally their's. As if no one could ever even get close to really knowing. 'Cause- you guys are fans, obviously something sucked you in right? For me it was the intense lyrics and John's greatly awesome voice. So- we hear a song about pain or something beautiful, and think its about a girl or a reflection on oneself or something like that, but really- I think we have no idea. I feel like we make it what we want, which is ok- cause then it sort of becomes part of us but....yeah....
sorry about my psychotic rant, but this is something I think about a lot and really have strong opinions on. The awesome thing is- I never thought about this kind of stuff untill the Goos became my favorite band. Anyway- my friend and I argue about what songs mean all the time.
I'd love to hear anyones opinion on Become. heart

I think when they release a song, they know that fans are going to interpret it as something, sometimes something completely different than what it was written for.
I think I read somewhere that they like it when people make their songs their own. They like that fans can relate to a song because of what they think it means, even if it's not what it was written about.

Well thats Cool. Now I can sleep at night (joking). Yeah- I think its impossible for them to not know people are going to interpret songs and such. I think that it would be cool for someone to know that other people were loving and "adopting" their songs as part of them. This was a great idea for a thread, I hope it gets going soon; I can't wait to hear what people think!!!! heart blaugh heart blaugh heart blaugh

I think that song is about growing up and just starting life and making something good out of it even if no one has any belief in you and just doing the best you can anyway.

yeah.. thats a good one. I think its growing up, growing apart, and forgetting who you used to be. Then suddenly someone who cared about you comes back and your like "********.. someone actually cares" and then its all better (sort ah)

I love Become, so heres my Interpretation: I don't know Rzeznik's Merital Status, so i don't know whether it's inspired by a tru e story, or a past experience or what have you...
It's most likely about a girl...(Dur) I think, she's not looked upon as "Normal" she doesn't conform...And She gets heat for it. He is a little broken that through all this she never seeked any console in him...And he thinks she's loosing faith in life, and he has a tiny tinge of sarcasm in some lines...They may have been Romantically involved in the past, and now he's sort of wondering what happened to that....
That's my interpretation of the story in it...
