I was just wondering how many of you have tried to get your friends hooked on Eddings?
I've found that his books are the perfect gifts to give my bookworm friends (and in some cases the ones who aren't).

I gave one of my friends Pawn of Prophecy for his birthday a couple of . I do this a lot actually and my brother keeps saying that Eddings is like crack. I give them their first hit and they buy the rest, not my fault that they don't have the patience to wait until the next gift giving event.

Have you tried them on the Belgariad, it's a good one to start with and gets them interested.

My cousin gave me this giant stack of 5 books and told me to stop reading Stephen King so much. And that was it I was hooked. He gave me the next 5... haven't giving them back...

My friend actually got me hooked. He just left the Pawn of Prophecy in my house where I could see it and eventually I picked it up. We've worked together to get the rest of my friends hooked.

I tried... I guess I started with the wrong book. I recommended Belgarath the Sorcerer to her, but she got really bored with it.

LilKitty115 I tried... I guess I started with the wrong book. I recommended Belgarath the Sorcerer to her, but she got really bored with it. It probably would've been better starting with Pawn of Prophecy. Or she might like Polgara better, but then she'd get spoilers if she ever wanted to read Bel/Mal. If she hasn't already.

I don't think she has. I should try again with a different approach.

My mom got me hooked on them, then I found out my friend had read the Mallorian, so I had to throw the Belgariad at her. I've still got to get her to read the three compainion novals.
