Yes, you have heard of it. What i ask is what should the State and Feds do about it so it doesn't Happen again. This is my Opinion and how i look at it:

1)It is ignorant to put Mentally Ill Institutions out of Business meaning we are not longer helping them, the only ones who get treated are in the priosn. Whats up with that? My Point is that this Kid Seung was Mentally Ill, and no body did anything about it, because there were no Institutions anywhere. Most now say Mentally Ill Institiutes are no Longer important(Before the Massacre happened) and are planning to do the same for the Handicapped, which is terrible and Stupid.

2) Just placing a Gun Ban is Going to do nothing, this Kid just used Glocks, 9m Glocks! The weakest Calibur in the book, and were planning to place a Ban? According to Firearms Law the State, Virginia, you don't need a Permit for purchasing a Firearm, what we should do is allow Permits to be around at least.

3) The School had Poor Defenses, my question is..."Whats the point of having a Lock-down, if you don't have Locks?" This Institute had not locks what so ever, the students had to pull the doors back to stop Seung from going in, and plus the Doors should at least be Reinforced, since Seung shot through them like Paper.

I May have more to say but for Now, what do you think?

Well the thing is no matter what we do, what steps we take and how much we can better security, those who really want to will always find some way around it. Am I saying nothing should be done? OF COURSE NOT, obviously something has to be done but there can only be so much security.

The fact is the problem is not a lack adequate security it's the fact that Seung felt he had to do this, it's the ideology. He was evaluated and determined mentally stable and it's clearly apparent now that he wasn't. College is about opening doors, having more freedom and taken part in new experiences. Heightened security is going to take away from this. People who are evaluated for mental illness need to be given more care, more attention. People as a whole need to recognize when there's a problem like this. Seung's roommate tried to talk to him a few times and gave up. Is that really fair? I know at my high school someone was caught with a hit list and now he's just looked at as "the kid most likely to bring a gun to class." This ideology is not doing anyone any favors, it creates outcasts and spreads fear. People need to come together and help rather than ostracize in my opinion.

I am going to go slightly different and what many in news were saying, get rid of the gun free zone. Will it stop the shootings entirely, no probably not, but it will limit them when a teacher or another student is also armed and shoots back. That will at least limit it, since there is no way in reality to prevent it.

1) This is very true concerning the Mental Institutions, but relying on the the Federal Government to effectively maintain and evaluate the mentally insane or inept, is asking for trouble. If the Government can't protect its troops, or its borders, I doubt they can treat mentally sick people without abuse against the patients, or cost.

2) Killers, Psychos, and other riff-raff will always have access to guns regardless of how many laws we pass, or how restricted they become to people. The best way to counter this domestic terrorism, is to simply prepare for them as best we can. Better security on college campuses, better equipment for campus police, and plans for students to take cover until an emergency is over.

With respect, far fewer psychopathic undesirables get hold of firearms when the country has proper gun registration laws in place.

Agreed. The fact that we can only have limited control of distribution in now way negates the positives of some gun control laws.

but his point has nothing to do with registration because some people get theirs illegally. It is that because some get theirs through illegal means regardless of gun control and registration laws, (some illegal arms dealers in the us burn of the guns serial numbers making them almost impossible to trace) the fact is that they can and will get them if they want them enough as long as he had some fluidity of thought. So what do you do at that point. Just hope it doesn’t happen or prepare for it when it does happen and happens again?
