I've been writing for fun every since I can remember. I have a story I wrote back in second grade about a little lost red puppy. smile
I'm with you on writing, too. I hate being told what to write, or how to write it, especially if its something I have absolutely no interest in.

Let's see... I think the first stories I made were back when I was 7 years old. I even made a casette with them, with the recorder my sister had. I didn't write anything aain for ages, until I turned 14. At that time, I read Tolkiens books, and realized how poorly made they were. Since I'm not a hypocite, I decided to write something of my own, so that I at least could say that I knew what he had gone trough, regardless of how my stories would turn out.
I've yet to finish that story.

I actually started the hardcore writing when I got into sixth grade. I loved daydreaming and making up stories since I was little, and I probably had been in some school assembly about some writer, which got me wanting to write as a hobby. Though I made a book long before I learned to write. I made a picture book with nothing but wide ruled paper, a pencil, a 24 box of crayolas and potato chip bag clip to hold it all together. Mom has it stashed in a closet somewhere, I should go find it and see if I can tell what it's about.
Seventh grade got me realistic about my goals. We had this thing called Power of the Pen, where we would go to competitioins, sit in a little room with 5 other people, get a prompt and write a short story in 45 minutes. I love this, but sadly it was only for the seventh and eighth grades, and not in hig school. [That'll change as soon as I can figure out how to contact the right people wink ] And now I'm well on my way to writing my firsh publish-worthy novel.
[Can't wait for NaNoWriMo next year, since I missed it in '06 gonk ]

Since I was little, I loved to make up stories, but I started reading fanfiction in the 5th grade, and one day I picked up a random book at the library and I thought: "This really sucks..... I can write better than this. This got published!" And so I started writing short shories and fanfic for my friends! I'm now writing a novel.

Well, I started writing poetry for fun in 3rd grade. I began to write stories in the 6th grade.
I agree that I hate given writing assignments, with acception of persuasive essaies with a good topic. I love persuasive essaies. heart

Yes, I enjoy writing essays too. (Is it essaies or essay? Pretty sure it's the latter myself, but I could be wrong) And I started writing for fun at, I think ten or eleven years old.

I started to write for fun in 2nd grade; that's when I realized I wanted to become a writer. Feel like going insane? Got a fire in your brain? And you're thinking of drinking gasoline...

i started to write for fun in seventh grade because some people in my family died and i was really upset..and my best friend told me to try writing to relieve the pain..and it did. So, from then on, i wrote whenever i could. I have over twenty stories finished and about ten poems. I don't really know how good i am. My friends say i am, but how do you really know?

I've been writing for 5-6 years. I started so I could actually be proud because I could actually do something and it was easy for me to think up something to go along with.
