I didn't really know where to post this, so I figured the Chatter Box would be the best place.

Since Mary Sues are such a big problem to begining writters, I started this little prjoect on a forum to see if it will atleast make them read the advice threads. I'm talking about a Mary Sue contest, the story has to be Sue centered and has to contain as manny clichees as possible.

Do you think it would work? At least they should read the guidlines and something has to stick to them..

I'd also want some advice on how the judjing should go. I have no idea how to grade the enteries...

That is a very intriguing idea; I never would have thought of something like that! That could even be a contest idea in the near future, since things need a little spicing up around here.

I'd like to see some other people's opinions on this. heart

That's about it. If we tell them to write bad, maybe they'll be confused enough to write a good story, or at least, have some fun with the clichees.

I still don't know how it should be judged though... The amount of sueness would be the main criterea, and I think the number of clichees used should be another, but other than that I need a few sugestions.

That's a good idea.

You could judge on how well it's written too. Just because it's generic doesn't mean the writing skill is worn out and icky like some of the rereredone stories out there.

*tearing out her hair*
It was a desaster. They barely made the 2000 word limit they were given. All the people that actually had a clue about writing pulled out before the deadline and the ones that staied used this as an excuse to write worst than they already did.

I just hope the judging part will work better. sweatdrop
