Well, depending on the reseach, it could be like the star treck series, where ships can go to one planet in about three hours instead of five years. or it will be like Starwars saga. Either way I find the prospect great.

Since it is impossible to travel faster than light unless you have zero mass, I think the most likely way space travel could get much faster is if we found some way to travers subspace or something like that. If we could find a way to create wormholes, that would work too. Other than that, there will be commercial flights once space station and colonies on other planets become common. Getting off the planet will always be a huge problem.
