hi ive been studying the ancient languages (elven, urgal, dwarf) so i think that the language notes should be put online just in case a character uses the ancient languages, like Arya and the Dwarves. so ill be posting them on here soon. but there is a lot of notes so pay attention.

THE ELVEN LANGUAGE NOTES: 7 RULES:
1) An apostrophe is a pause in the word or-- if it is between 2 r's-- a thrill in the word. (thrill is a roll of the tongue.) Example: Zar'rock has a thrill **--Uru'baen and Ristvak'baen-- baen is part of each word. but because it represents such a powerful and complex form of grief, it is set off by the apostrophe.
2) All verbs are set in the present tense. Thus alfr ach thornessa translates to He does this. Future tenses are indicated by using shall, will, and other words that are appropriate. Past tense is formed by adding suffixes Iand O. (I know this can be a circle of confusion but try to deal) Present Tenses________Past Tenses_________Future Tenses Eddyr--am____________Ero--was___________Weohnata--will Ach--does or do________Achi--did___________(i havent figured out the rest yet) Eru--are______________Erni--were
3) Unless using formal gramar or if the absence causes confusion, am and both definite and indefinite article adjectives are often excluded from scentences. Example: Eka fricai un Shur'tugal means I a rider and friend, but is supposed to be I am a rider and a friend.
4) The Ancient Language does not use present participles, (leaving, walking, going, trying, etc.) Examples: humans would say "walking into the room, Eragon sees Arya." While Elves say "As walk into the room, Eragon see Arya."
5) Titles, Honorifics, and descriptions usually follow the person or item being described. Translators are free to use their description in arranging the words.
6)This rule is about the ancient marks above letters which i cant explain online so to find out this one you will have to get the book Eragon out and look through the language guide for these notes.
#7 coming soon

This is confusing...... I made up a few of my own sentences using the words provided:
Eka hjarta ono - I love (heart) you.
Eka hjarta skulbaka - I love dragons.
Onr wydra huildar rauthr – Your fate holds misfortune.
Iet lam huildar vanyali – My hand holds magic.
Reisa sem oro fra du adurna – Raise that arrow from the water.
Brakka du adurna – Reduce the water.
Atra onr hjarta tauthr du evarinya – Let your heart follow the stars.
Varda iet skulbaka – Watch over my dragon.
Atra ono waise vardo fra rauthr – May you be warded from misfortune.
Waise hljordr – Be silent.
((P.S. Each day I can post a little bit of the Ancient Language from the books. Red star means the words are from Eldest, and blue for Eragon. Thanks! biggrin ))
