ninja I should be studying for my test but I couldn't resist showing off.
I'm currently writing a story (so far approx 61 pages types, 12 font, not double spaced).
It is about a teenage girl who is kind of the outcast with really only her brother around. Unfortunately for her, he dies (soooo cliche I know). His best friend is there to help her out through her grieving.
My catchy little summary: Dr. Phil says there is 4 stages of grieving: Shock, Denial, Anger, Resolution. I think he forgot the stage where you fall in love with your dead brothers best friend.
So back to my showing off. I drew a picture of the best friend, his name is Tristan. I was just wondering what you all thought. It is my first attempt at a realistic look, normally I draw in anime style.
I was also wondering if any of you draw visuals of characters you write about of if that was just me xd heart

Wow, the picture is really good! I like to draw, but my people are always slightly distorted. blaugh
The story sounds quite interesting, i can't wait to read some of it! I should really get moving on my own. Its been in planning for a month so, i just don't know where to start... =P
Best of luck with your story. Keep us posted!

Thank you whee It is better than my normal drawings. They tend to be lopsided and dumb looking (much like their artist xd ) I've got a goal to finish it in three weeks so I'm crossing my fingers! sweatdrop I don't know though my work load is getting pretty strenuous. cry Sigh, if only college was easy! gonk That would be the day.

About 32,000 for the word count. It's a lot of dialogue so it seems longer.

Well for the drawing I'd say you need to define the hair better, and make more obvious shadows and highlights.. and maybe get a little more red in your skintone, he has a kind of sickly yellow going on.
I can't say much more than that cause I still put anatomy in the "evil spawn from hell! *stabs*"-category (I can draw and I have decent anatomy, I just can't draw humans to save my life.).
As for the story, well it's abit hard to say from the summary but it seems like it could turn out good, not nessicarily something I would read (I'm not really into romance), but thats just personal tase. Good luck with it!

xd He does look kind of sickly. I'll have to mess around with that.
Thank your for your opinion, I'll work on the summary maybe make it a bit more informative/interesting.

If it's of any help this website has a neat little skintone chart, just save it to your computer and use the color sampler and you should be able to tweak from there. (And yes I'm bored atm.. sprained hand so can't do much of anything atm...)

*sigh* If only I could draw smile On the face, lessen the cheekbone definition or angle it lower? It looks like he's a tad gaunt. Then again, it could be my screen; I've been having resolution issues lately. For a first realistic pic, that's really good! (Dunno how your anime is, so I can't really compare it to anything...I just know I wouldn't have been able to do it.)
I do have to say, I envy people who can draw likenesses of their characters. I can draw them out in words, but I'd have to commission people to actually design them the way I see them in my head. The other thing that this sketch-challenged chica does is tear stuff out of magazines to use as inspiration. (We all know those fashion mags are good for something!) Oddly enough, it's usually the advertisements that I rip out, and not the article models at all...
Awesome word count! How long have you been working on it?

I do this very same thing. Most writers write outlines. I don't. I draw my characters and the scenes they are in. As they say, a picture says a thousand words and it's much better than typing pages upon pages of outline. Forgive me for barging in, but I'm posting a few of my sketches too mrgreen SUGGESTION! We should create a sort of subforum for sharing works, prologues, current works-in-progress and such. A scene from Chapter 1. That's my main character up front. A scene from Chapter 4, more of my main characters. My notebooks are just chock full of sketches, but I haven't done colored yet. Maybe I will soon.

Gwendy...very talented sketches there! Are you only using them for reference or are you actually illustrating your writing?

siatara Gwendy...very talented sketches there! Are you only using them for reference or are you actually illustrating your writing? Thanks! Glad u liked the sketches biggrin Actually, I do both. Like I said, in place of outlines, I have sketches. I illustrate my writing too, but not to the point of going into graphic novels, though I would love to do that someday. As for now, I'm just writing, and when I want a scene to stick in my mind, I draw them. Maybe I'll have more sketches soon. LOL! Imagine what my sketches are like when I get to the steamy scenes! HAHAH! But I don't do hentai. Hahaha 4laugh Just tasty enough to garner appreciation, evoke feelings but not encourage protests.
