Thorn Desert is the largest, most desolate desert on the planet. The sun if unforgiving to those who are foolish enough to venture into its boundries without proper preperation. The nights as dramatically frigid as the days are scorchingly hot. Only the trader Caravans seem to have the most success crossing the desert at regular intervals. Being friendly people, a poor fool is very fortunate to stumble upon them. Right in the middle of the Thorn is Ankh Merebus, a large, prosperous metropolis home to many people of many nations.
The most notable feature of Ankh Merebus is the legendary Desert Rose. There are plenty of stories and rumors surrounding the Desert Rose, some believe it is truly a rose of a color not seen since the beginning of time, others believe it is an object, still others say that its a young woman, no more than a child really. All of the stories agree that the Desert Rose is a thing of immense power, though the stories only agree there, no one knows exactly what the Desert Rose does.
That being the case, the Prince of Ankh Merebus had a special unit called the Magi to protect the Desert Rose. Their base is the Rose Temple in the center of the city. Of the Magi only the High Priest, Captain, and the Desert Rose's personal guard know the appearance of the Desert Rose. She indeed is a young woman. Naturally, the Desert Rose is sought after and many theft attempts have been thwarted, none have even gotten into the interior of the Temple.

Magi
These elite soldiers, spies, assasins, guardians are chosen when they are babies to ensure that they are loyal and are trained extensively. For security purposes, the school is in a secret location and is not in Ankh Merebus. They are to swear that they will protect the Desert Rose and then are magically bound to do so.
Theives/Assasions
This should be obvious, these are individuals either working for themselves or others to either steal or eradicate the Desert Rose. It's a tough job, be careful.
Prince
He is not king, his father is but not of Ankh Merebus, he was given the city, his father thinking it wouldn't come to much, boy was he wrong!
High Priest(ess)
Just below the royal family of the city in rank, he/she is also charged with the protection and care of the Desert Rose

History: Azure was found 18 years ago by a Magi that had been sent to retrieve babies to be the next generation. Along his travels this Magi came across the ruins of an old town, while they’re he found Azure, a mere infant wrapped in an azure blanket hidden beneath some remnants of a collapsed building. He took Azure with him, deciding that if an infant could survive in the desert on its own it would make a find Magi one day. Azure like the others went through grueling and intense training for many years. Brought up to be incredibly strong and skilled, along with an unwavering loyalty. At the age of 17 he was chosen to be the Desert Rose’s personal guard, being one of the strongest, and certainly most loyal. Although he is usually very quiet, and can often seem quit cold, he deeply cares for the lives of others, the Rose’s especially, and would sacrifice his own without a second thought. He hides a deep secret that no one but himself knows.

History: Tessa wasn't born into the royal line, nor does she have any status higher up in the classes. She was actually an orphan, who was lucky enough to be taken under the wing of the Senior Priest while still just a child. She doesn't know who her parents are, nor does she wish to find out. Icarus, now deceased, was like a father to her. Although he had been old, he had taught her certain skills that were needed to be a Priestess in charge of protecting the Desert Rose. He even taught her a few of his own tricks that few others know. Because she is still in training and merely a helper to the head Priest, she doesn't know the secret to the Dessert Rose that she's sworn her life to protect. Still, she aspires to raise in the ranks, hopefully taking the place of head Priestess. Her job requires her to have a calm, even somewhat cold demeanor, but inside she screams to be joyful and dance about the halls. For now, though, she works hard and tries to befriend the right people so she can further her career and status.
