So, has anyone heard of Dvorak? I just found out about it a while ago, thought I'd share the news.
It's a keyboard layout, an alternative to the typical QWERTY one.
People always told me that the keys were arranged to help you type faster, which I never really believed. Apparently, it was designed to keep typewriter keys from jamming, by making you type slower and keeping you alternating between different sides and such.
So, that kinda told me why I've never been a good typist. (I do the 'hunt and peck', as it's called. XD)
Anyway, most computers can be switched to a different layout, the Dvorak one. It's designed to help you type faster and alleviate any repetitive stress injuries. And it's free and easy to switch, though your keyboard will still be labelled QWERTY, so it might take awhile to get use to.
Does anyone else get sore or stiff fingers and wrists after long bouts of typing? Mine were almost always killing me.
I just thought someone might like to know. Just keep in mind that once you start learning, it's a bit hard to go back to QWERTY, though it can be done.
I got all of my info here, if you're curious and would like to check it out.
