CONGRATULATIONS! You've gotten your hands on one of those insanely rare bits of magic Master Seiji let loose on the world. What now? Please read this thread to see where you're going next.

Please don't post in this thread. Get our attention elsewhere (main thread or PM) and we shall answer questions. heart

To RP or Not To RP

First of all, remember you don't HAVE to RP. We're not going to think less of you for it- we know people don't always have the time. We'll love seeing you around the thread! There's no difference between RP and Non-RP Cards except that we'll be keeping track of the levels for RP cards. Non-RP cards are still able to Seek other cards, should you get a slot.

If you DO want to RP, ask us for a journal. (You may have one if you're technically non-RP too, if you really want.) For this we need your name, your character's name (One name please! Not much space on those tags), and a name for your card. Please post these in thread or PM them to the mule. There is no specified setup to journal threads, but we would like to see a character profile for your Card Captor somewhere.

If you do RP, then expect this to affect everything for your card- levels and Seeking, more than anything else. Please continue through the rest of the thread for information. heart

Whatchu Know About The Clow

You DON'T know anything about the Clow. No one knows anything about the Clow. It's been a dead magic for a long time- and Seiji hasn't been sharing his secrets. There is no way to access this information unless Seiji tells you himself. When you encounter a Card for the first time and eventually get that odd, stiff bit of pretty paper in your hand, you will walk into it completely unawares the first time.

If you really want to work this into your backstory, you can say that someone you know knows about the OLD cards a little- but if we see this being used too often, it will be restricted. Remember, no one knew about Sakura except a few close friends- the whole wide world isn't going to know about this sort of thing.

Card Capture

Capturing your first Card (or second, or third, or FIFTIETH) is not going to be easy. Cards are stubborn, and you aren't their original Master (Seiji)- so they'll freak out a bit when you try to catch them. Please bear this in mind when you RP. It's never easy, and your capture post should reflect this. Feel free to include personal injury- Cards don't play nice if you're trying to capture them. It is not necessary to write your name on the card; giving it a name will seal it to you.

The staff is not responsible for capture RP's. We will give you a prompt if you'd like, but the Captor is in charge of all aspects of the actual capture.

Card Naming/Getting The Card To Cooperate

The first challenge you'll face after capture is...getting the Card to DO something again. You've caught it, now it's in your hand...but it won't wake up. Be creative. You MUST give your card a name before it will do anything else- but it may require your Command, your Key, or even bribes with peanut butter and jelly sammiches if it decides to be very stubborn. Once you start communicating, the Card should start answering to it's name.

The second challenge is to get that little bugger to LISTEN to you! You might get the card to manifest itself, but instead of doing it's job it may be more interested in setting your homework on fire. Only constant work, communication, and coaxing will help you here. Talk to other Card Captors in the Library- they might have some suggestions.

The Library

The Library is our central RP location, and a good place to meet other Card Captors. The cards feel safe in the Library, since this is where they originated, and all Cards will encourage their Captors to go to the Library once they've manifested for the first time. The Cards will be more likely to emerge here, even if they're very stubborn, because it feels like home. The Library is also a neutral location for all grades, so everyone has a reason to be there without getting into trouble.

The Cards will lead you to a back area of the Library with sitting areas and lots of tables. This area is fairly shut off from the rest of the building, so you won't have to worry about being disturbed by outsiders. There is also a bulletin board here...from time to time handwritten notes will appear on this board, mentioning that strange things have been happening on campus. This is your IC way of learning about events held to capture new cards.

Card Use/Leveling System

So your Card is finally starting to cooperate. AWESOME. It's good that you're working together and starting to get along. You may have noticed a level number in the first post of your journal. All Cards start at level 7. This means that whenever you post trying to get your card to do something, you roll a d10. You must roll a 7 or above for that Card to listen to your orders...even the smallest. Obviously, the best number to have is Level 1- for our purposes, 0 = 10.

As you RP, you’ll earn points, and gradually your levels will go down if you've been working with your Card. A card with a Level 1 is a MUCH more powerful card than a card at Level 7, because it has learned to cooperate and focus it's powers. Cards with low Levels will also make Seeking much easier. If you ABUSE your card, the level can go all the way up to 0...when the card won't listen to you at all. For every 100 words of RP, you get 1 Level point. These points buy certain perks, as well as increasing your card’s abilities.

Level Progression:
We are still developing the Reward system. Please be patient!

+15 points (15 total): Level 6
+25 points (40 total): Level 5
+35 points (75 total): Level 4
+50 points (125 total): Level 3
+75 points (200 total): Level 2
+100 points (300 total): Level 1

Captors will be required to post new Journals/RP’s in the Journal Update thread. The shop staff will tally your points and update your journal to show current levels/points. Please be aware that these numbers only affect ONE CARD unless you have other cards deeply involved in that particular RP as well. Once you reach Level 1 on a particular card, you will be considered an experienced Master of the Clow and the price of gaining levels for your other cards will decrease according to the following scale.

Clow Master Level Progression:

+15 points: Level 6
+20 points: Level 5
+30 points: Level 4
+40 points: Level 3
+65 points: Level 2
+85 points: Level 1
