During the late 21st century, the third world war (also know as that last great war) ended. During this time, the countries formerly known as The republic of China, Great Britain, Germany and Japan became what was once considered Third world. The United States (Now known as Imperial United States) quickly aided their closest allies (Japan and Britain recieved over 150 billion dollars within the first two weeks of the War ending. Though, IUSA was relitivly unaffected, only a few border towns near Mexico saw any of the fighting.
During this time, new weapons were seen as they were in every Great War. New weapons, such as the Pulse Rifle, the Plasma cannon and even the Railgun and Gauss gun's saw the battle field.
The largest impact would have had to be the A.S.R [Armed Slave Regiments] Also known as Mecha years before. Unlike the comics drawn about them, they had simple mechanics, using the most basic controls to be controlled. Though, they provided as much cover as a tank. But with the added height they became icons of the new war. Though, they only were the icons because they were the new "Weapons of Power". Or so thought the civilian war. Unknowing to them, the armies had been using human sized A.S's, also known as Androids. Unlike Science fiction, they lacked the human appearance. Instead they were very much closer to their tank bretheren. They looked human in size, and stature. But lacked the facial features, the skin. They were known simply as "Droids" by the end of the war.

Twenty three years after the war, the automatically programed 'droids' had fallen into disrepair. Their pilot requireing brothers had been taken to museams. But the droids had been tossed into junk yards, trash pits. Even some where brought to the Middle East, and let loose in the deserts. The same happened in siberia, let loose in the snow lands. These droids, unable to erase the program to "kill" instead rewrote it to "rebuild". When a piece of their arm fell off, they would replace it with what they could find.
The scientists who created them could never have imagined what they had created.
They droids actually took in parts of their enviroments. Merging with them.
And again, during the late 22nd century, they were saught out for their fighting powers. Not by large armies, but instead by the Rebels, now fighting the Empire (IUSA with the Russian Coalition,and the New Peoples Republic of Asia [Asia being everything but Russia in that continent, IUSA controlling all of Europe, and most of Africa. Also took S.A without a problem.) The middle east, some of Africa, and small patches of Europe are left untouched.

When the rebels discovered the Evolving droids, they studied them first by afar. Then they went into the small patches of Droid lands. They had devised their own goverments, their own villages and Higharachy. Even the droids in the trash pits had done this. Now so far from their original type, many of them where given new names. The most describing was the 'Junker-bot' Basicly the droids that lived in the Junkyards. Many of their parts now being old materials. Even containing some archaic machinery such as Stereos, or toasters.
The rebels tried to interact with the Droids, who seemed to not mind. Until the rebels started bringing weapons into the pattern. The first droid to kill a rebel was located in the Sahara.
The empire was oblivious to these droids, who had been so neglected, they were left out of every history book. Instead, only the ASR's were even remembered, and they were considered ancient.
The Rebels learned that the droids reacted to weapons as a threat. And would kill those carrying them.
They brought in engineers, and learned that the droids still had programs to kill, but over them were layers of other re-hashed codes. Many even having bits of intelligence forming.
A new species had been created.

Again, the Rebels messed up. They had infact been able to find the problem codes. Giving the Droids freedom. But, that meant the Droids now were perfect killing machines, that would kill by their own judgment. Now even the empire saw the Droids as a Threat.
They attacked the droid town in the Siberia. Killing over thirty droids (all from the last great war. The empire was unable to kill the New Droids)
